They are a joke! On Merrimac Road the parking is not enforced at all. "People" walking around with open bottles of alcohol, others openly selling drugs and the Police never patrol, never ticket and take up to an hour to show up when called.
Literally had a situation where I was intoxicated and they refused to give me a breathalyzer even when I BEGGED them too. They re a joke. I know their are good cops and bad cops but they were not helpful at all. Especially the Sheriff, he s not a good one.
Came to make police report for stolen items from my brother's house. Thought it would be easier for them then coming to his house. 2 hours later, still no one to take report. Is this what they mean by service before self? This city is a mess!

Living here, I have honked auto horn, waved at walking or auto sitting officers, walked to parked vehicles to thank for servicing the neighborhoods and each time the officer placed hands near their gun belt until I gained their attention. Being robbed recently, the attitude of arriving officers was that, I was a city resident with nothing worth stealing. After being questioned 4 times, recorded once and my story seemed consistent, my burglary was termed felony and detectives were sent. Several days later a merchant contacted me saying a detective questioned him about me having 100 of K of items and no receipts and the detective was explained that the merchant records contained documentation of insurance worth when in merchant care. The attitude of members of police was never changed by apology to my favor. Weeks later to have handyman work correct my internal burglarized home, a worker stated he would come from Burlington to Camden to work with no problem because his wife worked in Camden. He came to Camden before our appointment time and noted an officer sitting in a vehicle. He asked if the neighborhood were safe. The officer replied NO...it is dangerous and people had been shot blocks from my property. I called the non 911 # several times with no answer, so I made it my mission to speak to 6 different officers to speak of my offense and the response has been "they did not say it" and " their job is not to listen" call the 757 number and lastly they refused to talk about the comment in a meeting of rank and file. When news pictorially reports police showing love in the community, it is difficult to respect when it seems as if ALL is an orchestrated set up to say "see we care".
My husband and I had a really positive experience with the Camden Police. We were in a car accident on Admiral Wilson Blvd. and the Police couldn't have been more helpful and kind. Our car had spun around facing traffic, and they drove up and shielded us from oncoming traffic with their cars and directed cars around us. They were courteous and helped us figure out what to do after our car was towed away. One officer took us (and our dog) to a nearby gas station and stayed with us until we got an Uber to take us home. And the next day, we had to go into Camden to get a vehicle release form, and the woman at the desk was really friendly and helpful. No complaints at all.
Reported a scam in progress. Detectives didn't want to do anything about. Obvious why people don't like the police. Rarely do they actually do anything.
Safety in this city is the worst! Don t waste your time calling 911 to report unusual activities in your neighborhood. If you ever call, they seem to not care. They are new neighbors were I live and there are absolutely something going on in that house. You can hear a lot of people coming and leaving that house after midnight, especially on the weekends.
They only moved-in two weeks ago, and I don t know where these people came from. Gunshots 3 times in one week. You know how many children live in this area. Why do you have to wait until someone dies? Why do you have to wait until they start giving drugs to our children? Why do you have to wait until they brainwashed our children to joined gangs? Because that is what is going to happen here if they don t put a stop. This is ridiculous you come here at this time 1:15 AM, and you see them outside doing their business.
I called the police department and they did absolutely nothing!!! I m sorry, but if choose to be a law enforcement as your career, what are you doing to honor your title? Why do you even become a police officer if you don t do your job. I am a single mother living with my children, and if something ever happened to one of my children or to someone else s children because of this people. I will blame the Police Departmen of Camden for not doing their job.
It is absolutely ridiculous that you call 911 and they do absolutely nothing. They just ignore you!

If I could give no stars I would. TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE!!! Don"t bother calling for anything. I called 4 times due to loud music playing after 10:00 pm. Two hours later nothing and no one came out. At 12:00 am still loud music playing, called the police again. While sitting at my back bedroom window I saw a a police officer comes out after a third phone call to 911. I watched as he was attempting to park all the while loud music still playing at this barbecue.The officer gives up trying to park and circles around the block.He then rides by the loud music and keeps going without saying a word to any of the people standing in the backyard. I called back and told the dispatch operator what happened in an unmoved voice he said that he would send someone out. I gave up put in earplugs and went to bed. Don't know if they ever came out. A TOTAL WASTE of taxpayers money. I am totally due a refund for sure!!!!
