Cafe brio is one of our favorite restaurants in Victoria. It is by far the most romantic. The owner is very charming and our table on the patio was divine, covered in ivy and other plants. It was like eating in an arboretum. I had the tomato with mozzarella and the flatbread. My husband had venison. All were superb. Would recommend with highest enthusiasm.

Pretty sure I tried everything on the menu tonight!!
Had the best takeout tonight. Truly felt like a dine in restaurant experience! I'm not sure what took me so long to find this place but I'm so happy we did.
Every dish was fantastic, even down to the veg. Can't fault a thing. The staff was fantastic to deal with and I intend to keep ordering from them during Covid, and look forward to the day I can dine in as well.
If Cafe Brio isn't the best restaurant in Victoria then just wait a year until whatever fad spot passes and the true classic rises to the top again. This place has been top quality *forever* and is a fixture on the Victoria dining scene for good reason. Absolutely excellent place to eat.
Overall we enjoyed the meal and the mixed drinks were excellent. However, we have the following three exceptions:
The chef should understand that a steak is very dependant on the quality of the meat. They need a new source for beef as the steak was inedible. To their credit they comped the steak, but this should be fixed.
The fig sticky toffee pudding did not need to be drowning in an overly sweet sauce. The chef should understand the value of restraint when creating deserts.
Lastly, the art work was possibly pretentious and if you actually think about what some of the images were dipicting you might expect to be asked for your safe word when being served with your cheese and crackers.
Absolutely wonderful. We arrived without a reservation and were treated like family. It's obvious that ths staff are proud of their establishment. Tagliatelle with greenbeans! Yum.
My wife and I just returned from Cafe Brio and had a fantastic meal. We had the chef's choice six course menu, and it was wonderful to look forward to whatever might come out of the kitchen. We tried pressing the server to get a clue to what was to come next and she claimed even she didn't know. We especially enjoyed the duck breast which was perfectly rare with a crispy skin. The Halibut on cauliflower puree will not soon be forgotten, either. For a pair of locals who love fine dining Cafe Brio may well be our new favourite place in town. Thanks so much!
I went to Cafe Brio for my anniversary. We ended up needing to bring our 4 year old son and they were extremely accommodating of that. The restaurant isnt really intended for young children but the staff treated him amazingly well and made a more kid friendly dish for him. We had the 6 course Chef Special and every dish was fantastic. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to others and intend to go back again sometime soon.
We ate here with some friends from out of town, we had the chef's choice meal, which was amazing. We had great cocktails, excellent old fashioned! We were chatting, laughing and having an amazing time! The owner came over helped us with wine selection and was a really nice guy, would highly recommend! But bring your wallet, it's not cheap haha
Shhh ... honest service, quality foods and wines and a cozy atmosphere whether seated at the bar, in general seating or in the front more private space. The family meal is exceptional, whatever is being served, and you certainly will not leave hungry if that is your selection. And always find room for the house truffles!
So the owner just drove us to Langham Court Theatre because a taxi would ve been 30min. The food was absolutely delicious! Our seared scallops were so good...my main of venison sirloin with chanterelles and summer squash was incredible.... Service...he drove us to the theatre!!exceptional!
Just one of the most exceptional places. The service was phenomenal, the food was next level and I've never felt so safe as a celiac ordering "chef's choice" in a restaurant. 5 stars.
Amazing experience from start to finish. We didn t make a reservation but the host was welcoming and able to fit us in. Definitely reserve. Notable selection of wine, every dish was delicious and memorable.
We totally lucked into this place just walking around. Cool classy little restaurant with a nice atmosphere and some delicious meals. Had a great family dinner with apps, drinks and dessert. All really tasty. The owner and wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Very recommended.
Great atmosphere. Staff is very kind and very knowledgeable. The pork belly is delicious, the skin was perfectly crispy. Would highly recommend this restaurant
Not enough words to praise this place. The service is superb, from the reservation, through the welcome we received upon arrival, and throughout the meal. The food was excellent and consistent: starters, pasta, mains (duck breast was amazing) and dessert (toffee pudding won the day). Wholeheartedly recommended.
Cafe Brio is in a quiet area, slight away from downtown Victoria. We found this place in a previous trip to Victoria.
This was our second time at the restaurant. The menu is interesting. They offer 1/2 plate and full plate sizes for most items. We found the half plate size was plenty for us.
Their wine list is so long that you will not finish reading it. We just asked our server for her suggestion. It was good and we enjoyed the wine with our food.
