We had a great time celebrating a birthday on the Flying Tiger. Excellent captain, great snacks, and amazing views. Highly recommend!

After two previous experiences with Captain Kirk Sailing, we booked this as a team event for work. The third time was just as much fun as the first time! We booked the Osprey for 3 hours for ~15 people on a Friday in September and lucked out on perfect weather. Captain Sparky and the crew were very friendly and took care of everything including grabbing us tasty finger food and drinks for the trip (we booked the sunset snacks food package for $20 per person).

They are able to pick you up in San Francisco for an extra fee or you can meet them in Sausalito. Once aboard you are given a safety debrief and a lifejacket which must be worn at all times. After that, you plan your sailing adventure with the Captain and are off! I would highly recommend for team, family, birthdays or pretty much any event where you want to get to be on the water with a knowledgeable trustworthy crew doing some sailing!

It was a real dream come true for Jessica who took the helm and steered us across the Bay on our way back.

I surprised my boyfriend with a birthday sailing adventure with a group of friends and we all had a blast with Captain Kirk and his crew on the Osprey. They were the best! We brought our own food and drinks, and I was pleasantly surprised when they uncorked and brought out the wine for us, along with cute plastic glasses. They also organized our snacks into bowls and picnic baskets. They were incredibly thoughtful and fun to share several hours with.

I decided to do an evening sail from 6-9 so that we could all go out afterwards. The weather started off sunny and quite warm for about 10 minutes, then turned windy and incredibly cold! Luckily, the crew had plenty of warm blankets for us. Next time I'll most likely choose an earlier sail time :).

My sons and I went sailing with Captain Kirk and Nancy. We had never been sailing before, had the best time, and are ready to go again! Capt. Kirk was engaging and fun, and especially important in the midst of Covid, safe. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone.

We chartered the Flying Tiger for a birthday - was the perfect size for our party of 3. Captain Sparky was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and personable. We enjoyed our 4 hour sail with him as our captain. The food and drinks were perfect and of good quality. You really do get some of the best views from the water - it was an amazing day - thank you again Captain Sparky & team!

We went sailing with Captain Kirk as a team outing. It was a great experience for everybody - some folks even got to sail the ship for a little while. We passed under the Golden Gate Bridge, saw many seals and even some dolphins. Sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge and seeing the city from there is a very different experience than driving over the bridge.

We also docked at Angel Island and had a very nice picnic there. Captain Kirk and his crew provided not only food and drink, but also took us on a short hike on the island to a great viewpoint from which we could see the city. There was a bit of history there, too.

This was my second time sailing with Captain Kirk - I went with my family more than 10 years ago, on a vacation before we lived in the Bay Area. I still remembered that first trip very fondly and thought it would be great to repeat the experience with my team at work - and it was. I highly recommend Captain Kirk and his crew.

I had a wonderful trip with captain Kirk's two times. Both times I sailed with captain Dogen and his team was super nice and professional. They do whatever you ask until it's safe. The food on board is excellent. White wine, beer, very good cheeses, humus, vegetables, crackers... They're always on time and don't try to slack and finish sooner. Overall super happy with my experience.

Fantastic experience. We had a big group for a wedding and they were completely accommodating with our ever-changing details. Everyone had a once-in-a-lifetime day on our trip around the bay and over to Angel Island. Captain Kirk was a pro, and so were all of the other staff on-board and on the island. I couldn't have been happier.

Enjoyed a day on the SF Bay with Captain Kirk and crew for a work event and had such a good time I booked another charter a few weeks later. The second sailing was with Capt Dogan and Effe' when we had family in town. We were a small group of 6 and everyone raved about what a great time they had!

Ten of us went for a ride out past the Golden Gate today. It was one of the most beautiful days I have ever had on the bay. Everything was perfect: parking was easy; the food and drink were wonderful; the boat is spectacular; we were entertained by tales from the captain! The Bay Wolf will be my new favorite tour. I will bring anyone who visits me here from the east coast for a bay cruise with Captain Kirk.

