Buyer Beware. We bought tickets in October for a Christmas Eve show. After waiting in line for 45mins, we were told they oversold the show and we couldn't get in. Read other reviews, you'll see this is a recurring experience. Along with us, 20 or 30 others were turned away. What an unethical way to run a business.
The street vendor was a total liar. Being eager tourists excited to experience all NYC had to offer, we were duped into thinking we were attending a FILMING for COMEDY CENTRAL-agggghhhh. Not only were we disappointed by this, but the lack of quality comedians was unfortunate. When all but 1 comedian focuses on vulgarities and obscenities, I have to think this must be a recurring theme for this particular club. I suppose when you aren't clever, you just default to sex, masturbation, pedophilia, and obscenities. What a shame.
My husband and I went to the 11:00 show on a Thursday evening. We were offered to sit and watch the end of the previous show, so we decided to stay. The waitress never offered to take a drink order , but instead stood and talked to the people at the next table while the comedian was trying to do his show , so we never heard his act which I thought was very rude and unprofessional. We paid for the tickets but I felt it was a waste of my time. I think management should retrain this waitress on "customer service"
Zero stars!! Don t go. Period. Last night I purchased tickets online and was going with my boyfriend and my sister (visiting from out of town) to see the 9pm show. When we got there I didn t see the todaytix person out front to retreive our tickets. So I went up to the door man to ask him a simple question. Excuse me, where do we... is all I got out before he barked at me that I wasn t the only person there and went on from there.. he refused to answer a simple question or even let me speak at all. While putting his hand up to stop me from speaking. I m pretty sure that s not what doorman are suppose to do. He was the rudest and most unwelcoming experience that I have ever encountered at any establishment in NYC and we hadn t even gotten in the door yet. They need to fire him and retrain their entire staff!!!!
This isn t how you treat YOUR CUSTOMERS!
My friend was scheduled to perform with a bunch of other people including TJ Miller. We arrived at the place a little late so we weren't charged and didnt have to order anything but NOBODY on the bill (besides my friend) actually performed. After the show, we were rushed out so they could prepare of another show. Some of the comics were great though. Why was it ridiculously hot at the venue? They really need AC. Meh.
I took my daughter here for a night out in New York and she had a great time.
Kind of a dive as far as comedy clubs go. While the staff were a bit disorganized at first, I found them very pleasant and helpful overall. Drinks are definitely on the steep side, but the food is reasonably priced if you prefer to meet the 2-item minimum that way.
Most importantly, the comics we saw were funny and I had a very nice evening overall.
terrible comedians, you should come here if you love being ripped off too. To top it all off, there was a rude staff. Bad experience.
Busting out laughing
Great variety of styles and types of comedians. Plenty of seats at tables for your drink, so comfortable.
The comedians here were top class. However. They herd you into cramped seating and you may be left with your back to the stage.
Comedy...with very few laughs. For the most part, at least. Nothing against the venue, or even the comics, but most of the sets were so dull. It might have been the crowd, considering it was a Monday night, but I payed a good amount of money to see this show, I d hope to expect good performers. There were 1-2 who stood out, but the rest of the 5 were very poor. I was overall disappointed with the show, but the venue and the service was good.
Staff, entertainment, people.. All great.. I've enjoyed myself each time I've been.
I love this show so much!!! I went there with my friend yesterday & went again today and we laughed so much!!! All the comedians were funny in different ways..I was laughing so much that I started coughing chocking on my drink
I ll definitely go back again...
The ones who thought it wasn t funny, they might don t want to pay & laugh, or had a bad day
The comedians were decent- the seating is folding tables and stacking banquet chairs- if you are with a smaller group you will sit with strangers, but that was part of the fun for our group on this occasion.
Only 3 out of 10 of the comedians were actually funny. I don't think you should be forced to pay for drinks if you dont want them.
Scam 40 dollar drinks and they lie about everything
Very funny show! People were very friendly serving us as well. Fun night.
Great show! A bit of a range of talent, but that can be expected. Expensive drinks, but cheap tickets and a 2.5h show! Very impressed by the length, an overall great experience.
Fun club. Bare bones presents old school NYC shows with nice mix of up and coming talent along side comedy veterans. Pretty cheap as comedy clubs go.
A little tight downstairs venue, $10 drinks, 2 drink minimum. Wonderful show , fun, enjoyable, they often have tickets discounted as low as 5 bucks, look on Everbrite.