Visit Italy from Victoria. I challenge Victoria restaurants to outdo Cafe Brio s wine list. The best lighting and ambience, allowing you to focus on your dish, drink and company. Best Italian coffee and solid cocktails. If you are worried they won t have options to suit you, challenge the chef to make you something -no need to call ahead. No snob s here -the front of the house will educate you and serve you while keeping your dignity intact. Very intimate, family run restaurant. Wear your best shirt.
This restaurant is spectacular, a true gem in Victoria. The food preparation, bar service, serving staff and hosts are deeply dedicated to the art of food. Every visit to this boutique restaurant has been nothing short of perfect. As a vegetarian, it is so nice to have options provided and just much interest in providing something remarkable. Thank-you Cafe Brio!
Cafe Brio has such a lovely atmosphere, and the food was fantastic! They offer a half portion which I found to be the perfect amount of food... it left room to try some delicious deserts!
Had a fantastic dinner at Cafe Brio tonight for my Sister's Birthday. Nat was our server and she was great! Very attentive and personable. We shared a bunch if dishes, family style. Would definitely reccomend the pork belly & Spaghettini and sticky pudding. Can't wait to return on another visit to Victoria in the near future.
The restaurant has a nice cosy atmosphere and the service was friendly. We got the tasting menu so we could try a bit of everything. Overall, the dishes tasted good but nothing was really outstanding, which was a bit disappointing given the price point.
Wish I took some pictures, but I will next time. I think this is the best fine dining experience in Victoria. This is fine dining at it's absolute best in that you can dress to the nines, or show up in tasteful casual and will never feel out of place. The service is very genuine and skilled. They know all the right things to do and say to make it a wonderful fine dining experience but lack the Pretentious air that most of their contemporaries possess. The food is varied, thoughtful and delicious. The portions are perfect, enough to satisfy but you won't leave feeling bloated. The price is reasonable for fine dining. An average plate is around $33 which is more than fair given the quality, portion, service and ambience. The walls are hung with tasteful, conversation evoking art. In the 15 years I've lived in Victoria, I haven't experienced a better venue. If I could give them 6 stars I would.
The atmosphere at cafe brio is fantastic but I have to say I was pretty disappointed with our service and meal considering the google high ratings. My spouse and I had two appetizers and three half mains all of which were luke warm. Some of our dishes were undercooked, one much too salty and overall lacking flavour. Our service was on the slower side, which was fine as we were looking for a longer dinner experience but we waited for a long time at the door before any said hello and quite a while at our table before our server arrived. Our server wasn t the friendliest and seemed put off when we had questions about the menu items. I don t anticipate going back as there are so many other wonderful restaurants in Victoria.
Our fist time visiting Cafe Brio and we won't hesitate to return. The room is comfortable, spacious and inviting, the staff are friendly and efficient and our meal was flat out excellent.
Smaller restaurant, not too crowded. The food is top notch and never disappoints. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. This has been my favourite restaurant in town for several years and continues to do so.
Love cafe Brio. I have a soft spot for here because the first time we tried it, the staff was very accommodating in getting us a table and very friendly when we arrived. We also booked it for Valentine's day and I can't say enough good things about how they called me back after someone cancelled their reservation. Love the staff, love the food, love the location, love the ambiance. Generally, a great place.
Eight of us dined there last night and every one of us enjoyed their food. Service was beyond excellent; we were treated extremely well. We were under a speaker and found the music a bit loud so the waiter turned that speaker off for us. Food, drinks, portion sizes, service, ambience--all were perfect. We will all definitely return. A lovely hidden gem on Fort St.! Thanks for helping to make this a perfect evening.
Pretty much a perfect neighborhood restaurant. Really fresh ingredients in creative dishes. Reminds me of Hearth in Nyc for a fraction of the price. Really cute space and sweet staff as well.
Cozy place but too dark as everyone needed to take their phones out to see the menu. Phone flashlights btw should be pointed down to not blind every nearby patron. My meal was the half scallop, 2 medium sized scallops for 20$. It would have been great if for 10$ a scallop I did not bite into sand every time.. The rest was okay, not great. A friend had the sausage ragout. Delicious. Service was slightly slow but Excellent B waiter. Give that boy a raise!
Fab fab fab! Service was friendly and efficient. Had a great table! Salumi... amazing. Have the chicken liver parfait! It's so airy and flavorful. Also, can't lose on the scallops... bonus: pretty much everything available in half-orders.
