While the food is absolutely delicious, I can't seem to overlook the price. The Unagi Donburi bowl was over $20 on Doordash Pickup and while the unagi was a good portion, there wasn't much to go along with the very small portion of rice and veggies. I would have expected a larger bowl with more rice, even a larger on the side to complement the high price point. The spicy tuna roll is also quite pricy at $6.75 and it was extremely tasty but 8 small pieces of a roll would not have been enough for an appetizer unless you wanted a snack. Overall it's a nice place to grab some great food every once in a while if you can swallow the price.

This place has really fresh fish, fun staff, open late, and great prices. Not bargain basement (who wants that when it comes to sushi), but a good deal. It's counter service, take out, or delivery only, but really nice, contemporary, and clean inside.

Nice and courteous staff with fast efficient service. The sushi was delicious and moderately priced. Presentation and quantity were excellent. If atmosphere is what you are looking for then this is not the place for you. BUT if you are in the mood for good and I mean good sushi then Cardinal Sushi is the place to be. I will be a returning customer for sure.

Pretty good sushi for really reasonable prices. They are also open super late which is nice. Conveniently located near Stanford campus. Not great for dinning in as it's so small with only a few tables, but pretty quick for takeout (or order ahead).

Guys stop rating this restaurant based on the poor delivery service that Doordash provides. I waited over 2 hours for my order which in no way was Cardinal's fault. Surprisingly when my food finally arrived it was still really tasty. My gyoza was cold of course, again not Cardinal's fault. My chirashi bowl was the best I've found in town so far. All the fish was fresh and flavorful despite sitting out for an hour and a half. My only real complaint is that I ordered smoked salmon nigiri and revived regular salmon. I ate it anyways, no biggie. It appears Cardinal uses a third party delivery service that they should maybe consider changing. At the 2 hour mark I called Cardinal and not only was the person the phone polite and helpful but also shared that there were several other orders backed up as the delivery person had not arrived yet. I contacted Doordash and got a delivery person, other than who actually delivered my food, who gave me inaccurate information and rushed me off the phone. I attempted to contact their customer service with no answer. I deleted their app and will either pick up myself or give Postmates another try.

This is a Palo Alto staple. My ONLY qualm with this place is that they take foooooreeeevvver to make there sushi and there isn't a good.llace to sit down and there no AC. They also need a.fountain drink option. You can Get coke by the can.

Absolutely delicious; exactly what I wanted. Glad they have late hours because some people often get off work late and need a place to eat. This is one of my favorite sushi places because they also deliver.

After receiving royal status at Cardinal Sushi, how can I neglect to review it?
As a Cardinal myself, I have special motivation to give this place business. My sake sashimi cravings have resulted in trying a number of different sushi restaurants in the area. Cardinal delivers on numerous accounts and wins out!
This is not really a dine in place unless you want a really casual intimate dining experience. Don't come here on a date. It's a perfect place to order out from. Some things that make it the best take out sushi restaurant in the area are fresh, well prepared and packaged food. They will be generous with the extra ginger or low sodium soy sauce. The miso soup is wrapped in Saran Wrap thereby eliminating potential spills. They provide a small container to mix soy sauce and wasabi in. They also provide chop sticks and a napkin. The container and wrapping are exceptional from a service point of view.
The sashimi, soup, rolls and nigiri are all excellent. The prices are quite reasonable for sushi standards. (This isn't McDonalds people!)
Another MAJOR bonus is it's open late! This is a shock considering we are in a college town and one would expect many establishments to stay open late. Not so! Palo Alto is a notoriously sleepy town. If dinner means eating past 8:30 pm, you might be out of luck. Lucky for you Cardinal Sushi is open!
If you're in the Stanford/Palo Alto area and have a craving for sushi, make Cardinal Sushi your choice!

Whenever I'm craving sushi past midnight this is definitely my go to place -besides it being the only sushi place open super late- their sushi is pretty good hasn't disappointed me yet. Fish is fresh, rice is good texture & the rolls aren't too saucy like most sushi places which tend to drown their rolls in too much. Sushi rolls are always consistent

Even though the restaurant itself is small, the quality and taste of the food is way better then a lot of the big restaurants. This is the perfect example for the phrase don t judge a book by its cover . The place is clean, the food taste super fresh, and the lady at the cash register is super sweet. I don t normally write reviews for take out but I had to when I saw the words written on the box. It s now my favorite restaurant in this area.
