Building service 32bj benefit funds Review

Worst service EVER, called to speak to a lawyer, NO one available, every lawyer who was assigned to my husband's case no longer works for the company, I was told a supervisor would call back in a few she's currently speaking to someone else, 8 hrs later, NO returned call. I know he"ll be waiting for the next 5-6 mths before getting a call back. In this case it's an emergency and no one available to assist in any way. Sad!!

I submitted my paperwork in may ofr my letter of acceptance for my my pension and no one has even barked they made me do the footwork then disappeared

Not a strong and supportive union. They allow the buildings to make rules that some will consider a voiletion of ur freedoms.

Please allow me bring forth some important information to an inquiring individuals attention that may not be known. Thomas Shortman 32BJ Funds provides over 120 different classes FREE to its members! All they have to do is register for G.E.D., E.S.L., G.E.D. in Spanish, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration courses etc., there are even courses there that can be applied towards college credits! What other Union offers such a wide array of education to its members? None! They have morning classes for members that work over night, night classes for members who work during the day, and even Saturday classes for members who have no time to attend during the week as well. The trade courses alone I mentioned above if taken privately would have the out of pocket cost of ten of thousands of dollars. They provide certification programs for Superintendent, Building Manager, Handyman etc. For members to elevate into higher positions in their careers.
32BJ industry instructors teach out of passion. They are on a much higher echelon than these, "chop shop", trade schools out there that over promise and under deliver. They are actual seasoned Tradesmen, some with over 30+ years in the field and many, many years of instructor experience.
Further more... the negative reviews that have been posted on here are 100% misleading because of the simple fact these issues have nothing to do at all with Thomas Shortman 32BJ Funds. This is a SCHOOL that operates entirely in a completely different sector. They have absolutely nothing to do with members pensions, grievances, insurance etc.

Union is always speaking the dental clinic. Try to make an appt you can't .They'll tell u to call back in 1 MONTH.-after u waited 45 minutes for them to answer the phone. Rude and dismissive. We pay dues for this. Horrible and out of touch.

Every time I have contacted the 32BJ office they have been very helpful and have given me phone numbers I need for MD referrals, etc.

Excellent office environment and cooperative minded staff.

Best union by far always helped us and negotiating best contracts for building workers throughout the city
