My father collapsed on my front lawn with 2000 cash in his wallet. He died and lost the money on his way to Calvary. I think the paramedics had 2000 reasons not to revive him.

Girlfriend came in early in the morning and left later that day, very quick and everyone was extremely nice. Super helpful.
Have put in orders for meals and not receive any of these. What is this organisation run for
Absolutely horrible place to go if your unwell strongly recommend the extra drive to Woden hospital
OMG my daughter had her tonsils out and the staff were fantastic. The surgeon held her hand when she woke up from surgery and freaked out .The nurses were awesome. I can not fault them. Thank you for making her first experience in hospital such an easy experience .
Its a bit like a school uniform , you are representing who you work for , dealt with a very rude lady today , And you call yourself a nurse , god help me if I ever have to go to Calvary
This place needs way more Dr's working there as the wait time is horrendous! My left eye has been really sore for the last 2 days, something big feels like it's stuck under my upper eyelid and nonstop tears keep coming out of my left eye. Anyhow i waited for nearly 4 hours from 10pm-1:45 and by time i was about to pass out due to lack of sleep because of the pain my eye is causing me. It hurts a lot more when i have my eyes closed then it does if they're open. Plus I've got bad vision/sore cheek bone and constant headaches.
Best Hospital I had ever visit in my life. Professional doctors.
I went to this Emergency department 4 times and every time I was more and more disappointed ! I took my baby last time and the Dr was the most unprofessional and incompetent Dr I ever came across. I do not recommend to go there, and I will definitely never go back!!
the emergency center i waited 3 hours to get treated about my ear and the doctor told me it was nothing and rushed me out the doors not allowing me to say anything. that night blood was dripping out of my ear and i got it checked up at the medical centre the next morning and it was a ruptured eardrum.
I recently had surgery for appendicitis at Calvary Hospital and received excellent care from all the nurses and doctors who saw me.
I am very grateful to all the staff who looked after me at Calvary Hospital, you are all worth your weight in gold!
Let's give politicians a pay cut, and give doctors and nurses a pay rise!!
Dealt with absolutely fantastic staff. They took the time to explain the operation and what to do afterwards.
to all the ER staff
thank you for aiding me the service was professional and efficient
I visited the ED this evening and was quickly seen to. I saw a lovely doctor who provided a speedy, thorough and engaging assessment of my eye injury. 10/10 would recommended visiting as it was overall a positive experience with nothing but good service.
Went in for surgery via ER recently and can't praise the staff enough. They were fantastic, I felt very well looked after from all the different areas I went through.
One of a bad hospital that I ever been.emergency department nurse is very rude to overseas people.i went 11pm and wait until 1 am only 4 patients in emergency department wondering why they can't treat patients in efficient manner.i had fever and I'm shivering they didn't even give any medicine while I'm waiting outside.its a hopeless hospital ever.
Excellent Public Maternity Ward !! Excellent parenting/labour/relationship classes and all FREE! They even offer free antenatal and postnatal physio/exersice classes. Wonderful midwives, nurses, doctors and anesthetists. Everyone professional, caring and sincere.
Thank you for helping us with our daughter. The midwives at Calvary are amazing.
I was there last night at 1:30 am and waited there for 4 am the staff literally ignored and was keep telling me you number is next although it was not busy at all and when I told him that I m feeling cold ,While explaining symptoms he told me that he is feeling cold as well and there is cold outside and then ask her female team member that she ever see him wearing jacket the management should at least Train then not to discuss personel experience if any one is coming to ER then it s must be a situation or hire at least sensible staff many thanks in the end I just walk away and waited for morning so I can go to the GP
I have been admitted to Calvary 3 times in the past year. With the exception of a few Emergency Dept staff, all the staff are really lovely & professional. A certain doctor, Dr Choi, blatantly breached his duty of care in relation to my privacy. The ICU is world class & I recommend Calvary (like you have a choice in North Canberra!)
I waited to see someone for 4 hours just to be told I need to go to Woden Hospital. No one cared how I get there and if it is OK to drive on large amount of pain killers and with the broken fingers.
It is supposed to be a Catholic hospital with the Christian values, but the compassion, humane treatment and not doing things to others that they wouldn't like to be done to themselves (unless the nurses and doctors are some kind of masochists) is not there. I makes me wonder how many of these professionals there are familiar with Jesus' teachings...
Always had worst experience visiting the ED. No matter how critical the patient s situation would be, the patient has to wait at least for 2 good hours. Need a good audit of their Triaging system.
Unfortunately Canberra doesn t have much options for Emergency :(
I was recently taken to Calvary Public by ambulance with a sudden illness. The ER staff were wonderful; they attended to me immediately, put me in a quiet bed, filled me with morphine for the pain and even inserting a stomach tube through my nose was done with empathy and skill. I had several complex diagnostic tests in a very short period. The ward staff (where I was for the next 3 days) were equally skilled, friendly and kind. They might seem slow in the ER for non life-threatening injuries but that's because they're prioritising the seriously ill behind those swing doors. I made a full recovery.
Lovely staff, very polite.
Can't fault anyone.
Easy to navigate, yet somehow easy to get lost on the way out of the hospital too
Parking could be better but it's better than it was.
If you or your loved ones have a stroke they may be accidently put in the phsyc ward by mistake. Please do not go to this hospital if you do you better have family who can go to the hospital and convince staff that your relative is not a mental patient.
One flew over the cookoo's nest Nurse Ratchet. Only by the grace of God.
Dissatisfied with the help that I was given even though I went back to were I was admitted on 6th floor they were rude and unhelpful. Would not recommend to ANYONE.