BEST DAY EVER! If you re wondering if it s worth doing, the answer is YES! Sue was so wonderful booking it and Captain Kirk and Sean made it so much fun to sail, ask questions, dine, and just relax. On the bay you can t hear any traffic or the hustle and bustle, the sights and sounds of the waves are beautiful, and you couldn t be stuck on the water for 3 hours with better people!

Best day ever! Our group of 6 had an amazing day sailing around the Bay with Captain Kirk. We each got the chance to sail the boat and saw some incredible wildlife - Humpback Whales, porpoises and seals! The crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Our group of five (including my 96 year old Uncle, well catered for) had a great day out that was filled with Kirks knowledge of the Harbour, its tides, its wildlife and its stories. Letting us all take a turn at the helm was an unexpected bonus. From start to finish a great time had by all. Highly recommended

Three of us (including a 10 year-old) cruised the Bay for the purpose of scattering ashes. Captain Andy and Peter were professional, courteous, sensitive, friendly, educational, and lots of fun. I give them the highest recommendation.

Just what We needed!

Captain Dogen took seven of us out on the Osprey for a 3 hour tour that took us from SF Pier 39 up past the Golden Gate Bridge and then back around Alcatraz and under the Bay Bridge again. Anyone who wanted got a chance at the wheel. Dogen was very nice, entertaining, and knowledgeable. This was the main activity of a bachelor party and it was a hit with everyone. I highly recommend it.

Tips: the 11am slot is calmer, allowing us to get to the Golden Gate at all. Calm water also means it's easier to eat and drink! You can bring food and drink with you (we did), but they also provide some basics, like bottled water, ships, and sunscreen.

Captain Kirk's sailing is the best!!! This was our 2nd time sailing with them and we had an absolutely wonderful time. A group of 20 of us took a late night sail with Captain Sparky and his crew could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. We all brought drinks and food and the crew was more than happy to bring out anything we needed or asked for so we didn't even have to get up or miss any of the beautiful view. Their level of customer service well exceeds expectations and the crew were a joy to spend the evening with. We will most definitely sail with them again!

If I could give Captain Kirk's and their entire team 6 stars, I would.
I proposed to my girlfriend of 5 years last week on the 50ft Osprey, and the experience exceeded my expectations and I couldn't have asked for anything better.

I booked the Osprey only a week in advance and their team of Susan and Allison were extremely helpful throughout the booking process. The pricing was very competitive with the other chartering companies I called, and included in the pricing was food and drinks, and they even did me the favor of picking up the champagne in advance of the trip.
The day of the trip, Captain Dogen was exteremly helpful in the actual proposal process. We were visiting from out of town, I was very nervous, and he gave me a few ideas of when and where to do it, and wow was he right.

The actual proposal was perfect in so many ways, and the back drop for the picture opportunity was amazing! It was a perfect shot of the Golden Gate bridge, with the city skyline right behind it!

After the proposal, the crew brought out a charcuterie board and an entire plate of various chocolates! Now, I was told sandwiches and snacks, but again, this far exceeded my expectations and it showed their attention to detail. It also showed they knew this was a special day and that the presentation was important.

In regards to the actual sailing experience, it was amazing! The weather was perfect, the views were amazing and Captain Dogen would provide countless, interesting facts about the city.

If you are just looking to charter a boat for a few hours and take in the sights of San Francisco from the Bay, or are looking to do a proposal for a significant other, I would strongly, strongly recommend Captain Kirk's, the entire team is AMAZING and made my day extremely special!

We had a team building day on the Osprey with Captain Dogen and his team for 15 people on June 2017. We spent a wonderful day, everything was perfect, the organization, the preparation, the timing. All the Captain Kirk's team was very kind and professional, the BBQ on Angel Island was probably the highlight, I definitely recommend this option. People still come back to me with a lot a good comments about this day, definitely a good way to bound people together. We will sail again with Captain Kirk's in the future.

