Had a great experience at Cactus Catina on 6APR21 got a nice outdoor seating just before the evening dinner rush. Ordered the Reynosa and it was delicious and came out fast. The red wine sangria was one of my favorite blends so far. Hostess and Waiter were professional and kind even let me practice a little Spanish. I look forward to returning or ordering online. Special thanks following covid protocols too.
I m from California and was craving some good Mexican food. I was checking out the National Cathedral and saw a Mexican joint very close. The food was decent but nothing compared to CA Mexican food, and even the Mexican food in NC is better. The Cuban Mojito was very good though. HA
Drinks and food are fine but not fantastic. Staff are very friendly and attentive!
Cactus Cantina is probably my new favorite Mexican food spot like seriously. I love tacos so much and I am pretty critical when it comes to the way my tacos are made. However, Cactus Cantina hit the nail on the head with their shrimp tacos! Each taco had a slice of avocado, beautiful plating with grilled, caramelized onions! I loved every minute of every bite!
Our server was pretty cool as were the hostesses. The only issue I had was the fact that the website clearly says Happy Hour from 3:00pm - 6:30pm. When we arrived, we were told we had to sit in the bar for Happy Hour, but when I asked to be moved to the bar area, we were told that Happy Hour doesn't exist. This was frustrating! I think that the Happy Hour page should be taken down from the website as this is misleading.
My first time eating here couldn't have been better. My friends come here often and ordered their favorite quesadillas. I ordered a combination plate of beef (shredded not ground), chicken and cheese enchiladas. We just had to wait a few minutes to get a table outside. The atmosphere was so nice with a lot of happy people enjoying good food on a beautiful day.
Gerson made our experience at Cactus Cantina exceptional! My father and I dined there last week and split a large entree. Gerson took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. He even took our photo by the light-up cactus which truly made my father happy. Service like Gerson felt genuine, we will definitely request him next time we go!
Covered, heated, outdoor dining. We beat the rush at 5:50 and the lines grew from there. Tasty good and friendly service.
Okay look I'm usually a positive reviewer but this place was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me.
I think service is just as important as food.
This place really is huge so I get there's lots of work to be done. But none of the waiters or waitresses had any urgency infact we had 3 bowls of chips before we got our waters. Now I will say the only human I saw running and working was a food runner named Juan. Even the owner /manager came out and moved at snail speed. I noticed only the food runners were really going fast. Very dissatisfied with service except Juan and his team.
After 40 minutes of no one waiting on us, I had to speak up to get service.
On to the food.
I will say If none of the above happened they would have gotten 5 stars cause the chips and food was beautiful shout out to the chef. Drinks were also great so bar tenders keep it up. I will say my last picture does have a small hair in it. I really would not have even mentioned it if the service was better.
I really wanted to leave a better review but I just couldn't. I would like to give this place one more chance in the future because food was so tasty and dressed beautifully.
Just had lunch and it was awesome. The food is very flavourful and exciting and the drinks are really good. Points to the bartender. The server was kinda busy but did his best to be attenttive. The host was not polite at all.. almost like she did not want to be there.
