We were here for lenses and Mic's and Gear and there was a boy (20s /30s) employee who is ok making things up about everything. I guess we will buy online from the competition, when we want new Gear.

They were so nice and helpful. I bought my "new to me" camera from a different seller but was having problems with it. They offered to have me come in so the technician could quickly look it over and see if it was worth keeping/fixing/or returning. They gave me great service even though I wasn't looking to buy from them at this time. I will definitely be going back to them when I'm ready to buy more or upgrade. I highly recommend!

Not only did they spend the time to teach me about my camera that I didn't even buy from them...they gave me a very fair price for MY lens and camera that was under par for shooting my daughter's high speed soccer game. They took the time to explain why the 70-300mm VR with Active was the best lens for me. I just got back from my daughter's game...they were right! I will be coming to this store for ALL my camera needs...

No wrestling necessary. The staff at Camera Solutions are expedient, proficient, and kind. They recently assisted me with repairing a lens, and exceeded my expectations in honoring the warranty. I will never visit the other camera shops again.

I've used a entry level DSLR since high school and I was finally ready up upgrade to something more substantial--a Canon 5D mk IV. Dan took a couple hours of his time, let me feel different cameras, answered my phone calls and all my questions to learn about the camera that was right for me. The customer service here is impeccable, and their prices match the internet prices for any TRUSTABLE site. I don't think I'd buy any used equipment from them (though I did get a bag that kicks butt) because it's a little pricey. Nonetheless, these guys are awesome and I highly recommend them for your camera needs.

I really appreciate the customer service at camera solutions. I've been to another camera store in Portland and they did not treat me very well. But camera solutions staff is always nice. Thanks a lot!

I had an infrared converted Canon 5D drop its mirror. Additionally, I had the sensor cleaned and an overall body cleaning with an expected three day servicing at what I felt to be a very reasonable charge. The camera was ready the next day. I m very pleased.

I went in for a simple focusing screen replacement because I was too much of a wuss to try it myself. Irah (sp?) helped me in a matter of minutes as well as showed me the custom functions that needed to be changed. He was genuinely kind and helpful alongside being so efficient. Thank you!

First of all they want 50 $ just to check out a camera, second they don't hesitate to quote a price as high as a camera replacement cost; so these people wear suspenders and belts at the same time. I would not even go there!

Every time I need anything, they have the best prices along with knowledge to back it up. Very comparable to internet prices, but with great service and help. I'm more than satisfied - I wouldn't go anywhere else unless I had to! Kathy

This is the only place that rents equipment on Saturday so I was super thankful for that. The guys were really friendly and helpful. The rental and return process was easy. I also feel that their prices are super reasonable and when you rent on Saturday you return by Monday which is awesome.

I had a fairly beat up (I carry it hiking and backpacking) video camera repaired there. The price was fair and the camera was finished on time and it works perfectly.
So I took my Canon G12 digital there when I managed to get some grit in the lens mechanism. They had to replace the lens (no surprise to me) and again it was done on time and at the price quoted.
Editorial comment here: It SHOULD cost $50 or more to dismantle a camera to give a repair estimate. They aren't simple devices. Parts are tiny and delicate and it requires expertise to take a camera apart and put it back together so that it works. And no, I don't know anyone at the shop. I just think that they run a decent business and do their best.

I called to ask about how much it would cost to repair my camera, and he said the assessment starts at $24. I asked if there is a range, like $24-200, some sort of cap, he said it starts at $24, and goes up form there. I asked if it is based on hours spent to assess, he said he's not a technician and doesn't know. I told him I don't feel comfortable leaving my camera there to be assessed when there is no cap to how much that would cost, as saying it starts 24 isn't saying anything except that it won't be less then 24. He said it won't cost 500. Ok, well.. great. Then told me I can take my camera to another shop. Wow. Worst customer service ever.

I dropped my camera in the sand, and was so intimidated to have it looked at (very new photographer here!). Dan was helpful and patient while answering my MANY questions. I got the help I needed, and am happy to have found my new go-to camera shop.

I called around to various camera stores. Nobody carried what I was looking for.

Camera Solutions didn t have it. But! Unlike the other stores, their customer service representative, Nate, made an effort to find a solution for me.

I appreciated the effort.

Been going there for 5 years to buy new gear, buy and sell used gear and get my camera gear repaired. I've had 1 camera, 2 lenses and 2 flashes repaired and the repairs have all lasted years

Got my sensor cleaned on my Nikon D7000 for $65 which is a very fair price. Not only did they do a fantastic job cleaning my sensor, which was riddled with dust and dirt, but he cleaned the body and the attached lens as well. Less than a 24-hour turnaround time. Will definitely be back for other camera related products and repairs.

I've been to Camera Solutions a number of times, and they've always had great service. The staff is helpful and knowledgable, and I'll keep coming back, for sure. I had a situation the other day where I was in a bit a pinch and had a tripod / head issue come up during a shoot, and they were very nice and helped me remedy the problem right away. When dropping off any type of equipment for repairs, they've always done a good job in a reasonable amount of time. I highly recommend them for any camera/lens/tripod or any other issues you may run across!

