This is and remains the only real Loetje for us. Bit of a shame that some dishes have been removed from the menu after the national standardization of the menu cards

Funny bartender poor and expensive food. With that money that we have been charged in Spain you give a fieston and we have been cold on the table

Disappointing. Firstly a confusing conversation on messager where I asked if I could reserve a table for two and was told to reserve on the website. Once on the website, using Google translate, I worked out you can't reserve for tables less than 6. On arriving we were told there was a wait for tables. This wasn't a problem other than there were plenty of free tables but only for four people. So we had to wait for a table for 2 while there were empty tables and people who arrived after us were seated first. Next we had to wait for menus while the waiters chatted amongst themselves. Our starter came out promptly and was very good (goats cheese). We then waited for 40 minutes for our main courses. One of which was cold. I complained and it was sent back to the kitchen, it came out with hot bacon on the top, the steak was hot but the chicken livers, onions, gravy and original bacon was still cold. When asked if it was ok I said no but I'm hungry so I'll eat it. All in all not great service, a long wait and cold food.

Great steaks (take the Bali steak!) and reasonable prices! Nice terrace, and located close to yet far enough away from the crowdy Museum square.

Very good for a steak and Fries. Food is of a constant high quality. Not super fancy but sometimes that is exactly what you want.

Heeerlijke steak course. You can sit outside on the terrace when the weather is nice.

Above average bitterballen. Definitely worth a visit.

Great stake served in a few different options, cosy place with also good selection of beers.

It is a shame that the staff find it more important to stand chatting than serving the customer. Even when we came in, there were 3 employees chatting, even looking at us, and continued to chat while we were here for a while. In addition, the service at the table was just very bad. The only reason it has two stars is the steak but we will not come back here. Do something to your lazy staff!

Wow did this restaurant make our trip or what!?? This was my favorite Cafe in Amsterdam. Came here with a group of 6 on a Thursday night and it was very packed. We got the steak with gravy sauce (cannot remember what the actual name was called) but WOW!! It was so phenomenal. We ended up eating just the leftover sauce on the plate because the flavor was outstanding.

It's a nice place to have a beer, and food it's good. But you have to wait too long for dinner (no reservations allowed)

I don't get why so many people love this place. I was not impressed with the meat and even less with the service, which was just appalling. It was quite a while ago when I went there, so I hope they're customer service has improved. Our waiter actually asked for a tip when we decided to not give him one (after having been ignored for almost the whole evening).

Delicious eaten. The original Loetje speaks for itself. Absolutely top.

Too busy, unfortunately, so there may be long waiting times. But the Burger and steak are sooo tasty.

We were seated quickly but there was an extremely long wait for everything following that. Waiter condescending when I asked if the schnitzel is served with anything (it s not). I travel to Germany a lot and generally it will come with a salad, potatoes and sauce, so I wanted to ensure I wouldn t be over-ordering. Anyway, the meat was dry, no sauce. I didn t enjoy it. My mother was happy with her chicken satay skewers.

Delicious eaten with the family, this is really a night out now!

steak were cooked to medium rare, chicken and bacom salad was delicious, their famous cake was so good that even those without a sweet tooth enjoyed every little bite of it!

Discrimination is their specialty!

You might want to reconsider coming here if you're not European or especially Asian!!

The schnitzel, steaks, and bitterballen were very good. It was right by our hotel, they have some decent beers, and the service was good. They also have separate English menus if you need them with mostly decent translations.

Well. This is the original Loetje. From which ultimately that hugely successful chain arose. Once an advertising cafe. A rich history is hidden behind many renovations. But what has not changed is the brilliant steak and the hard-working staff.

I expected it as a gourmet restaurant, but it wasn't as good as I expected. Onion stir-fry was a taste that I ate with Korean beef. Don't expect too much, it's okay to have a meal in Amsterdam.

On a normal day one of the best steaks. Christmas dinner was a big disappointment though. Reserve your table way in advance.

Very good food, a little away from the tourist area of Amsterdam, but it is very worthwhile because you eat a lot at a more affordable price and know a little more about Dutch dishes and also frequent places where the Dutch go not only tourists ... I went to the restaurant with my family at the recommendation of a Dutch friend, we were very well attended.

One of my favorite meals in Amsterdam. My husband's and I shared the schnitzel, bitterballen, and apple pie. It was easily enough food for the 2 of us. It was all so good!

The steak gets an A and the gravy makes it an A+. If you are in Amsterdam and craving steak, go here. The rest of the food was good as well, but I'll definitely remember it for the steak.

The original steak and steak Bali are definitely recommended here. The staff is certainly not always friendly, but can always be found (sometimes with some waiting time). Because this location is not very large, the atmosphere can still be kept nice and intimate.

Charging 2,70 euro for a cup of hot water to top off your tea is not creating goodwill with your customers. Being told in an unfriendly manner the staff receive a lot of strange requests and we offer only certain products so we charge you for a tea without a teabag doesnot leave a great impression of the establishment. I am in the customer service business and would not have dealt with this request in thismanner.
I don t expect anything for free in the Netherlands, but this left quite an unpleasant impression. A small nominal charge would have sufficed. Due to the nature of our business we have groups of colleagues frequenting your restaurant almost nightly giving you a lot of business and recommendation, which makes this experience all the more disappointing to be treated so rudely and dismissively. I hope you will consider to give your staff the freedom to use their own judgment and discretion (as I would have done) in dealing with certain customer requests.

Amazing food and great vibe. Had a great time there.

Steak and Chips. The fillet steak was medium rare in a butter source, the chips are thin but not French thin and cooked to perfection. Simple food cooked very very well. Great service, and a lovely outside seating area. Recommend visit for lunch or dinner.

The steaks may not look particularly appealing on the plate, but it s a must-try! Really delicious food, good service, and there s even service water available which is a rarity in the Netherlands.

We arrived late in Amsterdam and seems not much eatery are operating. Busy, food is average, service is just so so. I am surprise to read the review back and saying it's supposed to be best meat and steak in town. Well- "suppose". I would rather say with a 30euro for a fillet grade steak which is worth the money. And it's busy atmosphere :)
