Camp Mi-A-Kon-Da has been a wonderful experience for my daughter. She enjoys her summers there very much. She has made many friends and has had many positive experiences through the diverse activities of camp life. Camp Mi-A-Kon-Da is her second family away from home. This is a wonderful camp for young girls.

After testing a couple other girls camps with our first daughter we found Mi-A-Konda to be everything we wanted in a camp. There is something special about an island camp, where eveyone learns to live together and your leaders/counselors are around and can t just go into town easily on their time off. We ve had all three of our daughter attend the camp, with two so far moving on to the staff. I would strongly recommend Mi-a-kinda to anyone interested in developing your daughter into a strong, independent leader for the future.
Best girls camp ever! I spent over 15 years at Miakonda as a camper, CIT, counsellor and senior staff member. There are so many opportunities for young girls - canoe tripping, sailing, kayaking, swimming, dance, art, music, environmental education, etc. Miakonda instills independence and confidence in their campers. It s a life changing opportunity. I can t wait to send my daughter
Attended Mi-A-Kon-Da for 4 summers as a child (until I was too old to go back!). Absolutely loved it! A great place for girls to learn an appreciation for nature and make lifelong friendships.
Miakonda is a very special place. My daughter literally cannot wait to get back each summer. The best investment we have made in our daughter's growth and development by far!
My memories of Miakonda are amongst the best from my childhood. I spent 12 summers there as a camper and then counsellor. As a camper, I loved the freedom to choose activities I was interested in each day, the endless enthusiasm and support from counsellors and the ease of forming friendships with fellow campers.
My daughter loves this camp! The moment she gets home, she wishes she was back. It is such a special place - girls learn to mentor younger campers, develop leadership skills, and learn to be independent in a supportive environment. One of the best perks is that they are unplugged from social media and can just enjoy making friends and being in nature. I can't recommend this camp enough!!
This camp changed my life. If you have a daughter who you could send to Mi-a-kon-da, do not hesitate to do so! I learned so much, and gained a lifelong love of the outdoors and friends who have become sisters.
This was an amazing camp. I made a few amazing friends, and overall I had a great time! There were lots of activities, but my favourite part was going on "trip", a canoe trip into the wilderness, sleeping in tents in the forest! I made so many memories there. (I even saw a moose!)
The reason I gave it 3 stars was because of the food. Everyone there was saying how good the food was. I can imagine it was good, but I'm gluten free, so I had different options. The gluten free foods were not that great- often they were completely different meals from the standard, so I felt left out from the rest of the people. Once, instead of a cake, I got a bowl of whipped cream with berries and chocolate chips thrown inside! (lol i don't like whipped cream XD) And sometimes, like for example at breakfast, the gluten free cereal was chocolate flavoured, while the standard cereals were not. So, all the normal food people went to the chocolate, and I didn't get there in time, and I didn't get much of a breakfast. :(
Also, along the pathways, there are roots sticking out EVERYWHERE, and I hurt my ankles quite a few times because of them.
But most of the staff care about your well-being, and are pretty nice.
20 years after leaving Mi-A-Kon-Da, my camp friends are still my closest. Mi-A-Kon-Da is an incredible place for young girls to grow into themselves: learn and be challenged in a 100% supportive environment. The island is magical and the memories last a lifetime. No better place for a girl to spend her summers.
Camp Mi-a-kon-da is a beautiful place for girls and young women to learn, grow and have fun. The memories and friendships I made at camp have built me up over the years and helped me become the woman I am today. This place is magical.
Phenomenal camp for girls. I was a camper, wow, almost 15 years ago, and as an alumni have loved seeing how they have continued to grow and evolve ever better camp experiences. As I have told many people since I was a camper, I attribute most of my self-confidence and ability to step out and try something new, to my days at camp.
My two daughters have been campers at Mi-A-Kon-Da for years. They endlessly talk about it together through the school year, counting down the days until they can return. They love the freedom of choosing which activities to go to each day, the camp evening activities and of course, the amazing close friendships they have made. The food is fantastic too!