Great hospital, great service - excellent staff. Particularly Catalina in the maternity area. I have never come across such thoughtful, knowledgable, caring and professional staff at a hospital - they do a really great job here and genuinely have patients best intentions at the forefront of everything going on. Highly recommend!
The care is extremely bad. Doctors are condescending, aggressive and lack care. Nurses have a similar dismissive attitude. Wait times are a lot higher than woden public hospital. Asking for your results to be explained results in aggressive responses and annoyance from doctors.
Would strongly recommend the extra driving time to woden or queenbeyan hospital.
Calvary's negligence is the reason why my mum died. Don't go here if you want to live.
I took my sick daughter yesterday to the emergency at night with a repetitive vomiting and they left us for 3 hours with no intervention.
I had left the hospital because of that unacceptable delay and so many patients did.
I didn't like the way of the nurse that met us in the triage counter.
I didn't find the hospital as clean as I expect the hospital to be.
It was a disappointing experience.
The pretty manager at MRI Department is the most accommodating medical staff you will be blessed to brush up with. Kudos and keep it up!
I can not speak highly enough of the staff in emergency and on ward 3S.
I have just spent 3 days in the public system after surgery and couldn't have been treated better. The staff, nurses and doctors were absolutely wonderful to me giving me the best of care possible. Thank you one and all.
Complete lack of caring and empathy by all staff. Disinterest in actually listening. Overall an incredibly distressing experience with a negative health outcome.
The time i was given in the letter and the time i was meant to arrive were wrong. Had to wait 3 hours for the procedure. The staff were nice though.
nice staff service were good but not happy with cleaning
Waited for 3 hours 10 pm to 1 am to get my 5.5 yr old son who threw up 6 time n had 103 f fever. They never bothered....kept me waiting n waiting.... Went back as I couldn't look keeping him in uncomfortable position in waiting area any longer
Be wary of advice given. My partner had to visit ED late last night due to a knife injury and was attended to by a doctor after a few hours in the waiting room. He was not given a tetanus injection - despite being advised he would need one by a nurse. He received a call six hours later by the doctor who admitted the oversight and said he would need a tetanus injection and to return to the ED where it would be administered immediately by the nurse at reception. We returned to ED today and were told (very rudely) that we would have to wait a few hours and go through the same process as last night. There was no apology for us having been given the wrong information, or any explanation why that was the case.
I went to the ED this week. The total wait time was 4.5 hours. One of the staff had picked my file then it got lost in the que. When I approached the helpdesk they hold me that there were 3 people still ahead of me. One particular lady behind the desk was very rude and others had made comments at her lack of understanding during the day. I was lucky that a nurse who was on shift earlier noticed me still waiting there and got the first available doctor. By the time I got in to see the doctor he only took blood work then sent me back in the waiting room for another 2hours. I was extremely disappointed at the poor treatment and would not recommend this as a first point of call if your sick!
Both of my boys were born there best experience in the world thank you to everyone there , you work so hard
One question: are they real doctors?
They don't even know common sense!
Friend has been in ED/short stay since 1:50am till present just to wait hours on urine, blood and ultrasound results. Service is slow as hell for emergency but I guess the nurses are nice for the whole your dieing in pain. ITS 12:40pm!!!! and still waiting on results in SSU4 Comsumer feedback will be left also.
Such a chaos. I visited the emergency service last month and had been requested to pay full amount myself which I already covered by the insurance. Then the hospital sent the invoice to Bupa to request the amount which I already paid. In the end, the hospital gets overpaid, and I can't even get my reimbursement or even a proper explanation.
I completely understand that writing a review for a PUBLIC hospital is pointless and a bit silly, however my goodness... 5 hour wait in emergency was ridiculous! We were directed by an after hours GP to attend ED immediately for a serious illness. at 7pm on a weeknight the waiting room was packed. We were seen by triage then the wait began.
I was feeling really frustrated until we finally made it out to be seen by a doctor and the frustration turned to sympathy for the staff. I couldn't believe it but there was only 3 doctors and 2 nurses on to handle the entire ED. How can this place be so understaffed?!
The care by the staff was adequate
The bureaucrats running the hospital need to pull their socks up. Staff it right.
horrible experience . waited 3 hours to stitch the forehead
I turned up to emergency on a Sunday morning and ended up requiring minor surgery & an overnight stay. The numerous staff I encountered were phenomenal, from triage, surgery, post-op care etc I was treated with so much care & dignity I was slightly taken aback. The treatment I received was fit for a King. Truly wonderful.
Had a shoulder injury and went to ED, saw doctor in 3 hrs which was great. On consultation he mentioned it might be a sprain which will heal by itself. But if there is a muscle tear then its bad news. I was hoping he will refer me for an X ray/ultra sound after he mentioned the tear possibility, but instead i was asked to go home. Really confused, why the hospital is not providing any x ray/ultra sound facilities if patient needs quick treatment and peace of mind. The pain was very sharp in the nite and i went there again after 2 days and still no check and was asked to go home. Saw my GP today and he has referred me for ultrasound, which unfortunately is another one week wait.
May be go to Canberra hospital in woden or go to a private hospital if you want better treatment and peace of mind.
I felt I received great professional treatment and appreciated thew diversity of nursing staff. The only area I would suggest needs attention is the cleaning detailing- bathrooms in treatment and ward areas, the front entry, windows etc.
Had to go here a while ago when I had gastro bug and vomiting everywhere. Staff were diabolical, ignored requests for water and treated drunks before me. When i complained a male nurse said I should be grateful I wasn't outside.
Just a good hospital for emergency hope heeling fast for every one
