Why does your pool and beach close at night. People expect to be on vacation and have a late night swim . That is so stupid. You make enough money to hire a life gaurd late at night. Smfh that's why you are not a 5 star hotel ! The only downfall ! Besides being ridiculous expensive! That's why I go to local spots to get all the liquor cuz yall wanna charge 15$ for a small ass Pina colada 9 dollars a beer . Ridiculous!

There is a lack of service that Is alarming for a so-called resort

Poorly run, poorly operated, not worth the time or money in lost patience waiting for management to correct even the simplest of tasks

Restaurants in site are Denny s quality at best

Shame on them for reopening before having placed service and amenities before gains

Love the hotel and views and nice grounds. Modern yet I appreciate the old, almost art deco flair. Dislike how sounds from hallway and neighbors can be heard...sneezing, coughing and flatulence as well as door slams and talking from down the hall. No wash cloths in my room and the way the air shuts off when no motion was detected was annoying. As a day sleeper, my room got quite hot until I got up and the sensor turned the air back on.

Stayed here a week and cannot wait to go back!!! Most of the staff is incredibly friendly. Loved the atmosohere and the outdoors with the private beach, pool and bars/grill. Even has a couple Starbucks (full one inside and a hut out on the beach). Loved it here! Only wish they would advertise more about the daily activities and try to get more people involved.

It was a great hotel, but for the price, I didn't feel like we were getting a truly excellent experience. We did get upgraded to an ocean view room with a great view and newly renovated room, but we hoped for more for our honeymoon. Drinks at the hotel were also rather expensive. Overall a good experience, not excellent.

I visit here every year, and every time I go to Puerto Rico. The staff has always been friendly, the rooms of always been clean, and the location is right between Old San Juan and Condado, which is also favorable. The Pina Coladas at the Restaurant on the corner are unbelievable. The salt water pool is amazing, bring your snorkeling gear, and be prepared to see tons of marine life in a safe environment.

When you charge 500 dollars and more for a standard room, you need to face $500 of expectations. Hotel was ok I guess but our experience wasn t so good... here s what happened:

1. We had high expectations for knowing hotel was recently renovated. But the rooms was still under par. When we first got into our so called upgraded room, the wall plug next to the sink popped out of the wall and exposing the high voltage wires. The second day the sink plug stopped working and they had to had someone to replace some broken parts. Only good thing was they sent the repairman pretty soon.
2. The bathroom has only one sink whereas the pictures on Hilton website shows two.
3. It s really noisy when you open the balcony door.
4. We called the front desk one day to ask them bring us some plastic bags and the bags never show up.
5. On Dec. 24th, they changed the breakfast hours to 11am without notifying me. I checked my emails afterwards and I never received anything about it. We arrived at the restaurant 11am or 11:01am and they told me the restaurant was closed and asked us to go to a different restaurant, Rustics, for our free continental breakfast. When we got to Rustics, they asked us for vouchers to allow us in and we had no vouchers. The two restaurants sent us back and forth because they have no agreement on where we should go. Then I got mad for wasting us 15mins, and they finally allow us to go to the original restaurant under the condition of doing the upgrades. Very bad experience.
6. The room service on Dec. 28th did not clean the toilet and put new towels in the room. The face tissues were out for two days and not being replenished.
7. We stay for 7 nights. Our reservation was split into three different ones, 5+1+1. We talked to the front desk when we checked in and ask them to combine the reservations so that we can have a smooth stay without any hassle. And they told me everything was handled. However, our room keys was deactivated on the 6th day. We had to go downstairs to front desk for new keys. We had a long tried day and one of the hotel elevator was out of order. Going down and back up took 15 mins.
8. Our continental breakfast should be free. However, everyday we receive a different check at the restaurant. Sometimes it 10 per person, sometimes 18 per person. The waiters told us the front desk will do the discount. I know they put something there for tips. But the different price looks very unprofessional.

I got this room at an amazing rate through a third party online company. Needless to say the place is great. Has everything you need and then some. Their beach alone is worth staying at as it has its own little cove with crystal clear waters. The bar at night is nice as well. The staff is very helpful & polite all around. Only negative I would say is certain parts of the hotel are dated but it is one of the older resorts around. This is just me not picking. The place looks great. Highly recommended!

