CANON clearly adheres to the principle of planned obsolescence. Our architectural firm ordered a large format printer four and a half years ago, which we have used reasonably efficiently. Three weeks ago the motherboard gave up the ghost, forcing us, given the very high cost of repairs, to buy a new printer. The loss of this essential tool for our work forced us to replace it, hoping that it does not slam again. The price of the 5-year warranty is that of the purchase cost of the device, this obsolescence therefore seems to be confirmed by the company's commercial policy.
