About Carnegie Lake Rowing Association

Carnegie Lake Rowing Association: A Community of Passionate Rowers

Carnegie Lake Rowing Association (CLRA) is a non-profit organization that provides access to rowing facilities and equipment at Princeton University. The association operates year-round, offering a range of programs for rowers of all ages and skill levels.

The CLRA was founded in 1986 by a group of passionate rowers who wanted to create a community where people could come together to share their love for the sport. Today, the association has grown into one of the most respected rowing organizations in the country, with members from all over New Jersey and beyond.

One of the unique features of CLRA is its access to Lake Carnegie, which is located on Princeton University's campus. This beautiful lake provides an ideal setting for rowing, with calm waters and stunning views. Members can take advantage of this resource by participating in regular tank and lake workouts throughout the year.

In addition to its regular workouts, CLRA also offers a Learn to Row Program for beginners who want to learn more about the sport. This program includes both indoor training on ergometers (rowing machines) as well as on-water instruction with experienced coaches.

CLRA members come from all walks of life and include both sweep oar rowers (where each person holds one oar) as well as scullers (where each person holds two oars). The association welcomes everyone regardless of age or skill level, making it an inclusive community that fosters growth and development in every member.

One thing that sets CLRA apart from other rowing associations is its commitment to safety. All members are required to complete a safety course before they can participate in any on-water activities. Additionally, coaches are trained in first aid and CPR so they can respond quickly if there's ever an emergency.

Another benefit of being part of CLRA is access to top-notch equipment. Members have access not only to boats but also ergometers, weightlifting equipment, video analysis tools, and more. This ensures that every member has everything they need to reach their full potential as a rower.

Overall, Carnegie Lake Rowing Association is much more than just another sports club – it's a community where people come together around their shared passion for rowing. Whether you're new to the sport or have been doing it for years, there's something here for everyone – including world-class facilities at Princeton University!
