Our embassy is a f'n joke compared to all others. I've been living in Taipei for almost 2 years and the one time i ever called to get some help they just told me "google it and see if you can find anything".... what a dam joke. And my questions was a pretty simple one, is their a check list for Canadians that have been living/working in Taiwan that are returning back?

Visiting second time for my passport application in Taiwan. The office seems a lot quieter comparing to my last visit. The lady who assisted my application was very precise and helpful. She also offered me a free envelope to mail back my passport. Not a fan of the government website, it contains only the minimum information on there. Still have to Google up additional pointers, like self prepared mailing stamp amount costs NT$60, to get it right the first time. And I still don't get why the application acceptance is only limited to two and half morning business hours, which is really inconvenient for citizens outside Taipei.

wow, what can I say. Wrote and email regarding a legal name change and for their advice on the situation. The lady working there who returned my call was extremely rude. Very lacking in professionalism and did not even possess the basics of English conversation. What if I didn't speak Mandarin? Don't you think that helping Canadian citizens with inquires should be able to converse in English and in French? Not only was the officer rude, she berated me in my personal decisions and asked me to listen to her before I could speak. The epitome of unprofessional. I will call back to inquire her name. Very disappointed.

Very kind officers. If you're not living in the Taipei district and wish to have your applied documents mailed to your residence in Taiwan (so that you won't have to make another trip here), prepare a set of 45 NTD worth of stamps, and the officers will provide you with an envelope. Attach the stamps onto it, and they will mail the documents to you free of additonal charge. Also, prepare an exact amount of fees when paying for applications, otherwise you'll have to find exact change somewhere else and return to the office for payment.

Had a little dispute as the info provided on the Canadian passport application website had been completely ignored by the local staff here in Taiwan. Long story short, supervising staff were quite courteous and helpful in resolving the problem; so much so that I willingly made an extra, totally unnecessary trip back to bring in my 3-year-old-expired passport just to satisfy the local bureaucracy.

The office documents are only accepted at 11:30 in the morning, so remember not to come too late to deliver! !
If you are not familiar with the application method, the information counter staff can be very kind.
If it is a newborn (if you are not in a hurry to go abroad), it is recommended that the office workers first open a Canadian passport! !
Because the citizenship application process takes 9-13 months, and the baby passport is only valid for two years.

If you want to get your passport renewed. Sorry, they literally only open for 2.5 hours a day. The security guards are very useless and I can't even imagine why they'd need two. This is what Canadian tax payers' money are going towards.

If anyone is wondering how to get their Canadian driver license certified, their office only open from 9 am to 11:30 in the morning Monday to Friday(not holidays). No need a appointment but bring your passport and your license. Also you can get the certified copy right away.

Google map office operation hours is incorrect.

I've been there three or four times. The security guards (hired locals with a vague grasp of English, but no French) are generally useless. The case officers who deal with renewals are generally very friendly, efficient, and helpful. I arranged an envelope for new passport delivery in advance (more expensive, but faster). The website mentions 60 NTD worth of stamps, but that information can vary. Change was also readily provided since I did not have exact change.

Positives: excellent service by actual consular staff, comfortable waiting area, speed of service (edit: renewed passport arrived about two weeks earlier than expected)

Negatives: useless security guards, hassle of traveling to Taipei, ONLY morning hours, obtuse website with vague and inconsistent directions (edit: the guards are still clueless and useless, where do they find these fools?)

Too much nonsense
We just need someone to answer the phone
May I?
Really mad
Troublesome pay to efficient ways
Too wasteful of human resources

Because I didn't want to go to Taipei during the epidemic, in order to help the baby get a passport, I asked many questions back and forth by email. After receiving the email, the office staff also called back to answer very quickly.

Today, I finally went to Taipei to do the documents. The staff in the office are very good, and they will try their best to help us with the documents! I didn't meet anyone with a bad attitude.

It is recommended that those who want to apply for documents can write the email regulations first if they have any problems, so that they will not encounter the problem of no one answering the phone, after all, the office staff is limited.

Professional and efficient service, but you have to do more homework yourself, and you will have to go there if you have less documents. You can crawl the text or ask each other friends who have recently applied.

If you are calling, the service staff is elegant and patient. There is only one problem. You can't get in. They don't answer the phone at all (I played for three days during their working hours)

You have to choose the emergency call option. They have to pick up.

But pick up the service staff is very kind
I love Canada!

Staff was very friendly. I wanted my new passport mailed to me, but didn't have a stamp. The lady I dealt with offered to go buy the stamp for me.

BE WARNED: Make sure you take a stamp with you if you want your new passport mailed to you.
