Very well organised and convenient spot. They serve generous meals and for affordable rates. I enjoyed the menu a lot and the waiters were very personal and explanatory. I recommend this place.

Went yesterday to try to book a table they told me it was a walk in restaurant so no need.
We then look at opening time and decided to come back at 3 this Sunday so we could have a late lunch. There they told us that because of the fireworks they decided to close the kitchen 1 hour early.
I was really looking forward to it and I am really disappointed as they could have told me this yesterday when I went in. Really not the best service and we have not tried the food yet

A really nice Mexican. I had a burrito and chips (didn't need the chips). The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Only 4 stars and not 5 as there was a DJ today in the garden and the music was really loud and definitely not my sort of music. This appeared to be a one off so don't let it put you off as the food and staff were excellent. The drinks looked impressive too. I'll definitely return.

Really good food from Cantina Carnitas. The staff were very welcoming, the decor is very chill and cosy.
The food was delicious, good portion size and great flavours. Would like to see some more options such as churros for dessert and horchata on the drinks menu in the future

Love the food but some of it fell through the basket thing. Otherwise brilliant and I will return.

Wow! Just had burritos, enchiladas and nachos delivered. They were amazing! The best I have had in a long time. Not too hot so the kids enjoyed them. Booked to perfection. Good sized portions and a good selection on the menu. Thanks! You made our night!

The food was delicious. The service was not the best I guess because it was busy. Would be nice if they offer some spicy sauces for the food.

Make sure to make a reservation before going as it can get quite busy. Only tried the burrito so far and it was good and quite big, enough for a whole meal without the need of an appetizer. I will never get Mexican restaurants in the UK serving Lagunitas or Sierra Nevada but at least they ve got the usual Mexican options in terms beers. Good service overall.

Excellent burrito! The mix of everything fully loaded works super well. Covid measures are easy, order and show up. There was a little table out back and they just had my bag on the table ready.

10/10 will definitely look forward to them reopening fully whenever that may be.

Yum! Had a pork and chorizo mini-rito and it didn't disappoint. It was very busy and service could have been a bit quicker but the friendly staff and tasty food made up for the wait. Hoping to go back soon to try some more of the menu.

** and again! Menu seems to have changed a bit, but still _serious_ quality.. That Chicken Tinga... (only downside, it is still particularly slow)

*** third, forth, fifth visit - think we've reached peak carnitas, charged full whack for plain nachos for child seems a little excessive? Work on a little bites menu (not for us, we are too skint to return) - but being light and shade as all my reviews are, I had a sweet potato and mushroom burrito... Dayum... Might have to sneak backs sans familia

It was flavoursome, healthy and the kids loved it. Together with its reasonable price and friendly service we will definately be going back.

The hidden gem of Hitchin. Wow wow wow. Beautiful food, really flavoursome and authentic. The cantina fried chicken is out of this world!

The garden is spacious with some funky jazz playing, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and natter with friends.

Tested nachos and burritos, a real treat. Many choices of meat, sauces, there is something for everyone !!!

Delicious food for surprisingly low prices. I love the venue, it's cosy and has a lot of character. Perfect for a casual meal, relaxing fun meal.

Great Mexican food-I have eaten here many times and it s always excellent! I love the burritos, highly recommended.

The Tres Leche Cake is the best thing EVER! So so good! The veggie Burrito also tasty, light and fresh. My friend and I halved one as they are hearty!! The mini street tacos were also good. But best to just go for the Burrito! Also, the flavour of drinks of Jarritos .. I want all of them!
And the staff are SUPER friendly and know exactly what they are doing!

Brilliant! Great chance to enjoy CC's excellent food in a sit-down environment with side dishes, good beer and magnificent margaritas! Really busy when we turned up at 7pm, but the ever positive team were runningrings around tyemselves to keep up. Great atmosphere. Take away too, so you dont have to wait for street food monthly in Hitchin or go to Union Street ( in Southwark - where they support the start-up lunching community).

Real good food, tasty and great value. Left stuffed and happy. Nice to see somewhere doing their own thing, rather than the boring chains. Highly recommend.

Everything we've had at Cantinas is addictive, from the Cantina fried chicken (best fried chicken ever!), quesadillas (especially the tinga), but it's all about the tacos - I could eat the pork canitas all day every day.