Captain Kirk's San Francisco Sailing helped create the perfect 30th birthday gift for my wife. When my original plans fell through with another company the day of our trip, I called Sue who was incredibly kind and understanding and helped me rebook my trip for that upcoming weekend! She was also willing to work with me on my price, which really showed how much they care to help their customers. Both Sue and Captain Kirk were so informational and did everything they could to reasonably accomodate the requests of my group. During the trip, Captain Kirk shared the wonderful history he knew of the Bay Area and the wildlife and was very enjoyable to chat with! Nancy was also very sweet and shared her knowledge with us as well! Communication was amazing and very professional. Everything worked out seamlessly. Overall, I'm just itching to book another trip with them and give this magical experience to my out of town friends and family!! 100% Recommend!

We were a group of 7, wrapping up our US Motorbike Road Trip in San Francisco. From the moment I called the Captain to book until goodbye the experience was perfect. We set sail on a very windy and choppy afternoon, sailing in the bay in those conditions was an adventure to say the least. But the captain and crew made us calm and comfortable. After we docked, a friend left his wallet behind and realized it once we reached our downtown hotel. Few minutes behind was the Captain himself with the wallet. Needless to say, Hats off Captain and thank you for a wonderful experience!

I had never been on a sailing before. Today I sailed with Captain Sparky. Sparky is a very professional sailor who understood my needs and listened very closely to my inquiries. This made my first sailing experience a comfortable and great one.

Took my first Muy Thai class there last weekend. The instructors were great, it was the 8am class. I liked how the class wasn't too packed and I felt the instructors were very attentive. The bags are firm and seem new, it's spacious in there and very clean! Can't wait for my upcoming class.

Captain Dogen and his crew sailed my team through the bay on a beautiful October day. My work teammates loved the outing. We did everything from relaxing, and eating (cheese, grapes and crackers, drinking non-alcoholic beverages and/or wine and beer), to hoisting the sail and steering. We saw plenty of wild porpoise as we sailed beneath the Golden Gate bridge (which was the coolest view I've had of the bridge since I moved here more than ten years ago). I'd highly recommend booking your next event with Captain Kirk's SF Sailing!

We had a fantastic time on the boat! We had captain Dogen and he was EXTREMELY laid back and flexible. He made sure we liked the course we were headed out on and made sure we always had a drink in hand! It was perfect for the 30th birthday we were celebrating. He let everyone who wanted to take a turn driving the boat, we loved it!

So, so, so, so, so, so, so great. Beyond 5 stars. This is the best thing to do in San Francisco.

We expected a tour; what we got was a "best day ever" experience. It started when I was booking the tour. Sue at the office was incredibly kind and helpful. She made me feel valued and welcome and went out of her way to ensure we'd have a great trip.

Captain Kirk and Katie were amazing. They were super knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive hosts. The sailing experience wasn't just a tour; it was interactive. We were invited to assist with ropes, sails, and with steering the sailboat. We were of course carefully supervised the entire time; but assisting, and in particular steering, the sailboat was exciting and and was a true learning experience.

The views of San Francisco, Angel Island, Alcatraz, the bridges (including the Golden Gate) and the coast were stunning. Captain Kirk kept the conversation going with a narrative regarding the architecture and history of San Francisco and the science of sailing. Katie was knowledgeable about whales and looked out for animals for us. We saw several harbor porpoises. Both were personable, entertaining, and kind.

I'd requested a special beer for our celebration and Captain Kirk and Katie had stocked it, along with local beers, and fabulous snacks, including produce and cheese. They truly cared about our comfort and tried to customize our experience to be as fun and satisfying as possible.

Additionally, part of the proceeds of the experience go to charity. What could be better??? Enjoying yourself AND saving the world. ; )

Again, this is the best thing you can do in San Francisco. We saw several other sailing tours from our boat and none looked as professionally done or as exciting as Captain Kirk's. I highly recommend this experience, from THIS company.

