Definitely worth a visit. The parking was cheap, with no time limit (I think it was $7 but don't exactly remember). The building can be somewhat confusing to walk around, so be sure to grab a map. The tickets are reasonably priced as well. Once you pay for tickets, you receive a paper tag that must be worn visibly while walking around. I suggest you plan for at LEAST 4 hours, or more if you enjoy walking around a museum and experiencing as much there as you can. I wish I had had more time to walk around and learn, but that was my own fault. The dinosaur section has a great variety of dinosaurs on display, including a few real fossils. The mineral section has more in it than we had time to look at, including a radioactive minerals section, presented behind glass with a Geiger counter to show the materials' different radioactivity. There was also a section with sculptures from all over the world, some real-sized, and some shrunk, but both were impressive to look at. When I went, there was also a floor with art from all times in history and present.

A wonderful museum to explore all day! There is plenty of seating to go at your own leisure. We wish the cafe had been open later but there are plenty of yummy bites nearby. I do feel the Native American History Exhibit should have been easier to access!

There is a connection to not only American Art and History but pieces from all over the globe. A must stop!

Beautiful place looks clean classy, customer service is exceptionally good. From the cashiers to the security service. Love this site. In this museum you can find dinosaur bones, precious stones and other historical animals. Also as artistic painting pictures. Parking is free!

We make it a point to come here when we are in Pittsburgh. The kids absolutely love looking at all the dinosaur exhibits while I enjoyed their new Dino armor exhibit. Worth the extra 5 dollars for sure. Just one of the best museums in the country. I also want to give a shout out to lady that works there. I can't remember her name but she has been with the museum for 27 years and was supremely knowledgeable about many of the exhibits. Very sweet elderly lady.

We really enjoyed the exhibits in the ice age room and the activities in the courtyard but all of it was really interesting and well presented. Easy to find with good parking and reasonably priced for the quality and and quantity of exhibits. Just a warning that the lower level cafe is closed, we went down there just to find out we couldn t get anything. The armor exhibit is also worth checking out if it s still there when you go.

Very nice! They have a huge collection of minerals. Some of them are very beautiful. I wish I were more interested, but there is something about case after case of rocks that saps my enthusiasm.

I enjoyed the dinosaurs and the vast collection of taxedermied animals. The giraffe was my favorite.

I also really enjoyed the American Indian exhibit. I learned a lot about igloo construction and harpooning seals.

About Carnegie museum of natural history

Carnegie Museum of Natural History: A Treasure Trove of Natural Wonders

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History is a world-renowned institution that has been dedicated to the study and preservation of natural history for over a century. Founded in 1896 by Andrew Carnegie, the museum has become one of the most important centers for research and education in the field.

Our museum maintains, preserves, and interprets an extraordinary collection of artifacts, objects, and specimens to broaden the understanding of the natural world. With over 22 million specimens spanning more than 10,000 species from around the globe, our collections are among the largest and most diverse in existence.

Visitors to our museum can explore exhibits that showcase everything from ancient fossils to modern-day wildlife. Our dinosaur exhibit is one of our most popular attractions - visitors can see life-sized models of some of history's most fearsome creatures up close. We also have exhibits on minerals and gems, birds from around the world, mammals both large and small, as well as many other fascinating topics.

In addition to our permanent exhibits, we also host a variety of temporary exhibitions throughout the year. These exhibitions cover a wide range of topics related to natural history - recent examples include "Pterosaurs: Flight in The Age Of Dinosaurs" which explored prehistoric flying reptiles; "We Are Nature: Living In The Anthropocene" which examined humanity's impact on Earth's ecosystems; and "Mummies Of The World" which showcased mummies from cultures all over the globe.

One unique aspect about visiting our museum is that visitors can get hands-on with some exhibits through interactive displays or even touchable specimens! For example, visitors can touch real dinosaur bones or pet live animals at certain times during their visit.

For those interested in learning more about natural history beyond just visiting an exhibit or two - we offer educational programs for all ages! From summer camps for kids interested in paleontology or ecology; lectures by experts on various topics related to science & nature; workshops where you can learn how scientists study different aspects like geology or botany- there's something here for everyone!

If you're looking for something fun & educational to do with your family or friends- come visit us at Carnegie Museum Of Natural History! Our collections are sure to inspire awe & wonder while providing valuable insights into how life evolved on this planet.