Breath of fresh air into Hitchin! Never again do I have to go to London for a decent Mexican food. Better than Chipotle.

I had the best quesadillas I ever had there! Informal atmosphere and very good service. I will definitely go back.

Good food, drinks expensive, eating in uncomfortable

The best Mexican food I've ever had. No exaggeration. Burritos and quesdillas are sublime. The dirty fries are unreal. Amazing sauces from mild to 'oh dear, what have I done?'. The staff are amazing. Decent selection of nice beer. Margaritas too. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. You'll often find them at festivals, street food occasions, etc. Eat this food.

Absolutely wonderful food but the take away experience is painful, it's literally impossible to order from you.

Been frustrated a number of times when ordering, either things are late, don't get made or it's impossible to order in the first place. I understand that you are busy and that's great but your just-eat the order delivery radius is set to zero so you can't order from Hitchin, the phone number has been removed from the website and the new ordering system for collection from Stevenage just doesn't work. It's been about an hour of messing around trying to order only to find it's just not possible. Would be better just to turn the website off and have dining in restaurant only.

Disappointed we couldn't collect from Hitchin via just-eat we called the restaurant, but couldn't pick up from there either. Shame because it's so close. No problem, went to make the order with Stevenage via the Cantina Carnitas website. It would be a 30 mins drive there and back, but not so bad as it's good food. We go through the process and the order hung in the 'waiting for restaurant to accept' phase, only to be completely denied because two items were not in stock.

Tearing my hair out by this point, it's certainly in the first world problem category and I might be sounding like a monumental Karen here but it's a nightmare to order take out from you guys. I've eaten in with you and ordered take out lots since you opened in Hitchin, but that's the last straw, I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels the same.

Ordered a chicken burrito. It was totally delicious, though it did not have the extra chorizo I ordered. :(

We got takeaway and the order was slightly wrong,The vegan option is ok but not the best I've had. Strange as when we last tried cantina, the food was much better and more flavoursome.

The Halloumi and Sweet potato Burrito with the Grapefruit and Scotch Bonnet sauce is amazing. Also the margs are as boozy as you want.

I placed an order with this restaurant via just eat at circa. 8:30am yesterday for 8pm the same evening. I ordered early to make sure my order was successful as I thought they may be busy and wanted to make sure we got the order as it was for a special occasion. I moved to Hitchin just before lockdown and have been looking to trying the food here since the beginning of this year! Then at 18:30 I got a text from just eat saying my order had been declined by the restaurant, when I tried calling it took me about 20 attempts to get through after which I was told it was a problem with the app and that they couldn t honour my order as were too busy. However, just eat say there was no problem on their side and that the restaurant declined my order. I see on the app lots of feedback was provided to the restaurant yesterday so it seems many orders were successful which seems strange. So, if you are planning on ordering from here I would suggest not using just eat. I m not sure I will ever order from here again as I feel I have been treated badly and let down. You should honour orders that were made and cancelled in error if that is actually the case especially if ordered early!

I love this place, the dirty fries are quite possibly the best dirty fries I ve had. They re great from start to finish. The subs, lovely. The quesadillas, cheesy. I m also unfortunate that I live just too far away to get home delivery.

The burritos are good, some of the side nibbles like fish goujons are better than good. BUT .... it s ridiculously slow. The whole point of burritos is the ingredients are pre-prepared and they can be quickly assembled. This place has been inexplicably slow on three visits, and there aren t even that many people to cater for.

By far the best restaurant in Hitchin! Great service, great atmosphere and even better food!

Long standing purveyors of some of the best burritos around, they've expanded their menu and got a permanent restaurant. The food is still excellent, good value and great atmosphere.

Food is fab, staff are lovely and the outside seating areas is great.

Excellent food, great service. Best Mexican food in Hertfordshire. Fresh tasting like Mexican should be as plain or hot as you like to satisfy all palate's.

Simple concept, delivered with efficiency by polite staff. Something in the flavour screams fresh and handmade. Great vibe too and everything felt clean.

Fun place with good simple food, served in almost takeaway form. We eat outside in the back garden where there were many more tables than the smaller interior. Hope the interior isn t too small in the colder seasons.

Small, quirky Mexican style Street food cantina. Amazing tasting food and tequila-based cocktails. If you have only experienced Chiquitos I pity your perception of how good burritos can taste.