I booked a trip with Captain Kirk's Sailing to do an ash scattering ceremony for my mom. Captain Sparky and his assistant were friendly, kind and sensitive to our trip's purpose. We went out to a beautiful area of Angel Island, and they gave us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. Everything was very professional and they helped make us as comfortable as we could be under those kinds of circumstances. Capt Mark along with crew Brian and Sean took family members to scatter my mother's ashes in the bay near Angel Island. They took us to the location wherer we had scattered our father's 14 years ago. The crew is wonderful. Kind, respectful and friendly. They help to make the experience a beautiful memory.

We sailed on the Osprey from Oakland with Captain Doggan and his crew. All of which were polite, friendly and helpful. From the very beginning they made this a very special event and as the sunset, the crew bought out cozy fleece blankets.

My family recently booked a four hour sail with Captain Kirk's. We did the sailing tour in winter [January 2020] which was cool but not too cold. Our excellent Captain and his first mate were superb. I have wanted to sail around the SF bay for many years. It was all that I had hoped it might be. There was four of us [2 adults and 2 children]. Nobody was sea sick. It was a wonderful experience and happy to give a 5 star review. We had some lunch and some drinks on the sail which I would also recommend.
Our skipper mentioned that winter can be a really good time to book a sail due to lower prospect of significant fog and less sailing traffic. No doubt summer sailing would be fantastic but just wanted to mention that we found sailing in January was really good so I would not just aim for a summer sail and I wouldn't avoid sailing in winter. I would love to do this sailing tour again.

A friend was visiting from out of town, so we booked an open ocean sail. Sue was great as she helped me find the right day and time. If you're from out of town, Captain Kirk's is a great alternative to the cookie cutter tourist Bay cruise. If you're local, this is an awesome way to experience the water without feeling like a tourist. A private charter cruise? Doesn't get any better!

Captain Joe and Sophie were great, teaching us about sailing and really just spending an enjoyable afternoon with us on the Bay. By the end of the four hours, we felt like we had made two new friends. The lunch was tasty, the water was relaxing, and the experience was unforgettable.

We contacted Captain Kirk to schedule an ash-scattering on the Bay for a deceased relative. Working with them initially via email and then by phone was a pleasure. Sue in their office could not have been more helpful in answering questions, making suggestions, and ultimately booking the event. She followed up each step with a confirmation email. The day of the sailing we met Cap'n Dogen Hanah and Efe at Jack London Square. They were friendly, efficient, understanding, and clearly skilled. They explained what our options for the day were, made some gentle suggestions, (lee side of Angel Island) and welcomed us aboard. Our first conversation was about safety aboard. While we were all experienced sailors, I very much appreciated their attention to our well-being. The boat was beautiful (Osprey) and it was a gorgeous morning, so we were able to hang out on deck for the entire voyage. Both Captain Dogen and Efe checked in to make sure we were doing well or needed anything, and kept us posted on weather and destination options. When it came time for the actual scattering, Captain Dogen gave us the benefit of his experience in how to proceed, and then both he and Efe disappeared into the cockpit, affording our family privacy and intimacy for the scattering. We were served lunch aboard, and the deli, vegi, and drinks offerings were tasty and plentiful.

I would not hesitate to book Captain Kirk's Sailing again, though hopefully next time for a less solemn occasion.

We took a 3-hour lesson with Captain Dogen and it was fantastic! Boat was super clean and Captain Dogen was very patient with us. He did a great job explaining all the physics of sailing and how to do the different manuevers. Definitely recommend these guys to anyone looking to learn sailing, or anyone who just wants to enjoy some cruising in the Bay!

Capt Kirk and crew did a great job for our team building excursion for work on 04/26/16. The entire crew was knowledgable, patient and very attentive. The food and beverages were delicious. We all had fun steering the boat and sailing around San Francisco Bay and under the Golden Gate Bridge! We kept their record intact with no one going overboard so they still can claim a 100% record! A fun time and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again!!!

Captain Kirk and his crew were incredibly helpful in helping me set up a very last minute work offsite (less than a weeks notice). They were flexible and understanding. The trip itself was great and the crew was fun. We had a great time.

