Had a pretty bad experience here last month. Two couples were going up there for a fun time away but the service at the hotel was completely lacking and their attitudes were even worse. If you're set on going to Lutsen, don't expect anything special here, otherwise I'd spend my money somewhere else. Will never go back (and I'm not even picky.)

We got a really good deal on a ski and stay package for lutsen and stayed here. It s conveniently located near the lifts and gets the job done. The hotel itself is outdated but if you re there to snowboard and ski and enjoy the outdoors, this place is just fine.

If we could give less than 1 star - we would. We came here for our honeymoon. The photos looked nice & they were offering a great deal on rooms. That should have been my first clue to run. When we booked - they asked if we wanted the romance package - which seemed cheesy to me - you know it s our honeymoon - maybe just throw it in for us or put a cheap bottle of champagne in the room - but we agreed to it. We got there & the woman checking us in was so rude. If you don t like your job - find something different. We got to our room - which was like a room cut off from the main townhouse & you could hear everything in the main part of the house. Plus - there was no romance package - no soap, only hand sanitizer. I m not on a college spring break trip - I don t want to smell tequila all the time. We called & were told we might not get a different room until the next day. We decided to go to dinner. Which - btw - don t eat at Moguls. It s WAY overpriced. You re better off going into Grand Marais or even Cascade down the road. They were able to get us a different room - which was nice & they gave us a $35 gift card to the restaurant ... which helped pay for the exorbitant bill. We get to our new room & the romance package? $50 for a $15 bottle of Prosecco and a couple lindts chocolates. On top of that - the Prosecco made us sick. Either than or it was the guacamole from the restaurant. At this room had soap. We got up the next morning to figure out that there was no coffee. So up we got and headed to fikas. Don t bother asking for house keeping. They don t come - they ll leave you a bag of clean linens tossed in front of your door. Luckily, my husband and I were able to laugh about how bad it was. But we won t ever stay here again. Recommend you don t either.

Okay, a little dated and old. Pool was fun for kids, but the hot tub had so much chlorine we couldn't even be in it longer than 10 minutes before our eyes were burning, plus our suits were all discolored afterwards! Was nice to ski in to our own kitchen, but wasn't worth the price tag. Really expensive for that luxury, next time we ski Lutsen we'll find a VRBO.

Decided to take a quick trip up north with the kids and the dogs. Caribou Highlands had an open loft condo that allowed the dogs,so we booked it up. The loft was a great fit for all of us.

We hiked the area in the day, and sat in that nice hot tub in the evening.

The service was excellent. We felt right at home.

We will be back!

Nice kitchen and very friendly staff. Convenient location to explore the North Shore. My only wish is that the room was a little cleaner and that the bed was a little more comfortable. It was great having the whirlpool tub in Suite.

We stayed in the Nordic Whirlpool mountain view room with our dog in mid September for our 1 year wedding anniversary. When we checked in, our reservation neglected to have that a dog would be staying with us. The front desk fixed the problem and we were able to get the room we wanted. Plenty of things to do on site if you like the outdoors and great location to visit the many state parks. Food was good, try the meatloaf at moguls. We would stay there again.

Wonderful accommodations. Stayed for the weekend in September for a wedding. The staff was amazing. The townhomes were nice. I couldn't believe I could get wireless everywhere. Fitness center is decent. Indoor and outdoor pool, and firepits. Staff were friendly. I had THE BEST pillows on my bed. Wish the shower water pressure was better.

Walking in, the place looked pretty nice. It took a while for the 6 of us to be seated, but we were. 2 of our 6 water glasses were dirty, which was, frankly, disgusting. The food was just okay, not that great. The prices were pretty high for the price and quantity. My appetizer was tiny, not that delicious, and $10! We weren't even offered desert, so I really can't give my opinion on it. Overall, I wouldn't reccomend the "grille," but there aren't many choices in the area - at least not many that we knew of.

Giving this place a five star! Comfortable place to sleep in. There are some area where you can play the lawn. Sitting by the fireplace and eat s mores and drinking good Minnesota-made beer. The people are friendlier and very charm. We will come back again!

Our family made a over the phone dinner reservation for the restaurant and we were not informed that as a part of the restaurants own policy masks we expected during the meal while eating and when the staff came to the table. We did end up leaving before we ordered as the unprofessionalism from the management and the staff was unacceptable surrounding the mask issue. I ve managed high end restaurants and there is always a better way to handle sensitive issues with your guests. Hospitality should never be compromised and the answer you give the customer is never no the answer is how about this solution Customer service is a Short leap over a deep Canyon. Easy to miss the drop. Keep your attitudes kind even in tough times and you will succeed every time with the guests.

Very pleased! Our room had full sized coffee pot with filters, stove/oven, over-the-range microwave, small fridge, dishes, pots, pans, silverware, dishwasher, jacuzzi and best of all... a fireplace. Paper, matches and wood were provided. Just needed to get wood from any of the wood sheds located in parking lots. Our room had a canvas log carrier and the wood shed had boxes for carrying wood as well. There was no kindling wood but the logs were cut and dried sufficiently that we got fires going without kindling.
Rooms contain a key to an outdoor storage locker for skis/snowboards or the like.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Got the first snowfall of the season during our stay, which made the already fantastic scenery even better.
Will definitely be coming back!

We stayed in to townhouse area, overall the condition of the unit was rather run down. Amenities were not as pictured. Granted the website did say they may differ from pictures. So expect one bad TV in the living room, wallpaper and sheetrock to have a fair bit of damage and overall the units have had no maintenance since construction over 30 years ago. But some units may be updated , ours was not.

