I wouldn't say this is really authentic vietnamese...
I wouldn't say this is really authentic vietnamese food, kind of westernized version perhaps, but nevertheless it is tasty.

3.5...rounding up!
Better than I expected. When a friend suggested this place, I was a bit hesitant as I was expecting overpriced/Americanized Vietnamese food. And while it is a bit on the pricey side compared to the banh mis in the TL (Tenderloin neighborhood), the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Instead of the two slices of meat you get from Lee's Sandwiches, the five spice chicken banh mi I ordered was packed to the brim with meat and topped with a heaping pile of veggies.
Clean restaurant with plenty of seating in and outdoors. I'd suggest this place to get your Vietnamese cravings satisfied if you aren't able to go to the TL.
A different take on the classic Vietnamese sandwich. Therefore I was a little disappointed because it did not seem extremely authentic. But overall pretty tasty. Definitely a popular spot especially given the convenient location.
Awesome sandwiches and their Viet coffee is perfect. My favorite sandwich is the combo. Has a lot of delicious fillings inside!
Pro - wow love the concept here. A good place to visit for healthy lunch. I had the summer rolls which were filling also.
I've tried almost everything on the menu and have enjoyed it all. Cool atmosphere and friendly staff.
Great place for Vietnamese noodles or sandwiches. I'm definitely a repeat customer.
This is a fairly average Vietnamese fast-casual restaurant. It's good but not great, I would actually rate this 3.5 if I could. It basically has dishes you would expect at a reasonable price but just not quite as good as what you get in Little Saigon.
Great tasting pork ban-mi! Gonna have to go back and try the other sandwiches!
Loved this place for lunch. I went at 12:30 ish and was able to get a good seat.
Awesome happy hour prices. $5 for the belly bun which is a MUST, best cheap after work dinner in the market area.
Recently got an undercooked egg here but otherwise the happy hour menu is great! Starts at 5PM
The bun mee roll was nice. Good bread mostly good filings. I reckon I'd skip the mortadella no idea why you'd put that in bun mee. After taste of hot mortadella is not ok. Lost them a star as it developed while I sat her writing this review. They reckon their jalapeno is hot but yeah nah, not hot mate.
This is an interesting take on the normal lunch sandwich! I tried the Hanoi-Style Crispy Catfish sandwich. It didn't blow me away but it was definitely tasty! And, the service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely go back to try their other 8 different sandwich options.
Fries are amazing. But our banh mi were chock full of pickled carrots, which was all we could taste. Terrible. For a similar pricepoint but much better banh mi, try Freshroll instead.
They ve risen to the top in terms of San Francisco bahn mi spots. Maybe that s because a lot of the prior standouts have declined recently, but maybe that s just how it goes.
Bun Mee offers a non-traditional take on bahn mi and bowls, in a way that generally succeeds but sometimes misses the mark.
If it sounds strange, proceed with caution. If you re into that, go for it.
Really affordable salads, sandwiches and other meals. Delicious food, reasonable prices, and really fast service. All sandwiches and meals are hand-made just after your order is placed. Great Vietnamese flavors and unique tastes!
A good choice is need to grab something quick @ Market Street. The place is clean, service is fast and friendly. I opted for the grilled pork Bun Mee and my friend had the fresh spring rolls with toffu which she really loved. The grilled pork was tasty but maybe i'm not just a Bun Mee person as I didn't find the sandwich that great to come back for it. But overall experience was nice. The seating area inside is pretty cute. They shut at 2:30 sharp!
I found the bread very disappointing. The contents of the crispy tofu sandwich were tasty, and I'm glad I added avocado. The eggplant sandwich wasn't as good--a bit cold and mushy.
Great alternative to the usual lunch fare. Nice variety of foods on the menu. Not nearly as cheap as an authentic Banhn Mi, nor quite as good, but the menu variety and clean, friendly atmosphere make up for this.
Price point is a little high, and not terribly authentic, but I like the food. Also the salt and pepper fries are pretty good.
It would be better if it didn't take 20 minutes to get food over lunch. There are much better places that I'd rather wait in line for. Maybe I'm just not a Banh Mi person. Maybe I should learn to spell it before I judge it.
Simple and delicious Vietnamese eats with a few twists. I got the smokey eggplant Bun Mee and asked to make it vegetarian, yum! Great flavour and the perfect bun, really reminded me of my time in Hoi An. friendly and speedy service you won't be disappointed for the price.
Five spice chicken sandwich:
Really bland and boring! My sandwich was very one dimensional. What a waste of calories :(
This place was a letdown. The food was not very good. I ordered a mango kale salad and it didn't taste very fresh. The music was also too loud. I probably won't go back.
Wonderful wonderful food! I make sure to visit this place everytime i'm in town!
You can't go wrong with the Citrus Rice Bowl w/Pork.
The food isn't memorable but a $9 sandwich that I've gotten elsewhere for $4 is hard to forget. The major innovation here seems to be their efficient app-based lunch business.
If you re a vegetarian - I wouldn t recommend this place. Ordered tofu spring rolls and crispy tofu sandwich. Tofu wasn t crispy, lettuce in the spring rolls had brown bits and looked old. Lemon taste was way too overpowering. The only good thing was the bread and sauce in the sandwich. Quite disappointed
Poor service (bad attitude) and worse food. So many better places to go to.