We took a sunset cruise over the weekend; it was a fantastic experience. Many of us sailed for the first time; and no one got seasick. Captain Dogen and his crew were definitely professional, and very nice people. We went on board from Jack London square, which was very convenient, and easy to get in and out. Definitely recommended !!

I booked 11 people on the Bay Wolf with Captain Dogen. We were fortunate enough during our 4 hour sail to see whales out of the gate, reach alongside the foiling Maserati trimaran, go around Alcatraz and float behind Tiburon in the sun. The crew was very attentive and provided top service, arranging our food and drink on platters and bringing them above deck for us to enjoy. Everyone on our cruise felt accommodated. Despite it being a windy day on the bay, the boat was sailed smoothly and all maneuvers were made to ensure we were comfortable.

For the money this was a great value and I would recommend to a friend.

We chartered a few hours on the bay with a group of six including 2 kids and 1 adult who had never sailed. Everything was as advertised, the skipper very experienced, the mate very nice as well. A good time was had by all. Snacks and lunch were provided and the skipper suggested a route that worked out well, with some stiff wind along the way and a nice sheltered spot off Angel Island for lunch. Much more intimate than those big boats and the bay sure is beautiful.

Absolutely incredible experience. Captain Efe and first mate Brian were excellent hosts. We had a wonderful time sailing out under the Golden Gate Bridge, around Alcatraz, and back to harbor in Sausalito. The boat is beautiful, booking is easy, it s not too expensive, and it s open with appropriate Covid-19 precautions. Dress warm because the bay is cold, but definitely go sailing with these fine people!!

Captain Dogen, wow he was absolutely a delight, very professional. Absolutely a joy to be around. He even let us steer the boat. Aaron was a awsom Co Captain he was also very respectable, even captured a few romantic shots for my wife and I. Fed us fruits/veggies sadwiches and so much more snacks. They both showed awsome team-work, even turned the boat around to get a few backgrounds that set the tone for our photos. We bonded and i actually was sad to leave. They made me feel like we can invite them to next year thanksgiving dinner lol

I wanted to give my brother the gift of a sailing trip for his 50th birthday gift because he always talked about getting back out on a sailboat after he had sailed for a company team building event. After researching I decided to book with Captain Kirk. From my first call with him until we left the boat this was a wonderful experience. They made sure I was aware of the limitations and requirements due to the covid pandemic, but even with those we had a wonderful trip. Part of what I really wanted for my brother was some hands on sailing but we knew that would be limited due to Covid, but Captain Dogen really went the extra mile to give my brother a true hands on experience while still being safe regarding the pandemic. We were already talking about booking another trip while we were pulling into the dock. I don't feel this review is stating enough of how good Captain Dogen was, it was abundantly clear to all of us, that our happiness and enjoyment with our trip was his first priority (well, maybe 2nd after our safety). Thank you Captain Kirk, Captain Dogen and Nancy, you will be hearing from us again.

Hi Sailing Crew!

I just wanted to give a HUGE shout out to Captain (Dogen) and the amazing crew (Aaron and Gina?) that manned the yacht and managed our diverse team here at Alta Distribution. Everyone had a memorable experience and are now reinvigorated to tackle their jobs with ferocity!

We went on an SF sail with Captain Dogen's crew in May and had an amazing time!

For reference, there were 18 of us (team building offsite) on the Osprey with 3-4 crew members. The crew was simply outstanding. They were friendly, funny, super hospitable, and made sure we had a safe but fun time. The service was outstanding with a constant flow of food and drinks (we upgraded to the Premium food package). A few of us also got to practice our hands at the sales and at captaining.

The booking process was also super easy!

Had a wonderful time with the engaging and educational Captain Dogan and crew. Twelve people fit very comfortably and enjoyed the drinks and food laid on. Very good pre-cruise confirmation process to talk through all the particulars. And of course a phenomenal way to spend a few hours on the bay with locals and out of town guests alike.

Don't expect a huge yacht with spacious dining area: expect a functional and fun space, complete with swinging shelves and storage spaces, and tight but working little head (toilet).
