Our organization had a top-notch experience with Cantor Colburn. We found them professional, responsive and easy to work with.
Our experience with Cantor Colburn was HORRIBLE and I strongly caution any small business to stay away. We hired CC in 2015 to help us with a utility patent for a waterproof case. During every phone call and every meeting we said that we were a small startup company with a limited budget. The Lawyer we worked with convinced us to pay $7,668 for a provisional patent but said it was worth the high upfront cost because when were were ready to file the non provisional it would only be a small filing fee. We received quotes far lower for a provisional from other attorneys. After our lawyer made some minor changes to the provisional patent we received another bill for $6,826. We thought it was a mistake but after fighting with Cantor Colburn for months they refused to reduce the bill. Now, over two years later we paid a total of $14,494 for the utility patent and $5,044 in filing fees and the patent failed for prior art on all of the claims. It should not have cost and extra $6,826 to move from our provisional to the final version and our lawyer was very aware that we were a startup with limited capital. Needless to say, we are very unhappy customers and are still paying off this bill today.