Comedians were terrible, only laughed occasionally cause I felt bad for them. LOL Comedy Club the night before my face and stomach was sore from laughing so much!
We watched the Comedy Sportz show on a Saturday at 6. This is a great, family friendly improv show that for the whole crowd involved. The comedians were well trained and it was refreshing to see a different take on comedy (much like Whose Line). There is a 2-purchase minimum from the house, but all the food was good and the server was nice. This is the upstairs show, and they have a different show downstairs at the same time.
I should have stretched my face because I couldn t stop laughing
it was good overall. you need to order 2 drinks atleast which are highly priced (for the reason we all know) after paying 25 to 30 for the ticket. So beware of this hidden fart
The comedy was okay. The experience ruined the whole thing. You purchase tickets in advance and then stand on a line and wait to get in. Then when you do get in, you re jammed into a basement with tables meant for 6 people max crammed with 8 people - to the point some people don t have table space, and then you re forced to do two subpar s drinks. When the bill comes out, you re charged a 24% gratuity on service that is nonexistent (half of our group for their first drinks 20 minutes after the other half). And for the love, please fix your air conditioning. It was so HOT!
These people are scam artist...they sell tickets on Broadway. Telly out there is a big name and you get drinks and snacks and it is all a lie. Then when you get there the big tough door man has all the right answers to the scam....you are screwed...i feel bad for the comedians...to work in a shimmy no integrity place....run
Brilliant night out...been both times ive been in nyc...sunday night is great
Great comedians and good location, in ways. It has a hard time of line control when there's no place to really stand outside to wait to get in and the seating inside is very odd and uncomfortable.
Had a great time! Great place to go for ladies night!
Don't listen to people selling tickets on the street. One guy told me that Tina Fey was doing standup. I did some research and found out the guy was lying. Heck, I'm sure Richard Prior & Robin Williams are there all the time...
Show started on time, two drink minimum at $10 a beer is steep.
I love this place I've been here 4 times and everytime i have a blast
Wish we read these reviews before we bought the tickets. Just a bad experience all in all. We bought the tickets on the street in Times Square and all the information we got from the guy was false: you will get drinks 2 for 1 (WRONG they actually have a rule of minimum 2 drinks per person during the show), you will be able to wait inside and get something at the bar until the show starts (VERY WRONG as we waited outside in the cold and then 40 minutes in a improvised line in the lobby). Some people that went to the show say it is funny once you get inside but the their whole system to get inside is absolute chaos AND there is not only one show there is one main show and other secondary shows you will be added to if you don't get in the main one. It was clear people that were working at the entrance are very used to angry customers and are numb to it. Sorry for them and sorry for everyone that had to experience this on a Saturday night. Just a big no.
The performances I saw tonight we're actual elementary level. I did not have an awful night but would definitely not go back to see this level of comedy. I would also not recommend to people who are interested in political comedy to go see these performances. Maybe 80 percent of the jokes were just about sexual experiences and racial slurs and not in a smart way. But all in all this was my first experience watching non professionals and it was interesting to see how different the jokes are when performers are that young and inexperienced.
Great atmosphere and comedy. Little pricey on drinks
Interesting venue. Have college student discounts. We had fun, the comedians were some of the best weve seen in nyc!
Horrible. Scam, force to pay monstrous tips without warning. Forced to take two glasses (rotten 10-ball sodas) even if we had to eat ... manager who takes us for hams, to flee
Ugly club, quite bad comedian, 15 dollars for 2 bottles of water and you MUST buy it otherwise they won t let u out, DON T Go there! 40 dollars for an hour show!
Some of the comedians were ok but the place was 90 degrees. The room was beyond stuffy no ventilation whatsoever! It was a sauna!!! Literally we felt the heat from Hells Kitchen. They place chairs by the door walk way and the in & out of the staff was non stop.
Typical basement comedy club, not the type of place a New Yorker would visit, It is a tourist trap. The acts aren't that bad most are just starting out on the comedy scene. Ticket sellers can be found in or around times Square holding comedy club clip boards, the ticket prices they offer will be inflated you can haggle them down to $15 or $10. I wouldn't go back, once was enough.
Well liked but I suggest to arrive at least 45 minutes before your show because they may refuse you.
Saw some great sets tonight. Definitely will come back again.
don't come here. paid for two tickets and they didn't let us in. amateur hour.
