My daughters just returned from Session 1 and had an amazing time. They had never been to this camp before and didn t know any friends in advance. Both loved their counselors and activities and made many new friends they plan to keep in touch with. My younger daughter tried kayaking and learned about drones and rocketry. My oldest worked on the farm and went mountain biking, and also enjoyed zip-lining and tubing excursions. The grounds are beautiful, the girls liked the food and it is super conveniently located - less than 2 hours from Fairfax County (although you really feel like you are in the mountains when you are there). Plus there is an option to have them coming home to Tysons on a bus, which worked great for us. I went to overnight camp as a girl and spent a lot of time this past winter researching Mid-Atlantic area options so my children could have the same great opportunities to try new things and be a little bit independent. Camp Horizons exceeded my expectations on all fronts and we are all excited for the girls to return next summer and for my son to attend once he is old enough.

Our daughter recently went to this camp, and it was extremely disappointing. First off, the food was horrible, (as described in others posts) and the staff abrupt and surly most of the time. She even said staff was overheard speaking negatively about the kids. The "tents" were filthy, and filled with wasps, moths and other bugs. She did say that the campfires were very nice.

The staff is so friendly and Liz and Trey the camp directors are great! Below is a picture of me and my friends from camp and I still keep in touch with all of them and one of them is my my best friend from preschool!

This is my second time at Camp Horizons and overall I ve had good experiences. The camp itself is beautiful with incredible views of the mountains and tucked away from civilization which makes a nice getaway. The camp is also pretty large which means that you, and your group, can really enjoy all the activities it has to offer without running into too many other groups.

The staff was very nice, accommodating and hands off. I was however, pretty disappointed in the food. I don t typically expect much from camp food , but this was bad even by those standards. It s sustinance and will keep you alive, but there will be no enjoyment in it. Additionally, the bathrooms and showers were kind of gross. Again, I don t expect a lot from camps....but I don t like leaving a shower feeling more dirty than when I went in.

Overall, I enjoyed the camp, but it could use some work on cleanliness and food options.

This will be my daughter's first time attending camp and I can express how much I'm so happy with Camp Horizon so far. So I had to travel to Germany to pick up my daughter and during my week of travel to Germany (this past weekend there were 2 attacks in sperate location of Germany. As a result of those attacks were not able to travel back to the US in time for her to start the initial week of camp we signed up for. U called Camp Horizon and notified them of the situation and they were very understanding and accomdating with our situation. I can say thank you enough to them for being so understanding and their willingness to help to make my child's first experience at an overnight stay camp a great one. Thank you Camp Horizon!

Wish I had gone to a camp like this when I was a kid!!! Also, wish it was a little cheaper, because the kids love it so much that I would send them for even longer...... but can't afford all that!

A fantastic camp! Been coming here for many years for an annual spring camping trip with my kids' YMCA Adventure Guides. The activities are fun: high ropes, wall climbing, archery, farm animals, swimming, horse riding, and so much more! What really makes this camp special is the absolutely amazing staff. Everyone who works here clearly loves being there, and they love kids. All kids know when young adults are helping them out of a passionate commitment or if the person is phoning it in merely as another paycheck in a summer job. This camp hires only staff who care about kids and it shows in the entire awesome experience. The camp also constantly improves each year with new activities, and everything is maintained in top condition, including even the trails. I just can't say enough about how great this place is!

My two boys had such an amazing week! This camp is awesome. Tons of activities and very well organized! The staff is super friendly and helpful. My son has allergies and they worked with me on a menu for the week suitable to his needs. For everything the kids get out of the camp I think the price is fair. My two boys are already asking to back next year. And we will, but for an extra week this time! Thanks Camp Horizons!
