I have been with Buckeye insurance company for almost 40 years. About 30 years ago, I had a claim when a tornado tore off my barn roof and traveled 4 more miles and took out an entire subdivision of Arcanum. It had one of the longest continual mile touchdown records at that time.

When I put on the claim for the barn roof, Buckeye said, get a contractor, send us the bill. We will take care you (and they did)

I was very satisfied the way they handled the claim and stayed with them since.

We COULD have had a claim some years later, when we got hit by lightning and fire shot out of every outlet in the house. The telephone burned the phone book it was sitting on. It knocked out the furnace, washer, dryer, hot water heater, water softener, and a universal power supply (but the computers plugged in it were spared) It blew inch copper grounding cables from the lightning rods clear out of the ground. We never replaced those. Except for the furnace, which just needed a part, and the UPS, we already had modernization plans and already had money allotted for replacing the other items before we ever got hit, so we did not file a claim, because we felt it was unethical to do so, even though we COULD have,

January winds severely damaged my barn and house roof. So I felt comfortable putting in a claim for wind damage.

Roof replacement is required. So the insurance company sent me a check for $2900. That doesn't begin to cover costs of fixing damage and amid many protests and sending many estimates, they only granted $300 more. So I just went to the bank and got a $5,000 loan to make up the difference. And as I did so I'm wondering whatever happened to the "send us the bill, and we will take care of you" service? Since when does a $1500 deductible require a $5,000 loan to make up the difference?

Something in that company has changed in 40 years. So I called my insurance company, and they advised me that they are moving away from that company in their list of insurers. What used to be a wonderful company has become corrupt and greedy.

Terrible Insurance company. Since I've been insured by Buckeye I have had 3 claims on my house. only 1 of the 3 were paid by Buckeye. The other 2 I had to spend around $8,000 out of my pocket to fix my roof from Hail damage. The total cost for a roofing co. to replace my roof was around 18,000! They refused to pay it and had thier "Engineer" inspect my roof. He told me that there was no damage because there wasn't any through my roof .When I asked what he meant by "penetration" I was told the hail did not go completely through the roof! At this time there were several hundred homes in my small town of about 800 to 1000 Homes that had their roofs replaced because of the same hail storm. In fact every house around me had to have a new roof! But somehow my house didn't need replaced(Right!!) None of my neighbors have Buckeye insurance! I know why! Also, they love to raise your rates and not tell you why! Crooks!!! Don't waste you money!!