Sigh...if you are mourning for the photographic past you've found your cameraland. These guys know what they are talking about full shutter open. And they have been around for years and years and years. Hiro is amazing! There isn't any BS here just quality camera repair and supply, the old school way.

I should have done my research first but I purchased a used flash from them only to find out I could have bought it new for almost half the price.. also the price tag listed on it was $25 less than what he checked me out for. The new flash also comes with a stand where the used one I paid too much for doesn't have it.. yeah I got ripped off and I'm not happy.. this damn thing is going back and I'll go to BEST BUY of all places and buy a NEW one and save myself $50!..

I was quite impressed with my experience here. I've had some issues with my camera for around a year now, and have taken it to 3 other camera repair places. This was the first place to open up my camera and watch it go and look at the issue themselves.
They were highly knowledgeable, laid out all the facts, prices, and options. And they even spent time with me researching an issue on a different camera of mine free of charge. Friendly, personable staff, as well.

I will definitely be going back to them for any future camera repairs or purchases.

FANTASTIC! I was on Vacation with my girlfriend in Portland and my Nikon D200 camera failed me. I got on Google through my smart phone looking for a local camera repair shop. I found Camera Solutions and promptly went there. I explained my situation (On Vacation) and their technicians were kind enough to start working on my camera. They got it working in 35 minutes and their prices were more than fair. They made our vacation and memories that much more enjoyable. :)

Locally owned with good friendly staff. They did a quick turnaround on my 17-40mm when it broke while I was traveling in Portland. I have used them before and will again. UPDATE: I have used the lens quite a bit since it was fixed and it has been fine. It had loose screws and rollers. It is nice and clean now too.

Staff seems pretty knowledge. They are also pretty salty with respect to the online market - I get it though. I have a hard time justifying the expense of going to the brick and mortar establishment when Amazon is ~30-50% less.

I took my Canon PowerShot SX10IS into Camera Solutions for repair because I kept getting a lens error message. I left it there and was told that I'd get an email with an estimate within about a week. I was pleased that they were on time, and gave them the go-ahead to fix my camera. I was told it'd be about 10 days or so, and was again pleased that that's just what it took. I picked it up today, and cleaned and fix. The problem was the optical circuit board, and the repair is under warranty for 90 days. That's fair.

I've had this camera for 7 years and absolutely adore it. I appreciated the fact that the lady at the counter told me there's no sense getting a new camera if I love the one I have; she didn't try to sell me a new camera. Major points.

The technician who waited on me today was very pleasant; he had on a Hawai i t-shirt, which I loved, and we talked about our love of Japanese food while he finished up the transaction. He was the one who fixed my camera, and I really liked the personal contact.

I'm really pleased with all aspects of getting my camera fixed, and I know that this is where I'll go if I need more repairs or more camera equipment. It's a long drive for me, but definitely worth it.

Had an issue on my camera with the shutter. They took it in and replaced the shutter for a reasonable price. Just developed the film today and everything is good as new. They have a great 90 day warranty also.

Fixed a lens I thought was impossible to fix. My Micro USM Canon 1.4 seized up and made a grinding noise as you moved the focus barrel (I now know this was from impact) and at the time I was extremely upset. A friend thought he could fix it for me and took it, brought it back, not fixed and full of WD40. :( NEVER let non-photographers touch your lenses, even if you think they're broken. It would have been cheap to fix the USM, but cost about $225 because they had to clean it! Nightmare, but Camera Solutions did a great job. I have my lens back that I thought was lost for all eternity. HIGHLY recommend taking in your broken lens. Probably cheaper to repair than to replace.

They did a good job of cleaning our sensor to the Leica SL we have. I ll give them 5 stars for being able to rush the job for an extra $20 to have the camera ready in the same day. I don t really trust them, however, in terms of camera knowledge. The first man we spoke to over the phone told us $20 would enable the rush process for our camera cleaning. He asked what kind of camera we had, and we told him the Leica SL. Next day, we go to the store and a different gentleman quoted us $20 more than the quote over the phone. We asked about the difference and he replied asking who we spoke with, then honored the first quote. When explaining why the cost for Leica SL camera sensor cleaning is $20 more than other kinds of cameras, he said it s because the megapixels are different. Which makes no sense. We tried to tell him that megapixels have nothing to do with sensor cleanings, but he was pretty hard headed on the idea. He couldn t take out the battery. We cringed as he tried before offering a hand.

The cleaning was done swiftly - again, reason for 5-stars. (I only give 1s or 5s.) we picked it up from an older gentleman and asked why the Leica SL has a price difference. He replied that for some reason, the Leicas takes more time to clean. With a Canon or Nikon camera, they don t have to take that extra time to clean the sensor. The little micro particles do not show up as much as they do on a Leica. We asked if they take the extra step to make sure the sensors on Nikons and Canons are cleaned anyways. He shrugged and said sure. So, I don t know. They did a good job but I just got weird vibes from the place.

I don't typically leave reviews (I think this is my second ever) and often feel like I should, but laziness wins and I don't. However, I feel like I have to for these guys. Not only did they fix the headache that was my Canon's wifi not working, but they didn't charge me at all, for anything. I'm not from Portland, I'm actually from Philly, but I know that this type of service on the East Coast surely would have cost me something. Thanks Nate for your help man. I couldn't recommend this place more.