Awesome! From the accomidations to the staff the grounds, the many pools and hot tubs, the private beach, the great snorkeling, the spa, and the swim up bar. It's an incredible experience. We have come to this resort twice and lived it both times. The food is definitely over priced. I paid $70 for mac n cheese with french fries and ice cream through room service, that I shared with my daughter. There is a Walmart 10 min away where you can pick up breakfast and lunch items to save a bit of money. The Pina Colada Club is very good and slightly more reasonable.

Lobby Bar Service and Italian Restaurant are great, Housekeeping OK, No Points
I stayed at the Hilton Caribe at the end of October and knew about the shooting they had there in July, but wanted to keep my reservation and see if security had been beefed up. I went with some friends and we requested adjoining rooms prior to arriving. The adjoining room wasn t available when I checked in at 3:30, so I waited until 5:45 and it still wasn t ready so I took any room that was. Room was fairly clean and odor free. I used to work for AAA so I have been trained on inspecting rooms. I did notice some candy wrappers in almost every corner, at the refrigerator, along the base of the bed, and under the desk. Seemed like the vacuum pushed them and they were never picked up. I left them there until I had my housekeeping visit, but they were never removed. So, I picked one of them up, unwrapped it and it was a Ricola cough drop wrapper. I picked all but one of them up and threw them away. Bathroom was clean and the shower curtain had no mildew smell. Mentioning cough drops, the room quietness could be improved, I did hear the man in the room against my headboard coughing from about 4:45 am until I got out of bed the first morning and the sound of the local airport generated some noise around 5:30 every morning. It was nice seeing the sun rise over the water. The pool area does have a security guard that checks your bag and instructs you to get a wrist band at the towel hut. Although at the pool bar one day there was a woman I smiled at as I was walking by and she screamed at me F@$& the CIA . I just laughed it off because the security staff seemed to be keeping an eye on her. I made sure I charged everything to the room because I gave them my Hilton Rewards card at check in and was only one stay away from the next level of benefits. The beach is nice, the pools are nice, there is a nice plaza that you can access through a walkway across the street from the hotel that has an awesome Mercado. Checkout was smooth and the bell hop even weighed my luggage so I could make sure the rum from Bacardi didn t make it overweight. Flew home and a few weeks later was looking to see how many points I d accumulated and didn t have any. I also noticed I couldn t open the receipt like I could from the other Hilton stays through the year. I emailed the Hilton points program and was informed that because I used a third party to book my room, I wasn t able to get points or credit for the stay. That seemed strange because none of the other 3 stays I had at Hiltons over the last 12 months were made directly through the hotel, I used my employers travel agent. And for this vacation, I just used the American Express travel option so I could pay for flight and hotel in one transaction. Based on the way the points were not given, and that I can t access my receipt, I am led to believe this property only licenses the name Hilton and isn t a true Hilton property. I haven t booked a stay directly with the hotel to notice the difference yet though, and I m thinking I wouldn t even bother and would stay at the Marriott down the street.

Our all time favorite Christmas vacation destination! Once we arrived we were met by a baggage handler who helped us to our room, he was very nice and spoke perfect English. Thanks Jody! Then we came back down for lunch and BOOM! There was More

As a free-flight bird trainer, I was disappointed ...

As a free-flight bird trainer, I was disappointed that this seemingly grandiose hotel would put up a pair of macaws as "decoration".

The cage lay-out seemed to be suited more for humans' aesthetic rather than the birds' benefit. Instead of having branches that are sticking upward and diagonal from the middle, I would suggest replacing them with two branches that are long enough to meet the ends of the cage, (preferably with one branch thicker and placed higher than the other, to encourage exercise and prevent bumblefoot), so that the birds can fly to and from them, then moving the toys to be adjacent to the perches, so as to be more accessible to the birds and not obstruct their flight space. This would not only be better for the birds' physical and mental well-being, but it would also be more entertaining for the guests to see them flying from perch to perch than to simply watch the birds sit on the only horizontal branches there and do nothing. What's the point of showcasing birds if they're not able to do what they were born to do?