We accidentally booked during a beer festival, and if we had known we would have booked somewhere else. The parking was extremely limited, there was music going into the late night (the manager did discuss with them and had it turned off eventually) even though there are quiet hours set for the property. The bed was comfy and the pool/amenities were nice. Our room smelt musty and there was not enough light in the bathroom. The windows are not tinted at all, so you have to make sure you close the blinds right away. Overall Lutsen wasn't quite what we expected during the summer, but is probably much better during the winter.

Nice resort, lots of fun family activities at the resort and outside. Close to the gondola rides and trail access. Was in a townhome and the only complaint was that the loft gets really hot as there's are no ac vents there, and no fan either.

Extremely friendly staff. Great location to the ski hill and snowmobile trail. Lodge rooms were clean and they had ample amount of parking even for trailers. Only downside was that the restaurant was out of a few dishes and service was slow and the hot tub was full every night, but otherwise the amenities were great!

My wife and I stayed there mid September. All I can possibly say is WOW. When we arrived we originally had a king room overlooking the mountain. Once we got in we found a few minor issues that needed addressing so we went to the front desk and asked to change rooms. They went ABOVE and beyond and upgraded us at no additional charge to a 2 level condo. It made our weekend just that much better. Tina specifically was beyond amazing she was a wealth of information and a pleasure to deal with from the time we got there till we left. It's employees like her that will keep guests coming back for more!

We love Lutsen! After looking around, we decided to buy a townhome (Unit 511) at Caribou Highlands. The town homes are ski in/ski out in the winter and have immediate access to hiking trails, ATV trails, snowmachining trails, etc. The staff here are helpful and accommodating. As with any rental properties, there are always challenges in upkeep, but I find that the staff works very hard to maintain a wonderful place here and care for our unit when it is being rented. When things do go wrong, as they occasionally do, everyone pitches in to resolve the situation. That wasn't always the case here, but in the last 2 years, I have seen a massive effort to make everyone's experience awesome. I appreciate the hard work they do here and wanted to publicize the fact that all the changes and hard work haven't gone unnoticed.

Nice place, had my family of 12 stay over for 2 nights. Stayed in the townhomes (poplar). Full kitchen was nice but small... And had a lot of amenities. It was kinda spendy but that also has to do with staying in July. Overall we enjoyed and would consider coming back.

The grounds and amenities are nice, such as the pools, weight room, and hot tub. But the lodge hotel room is merely adequate. The beds are reasonably comfortable, there's a microwave, and a mini fridge. The air conditioning is functional but doesn't get the room very cool, even when the outside temps are in the 50s. There's no light fixture on the room's desk. Two of the room's light bulbs are burned out. The shower head is bad. Big gaps around the window covering. Two washcloths for four people. And there's no clock! Certainly not worth $162/night.

Lots of renovation happening right now (which makes sense given it is summer). This place is conveniently located ~20 minutes from Grand Marais and right next to a bunch of ski hills. I'd recommend staying in the town homes as they are nicer than the hotel rooms and also feel more stereotypical north woods Minnesotan.

So, let me first start by saying that my wife and I didn't even stay there... I had reservations made months in advance, then the day before they called me and told me we were getting a "complimentary upgrade", and they were changing our room. I later checked and found that it was definitely not an upgrade! I was never able to get a straight answer as to why the room was changed, until we finally arrived to check in. The receptionist had a terrible attitude, and I ended up booking a room at one of the best hotels on the North Shore... Superior Shores/Burlington Bay! It's a little more expensive, but the rooms are amazing!!!! And I can safely say, that I have never once been disappointed staying here!

I have paid less to stay in a condo in the Castro with a fireplace and crystal chandelier. The amenities involved lack of sound proofing around the room, a tepid hot tub and a flat screen television quite a bit smaller than my own. Not even close to worth it for $208.50 per night. If you're staying on the North Shore of Lake Superior, book someplace more reasonable early, or go camping instead. Lesson learned.

All hot tubs were out of order, which was a very big disappointment during my stay. Be aware that they are broken for the rest of the ski season if you stay here. The condo I stayed in was decent, plenty of kitchen utensils and room space. However the whole area felt slightly old, but nice rustic space.

Rent a condo. The hotel room was disappointing on several levels. Nasty shower curtain. Shower didn't drain well. Called for service on slow filling toilet. Left sign out for room to be cleaned and that didn't happen. Great location, just needs some TLC and new management.

Great lodging, we had 12 people in our town home. Kitchen is small but plenty of supplies for cooking. Beds are comfortable. We skied in and skied out off of moose access on lutsen, very easy! The hot tub in the pool house is extremely chlorinated, it burned our eyes and lungs. Overall I'd recommend staying here!

This place is beautiful! It is very family friendly and the staff is wonderful! The canoe trip was worth much more than the $5 so make sure to have a few extra bucks to tip the guide. Food at Moguls was great. Service there was also great! And if anyone tells you that you need to go to Grand Maria's, for good pizza, don't bother as Moguls pizza is better than the pizza, we had there!

It's also right by The Alpine Slide and Gandolas to the top of Lutsen! The pools are great for the whole family and we truly enjoyed all the people we met and their furry friends. This place is a little gem.

The only con is the amount of narrow stairways in the Alpine Condos as there are no elevators to help haul in luggage, equipment and other things. And also no help to assist you with climbing 4 flights of stairs. If you're ok with that, this place is Awesome! We will definitely return! P.S. parents... it's in walking distance of a winery/cider house that's amazing and family friendly as well! We were here during the middle of many updates and excited to see the renovations when we come back next year!

My family has been coming here for 13 years. The slopes are some of the best in the Midwest. The townhomes/condos are great for our large groups as they have full kitchens, ample space to congregate, and plenty of places for tired skiers to sleep.
