Great place for sports troubled youth. Teaches them life lessons, and responsibly. Also has job placement for when they complete the program. Teach kids different trades to prepare them for the real world. They stay and live an campus.

I went there a long time ago when ms dublack was there coach Paul s GL Rios and GL Brown were my life line at that time thanks for your help when I was not in a good place butler cottage was my home for 7 months
Very rigid and abusive environment. I had done behavioral coaching for a youth there and on a day I was not there the staff beat him till he was bloody. Not an okay environment for young people.
Im student athlete Allen from encanto cottage, and some of the coaches were not very nice I remember this one coach almost everyone had a problem because he would just abuse the power he had, but my GL on b shift was the best and I want to thank GL mark for everything he had done for me so thank you for that
I was a Student Athelete here from 2008-10 and it really helped me reconnect with my family and helped me become a better person. My time here was eventful and never had a dull moment with all the vocations and sports we could join.
I was there for 1 year as a student. A child belongs at home. Home is where its best for that child. If you can no longer parent the child because of the child's behavior or because you are incapable bring them there. Canyon State Academy was a mixed bag of experiences for me. I was physically assaulted unnecessarily by staff there and put in a restraint that nearly broke my arm. I was showed great kindness from other staff who actually cared about me despite their personal lives. Missing ones childhood in an institution is a very sad thing to go through. Many years later and I still regret missing my childhood. The consequences of missing that time was profound. However despite that I was better of there than at home. I was always in detention because my favorite staff teacher was there and it was the only connection of a parent figure I had. He never let me down and always gave me advice that shaped my world back than. In their detention 'Concerns' we do double the exercise and plenty of dictionary work. It actually helped me in college so very grateful for these punishments. One thing to note is that if your child gets sick there.Your child can die there. The staff there do take health complaints lightly because its just not a priority for them, its just a job not their purpose. I had a lung infection but my cries for help was neglected. I still had to do my daily exercises until the nurse could 'discover' the problem because my fever was visibly disturbing. Trying to be a good boy and doing what I'm told could of killed me before I ever lived. I share some of my experience with you to give you a glimpse of what your child could go through. If I had to do it again, I would send myself there. Despite all the experiences I had there it got me ready for an easy transition to adulthood. I was mentally tough, disconnected and able to focus on my goals at that time. Most of my crucial development came from Canyon State but I had to gamble with death unknowingly twice. If you bring your child there let it be for a short time. I do not know if I would of honestly survived another year. I'm not the same person I was when I came in, more broken but wiser.