Also, parrots need sunlight for a multitude of reasons: For healthy, good-looking feathers, for their unique ultraviolet vision, for accurate circadian day-and-night cycles (which will allow them better sleep and less aggressive behavior), but most importantly, for vitamin D to absorb the calcium that they are (hopefully) getting from their diets. Otherwise, their already hollow bones may warp out of shape and become extremely prone to breaking. To fix this, I would suggest removing the windows above the cage, moving the cage itself to a location without windows above them, or at the very least, installing a UVB light inside or on top of their cage. Again, this is not only for the birds' benefit, but this can also make the set-up appear more attractive.

Another essential element for healthy, clean, vibrant feathers is bathing. All birds bathe or get rained on in the wild. This is a simple fix -- just place a large pan, wider than the width of the bird and at least 2" deep, on the floor of the cage. This is also a good way for the birds to cool down if they need to, and will be fun to watch.

As a final suggestion, birds spend about 7 hours per day working for their food. Caged birds are often given food freely, which causes them to suddenly have nothing to do, or at least, no motivation to do anything but conserve their energy. If you want your birds to be more entertaining to people, as well as fulfill their wild instincts, try having foraging toys hanging on different parts of the cage, so that the birds are moving around more and solving the little puzzles daily to get at their food. People could spend hours in the lobby watching the birds stretch their wings while basking in the sunlit portion of their cage, splashing in their bath pan, manipulating their foraging toys, and flying from perch to perch.

Honestly, everything else about the hotel was great, but seeing these beautiful birds have less than ideal conditions made me feel depressed every time I looked at them. It might not appear like abuse to the uninformed, but for macaws that have such complex needs, it might as well be! Do right by the birds, or just don't have macaws. It's unprofessional.

I'll change this review to 5 stars if I'm informed that some progressive changes are in place. Otherwise, if you love birds or animals in general, I suggest you avoid this hotel or complain to the staff to try to generate change, as seeing their conditions will dampen your mood.

Extremely expensive, resort fitness and dance classes are rather mediocre, and live music at night is less than inspiring. The restaurants are quite delicious and style-oriented; however again, pricey.

The caribe was an amazing hotel to stay at, it had cool pools great beach access and offered an amazing facility. It was a great place to meet up. The rooms we stayed at were very nice and had a great view and the service was amazing all the staff was very nice. However everything at the caribe was overpriced and we had to find other places to go eat and gave drinks. And because it's so massive you can get lost in the towers

It is very clean and beautiful place. It is by the sea and the entrance of the bay. In addition To the side there is a fortress which served so that the colonizers of that time protected the entrance of the enemies.

Nothing beats a baby-cation and Caribe Hilton was where my hubby and I stayed at. It is also where the WORLD-FAMOUS Pina Colada was invented, or so they say! First of all, Caribe Hilton has its own private beach although it is not completely sandy. You can still do some skinny dip even though hard core swimming is not generally recommended here. There is also a gorgeous pool where you can enjoy the clear water. Be aware of loving couples and young children who tend not to move around much in here. There is a pool side bar that builds right inside the pool. So, if you want to swim while drunk, you can do that easily :)

The room itself is spacious and kept clean. You could tell the hotel has some history to it but in general it is clean and very closely located to Old San Juan. You can take a bus right outside the hotel for 30 cents per trip! Just be aware the trip to San Juan is short and semi-ghetto. You will see the run down buildings and ghetto on the ride. We fortunately had no issues riding the bus!

The Pina Colada Cafe where the drink was legendly invented is a reliable on-site restaurant. They serve Puerto Rican dishes such as Mofongo and it is very delicious. The price is as if you were dining in a NYC cafe/restaurant. Nothing surprises me as a New Yorker.

In the lobby bar, they have live performance during the weekends and happy hour during the day. It is a great place to chill after you hang out at the pool/beach all day and don't want to trek out to Old San Juan. After all, there isn't much in walking distance around the hotel other than a Subway and an Puerto Ricanized Chinese restaurant.

Would love to come back again for a family trip!

Birth place of the Pina Colada, with a swim up bar to do it justice. The resort grounds make this special, from the private beach and lounge area to the garden with exotic fish and birds. Location is perfect and the staff friendly. This is the place to stay during trips to San Juan.

