If you are considering a software from this company and thinking about buying it for the life of your system, then think again. Since the software requires it to be activated and verified through their activation system, the life of your purchase really depends on Encore's will. Regardless of you using the same old system, if Encore is no longer supporting the version you have, they expect you to buy the same software again. Let me clarify, you buy a software to make it work on Windows 7. A year later, they stop supporting that version. You have to buy a new version again for your still the same Windows 7 system. It is also not a really new version since the software really did not change for the past 20 years. Great deal.
If a company wants to charge for their product yearly, then they should switch to subscription plan and be honest about it.