Overpriced but delicious. I'm used to paying $4 for one, not $10 but catering to the FiDi crowd.
Delicious lemongrass chicken bahn mi and very nice staff.
Modern Vietnamese fast food. Tried the sweet potato fries, sweet and crispy. Never had banh mi served like this, with a fried egg on top. Something new and tasted pretty decent.
I come back every time I'm in San Francisco. They have a happy hour.
Great selection of tasty banh mi. The sweet potato fries are delicious too.
The location of this place is definitely convenient to public transit and many offices in the city, so it seems like a common lunch spot.
They have vegan options, including as far as I can tell, the tofu bahn mi and eggplant bahn mi (substituting soy mayo).
I got the tofu bahn mi through MealPal and it appears to be the normal size, which is nice, and the sandwich itself was good.
It doesn't seem like a traditional Vietnamese place, but I don't have a problem with that. The sauce used was a little too sweet for my taste, partly because the carrots already add a good amount of sweetness, but the tofu was sufficiently crispy and flavorful. I also liked that the bread wasn't too thick (it may have been hollowed out) so the tasty inside of the sandwich were more noticeable. I definitely appreciate the spice of the jalapenos, but it is something to consider if you don't enjoy spicy food.
I have to give this four stars because Dinosaurs, which has a few locations in the city and serves similar food, just does a better tofu bahn mi in my opinion. Their tofu is shredded and fried to create a wonderful texture that is more interesting than just marinating it.
In any case, the sandwich packaging here (shown in the attached photos) was noticeably well-designed aesthetically. Too many places have succumbed to using a plain white paper or similar, so this was an added touch that made the food feel a tiny bit more premium.
Get the iced coffee to go with whatever you get... everything is of course amazing!
I always expect their tofu sandwich to be better than it is; it looks great but it's just not. It has too little tofu on it and the tofu is overcooked. It's a shame because a tofu banh can be a great sandwich, and it's really the only vegetarian option on the menu (they can take the mayo off if you want it vegan).
Convenient place to grab a banh mi. They have a happy hour from 3-6pm where they have a special plate and the banh mi are only $5
The 5 spice chicken sandwich was lack luster the service wasn't that great either. They're more concern with you tipping them than actually doing their job and making recommendations. It used to be great but not anymore: Bread too hard, the meat wasn't flavorful the carrots were bland and underwhelming considering they used to have some flavor.
Good lunch spot with Vietnamese inspired cuisine. I like the Hawker Bowl, personally.
GREAT happy hour spot. $3.50 beers! In FiDi. Seriously?
Yummy Vietnamese sandwich! I got the tofu version. Was very good spicy and crispy! The tofu was a bit smokey tasting and that was great. Also their sweet potato fries were UNREAL!! They come with some aoli sauce(can t remember the name) defo a place to check out!!
I ordered through the Allset app and my food was ready before I arrived. They seem quite organized. The place was clean, service was good and employees were friendly. Busy and long line during lunchtime, but still had places to sit.
This is the vegan brown rice bowl. Tasty!
Happy hour 3 to 6pm nice price and nice chilli fries!!!
I like most everything on the menu but I feel it can be a bit oily. It is very busy during lunch rush.
it's popular, so there's usually a wait at lunchtime. bring a friend who can grab a table while you order.
Great lunch option near Union Square. I had their bun Mee sandwich with grilled five spice chicken, caramel mayo, onion, pickled carrot, Daikin, cucumbers, and jalapenos. The chicken was excellent quality and the flavours were awesome.
Great banh mi
Has daily 5 dollar sandwich special between 4 to 6, and 2 dollar (good) draft beer
Suggest asking them to go light on carrots since they put a bunch on the sandwich typically
The staff here are fantastic. Working in the service industry is hard and keeping a good attitude whilst having to deal with some customers who are otherwise the scourge of humanity at times is thankless.
Sandwich was dry and the bread was too hard, maybe over-toasted. I should have know that Ban Mi from a place that sells sweet potato fries wasn't going to be great but it's so much closer than Dragan Eats. Next time, I'll take the walk!
Veg sandwich is fine, but not worth coming back given the other banh mi options around.
Not quite as good as the one on Fillmore. That said, the food here is delicious
I tried this based on a recommendation from someone from work. I was going specifically for the happy hour prices and I was not disappointed; amazing happy hour prices and the food was terrific. The regular prices are not bad at all and the service was great. I would definitely recommend this place.
Delicious Thai food and excellent prices in San Francisco. Restaurant is right across from the Hilton.
Had one of the bowls and loved it! Went at peak lunch time but was still served quickly. Everyone was friendly. Overall great experience and yummy food! Only problem is the amount of seating but most people are getting their orders to go anyway :)
Nice spot to grab a quick bite. Next to Montgomery BART exit.
Convenient location for FiDi and SoMa employees. Quick spot for to-go or dine-in options. The pre made spring rolls are a great, healthy, fast option.
Very friendly staff at this location.
Vegan option was good. Could have been a cleaner restaurant
The price point is great. I had a pork lemongrass sandwich and it was tasty, though not the best banh mi I ve ever had. I would also recommend the iced coffee. Very yummy!