Check your charges!! It was strange that 2 separate parties from my group, each with their own room, were charged for about $100 of drinks at the bar that they never had... be mindful of your room charges. The front desk lady did remove the charge quickly and other than that, place was beautiful.

This hotel has it's own beach and a pool. The beach has a rock wall not too high so there are not any big waves there and there is a floating platform where the water is about 6 feet deep and very very fun. They have hammocks and 2 Jacuzzis. The only thing i didnt like was that my room was too far from the pool and beach.

Very scenic hotel, right next to the beach and ocean. Would have got 5-star if they had not imprisoned two innocent parrots in a small cage in the hotel lobby, solely for the joy of human beings.

Upon arrival, the room had not been swept and there was an oily residue on the tile. We were given free continental breakfast as a result. However, the walls in the rooms are paper thin where you can hear coughing and any noise, the cabana beds look like they have never been washed, and the pina coladas at the pool bar nearly gave us food poison because of the sour milk. Also the bathroom cabinets look like they purchased them from a thrift store, along with the other furniture in the room (as I lay here typing this and analyzing the second-hand quality of our room).

The absolute only reason that we didn't leave is because this was my first mother/daughter trip and I wanted my mom to have an amazing time and not be disappointed. However, if it weren't a holiday weekend and if I were here on business by myself, then I would have asked for my money back and attempted to stay somewhere else.

Do better Caribe Hilton!

UPDATE: Our room sink started leaking and we had to leave our room. The new room was supposedly 'ocean view' and clearly all I saw was the top of the building.

I will never come back here!

Not a bad hotel, nice pool good amenities. The ice machine was not functioning in the third floor. Also be aware if you have a dji drone that this resort is both in and out of a no fly zone. Your done will land if inside that zone and there will be nothing you can do except watch your 2k drone sink within 20 seconds. As me how I know

The hotel had beautiful premises and a great room, especially for the price. The area was nice and safe to walk around and run in with beach access points on and off property and the same could be said for restaurants. The service was great, quick acting and effective on tasks.

The Caribe Hilton is just short of amazing. The location is lovely, and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. However, the pool was remarkably cold, almost unusable. The breakfast situation is not under control and thus disappointing. With a bit of tweaking, this could be perfect!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel from April 13th until April 18th 2017. The place is nice, large rooms, the cleaning needs improvement. Nice restaurants but it's expensive even the breakfast is redicouslously expensive. The hotel doesn't have any night entertainment, so if you're looking for a place to have fun this isn't the place for you is superrrrrr, extra BORING.

Bad service and no correction by supervisor

I visited the Caribe Hilton for breakfast. The valet attendant told me it would be $28 for valet, or if I eat at the restaurant they would validate my parking. I ate at the restaurant, and they said they would only validate self-parking, not valet. Another valet attendant then told me only self-parking is validated and I needed to pay $28. I asked to escalate this to the manager, who quickly did not care and said I have to pay $28. Clearly this was a communication issue and they have to train their staff. I would have expected clear communications and proper rectification by the supervisor. Needless to be said, I will be choosing elsewhere in the future due to this interaction as it clearly shows their apathy in customer service.

Last July 4, 2015 I had the worst experience in the hotels visited with my family compared to others. (Mariott Condado, Gran Melia Rio Grande, Conquistador Fajardo, Club Cala Palmas del Mar, Costa Bonita Culebra and even the Howard Johnson in Mayaguez .
IT IS NOT OF MY RECOMMENDATION the Super Disgusting Pool not only the water but the corners with Mold. The very hard bed was better to sleep on the floor, the terrible pillows.
And the BORICUAS waiters in the RESTAURANT as if they did not see you when the other tourists went out of their way to attend them.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT BEFORE VISITING THE CARIBBEAN HILTON PLEASE CHECK OTHERS WITH BEST SERVICE AND TREATMENT.

Wife and I went for our anniversary. We were lucky enough to get the top room in a tower away from the crowd. Breath taking views. We went in between major holidays so there were no crowds. My only complaint is that the building itself needs to be refreshed. Maybe a new coat of paint. Oh and our bed was too soft if that's a thing so it became uncomfortable over time. Otherwise we loved it and would definitely be going back.