Great shows!! Been going for 10 years!! Great job guys
The best budget friendly comedy club in NYC by far!!!! This is the comedy club we take all our friends and family too. Their drinks are reasonably priced and taste great! The comics are hilarious and you will definitely be laughing the whole time! Highly recommended
There were three comedians who did well but the thieves on the street selling tickets will tell you any one from Jimmy Fallon to Charlie Murphy is at the club . The 2 drink minimum guarantees they get you for at least another 25 dollars for water . I bought my drinks and 2 girls from Toronto (waters ) for 115 and most the people on their website were never even there and the staff acts like nothing is wrong they weren't even in nyc . Go get raped by broadway comedy club
Totally depends on WHO is performing. Don't order a screwdriver their orange juice is WATERED DOWN. There is a 2 drink minimum. Beers are $9 mixed drinks $9-11, daiquiris $12...the food is ok-ish....basic BAR food. Sliders, nachos, chicken tenders and fries. Roughly about $8-12 on the food.....They put a HEFTY gratuity on your bill so tip more IF you want. But it was a decent crowd for a Wednesday night.
Comedians were all good but of course the waiter we had took literally 30 minutes to get our drinks. 2 drink minimum turned to a 2 drink maximum as well
I actually was very disappointed by the show because it was extremely explicit. I noticed even the audience wasn't moved by certain comedians
Really good time! I loved how low key and down to earth the whole thing is. Will definitely be back.
It was good. as expected some of the comics were better on the night than others
Comedy wasn't all that great and they charge $6 for water but my tickets were free so can't complain too hard
What a scam! I am giving 2 stars just because overall I had a fun night with my dad and sister, other wise it would be lower. We are locals and decided to do something different and fun. When buying the tickets, Sergio told us that it was the 50th anniversary show, and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey were headlining. He sold us "VIP Tickets" for $20/each to sit front row in a 450+ person auditorium. He said they were $60 at the door, so we thought we were getting a great deal. He then told us how Rosie O'Donnell had performed the night before, and that Comedy Central was there recording it. We were pumped! When I got there, I thought we were at the wrong place. It was in a basement that held 40 people tops. The 2 drink minimum was noted on the ticket, and pretty standard, so we weren't bothered by that. The comedians were mediocre at best, definitely not Tina Fey and Amy Poehler though. The experience wasn't awful, but I did not appreciate being lied right to my face. Complete scam!
This place is really good, the acts are always really funny. Check out the Groupon for it, it's a good deal
This comedy club deserves 1 star, because the wait staff take forever to get u drinks. The comedians were not even funny, I would definitely recommend going to another comedy club in the area. Not to mention how small the space is, crammed into a table that is fit for 6 people but they put 10 at a table.
The Comedians were good but the club itself and the drinks are pretty bad.
Anyone who doesn't know that ALL comedy clubs are bare-bones and have a 2-drink minimum shouldn't be allowed to post because they are TOO STUPID FOR LIFE. CHEESES H. RICE!
WATCH YOUR TAB AND CHANGE! Got ripped-off by the waiter. (5'-8"ish dark hair tattoos) He did a switch out of a twenty dollar bill like a magician and claimed I didn't put the right amount of money on the table. He said I made the mistake. Petty Thief. It would take a dozen of their watered-down drinks for me to miscount $67. The comics were good but the theft incident left a bad taste in my mouth. I wont go back.
In one word it's amazing. Comedians are great and staff it's great too.
The 2h shows with the 7 performers was so funny !
The cons, we pay 25$ each from one of their official street seller and some peoples pay 10$, that s not fair !
Behind the ticket it was specify free appetizer but the waiter refuse to honor it and said that it was not include...
Cocktails (from 9$ to 12$) are good, for unknown reason the first one was big and the second one half size... (same price)
It's a down to earth location, food was great, the hot wings needed to spicy but it was buffalo wings not little wings. You get your money worth. The comedians were funny.
Doorman / bouncer was a complete tool. The seats are normally free, or you can buy them for whatever a time square person can sell them to you for. We walked in and were treated so poorly by the guy at the door we decided to leave. Have a better time and pay a homeless violinist play you a song rather than go to this place.
Been there 3 times.... Only 1 or 2 comedians at the most are good... The friendly staff n service... Junky menu... Normal drinks... Very tight space inside... We left twice b4 end of the show...
I am writing with a lot of disappointment. We bought the tickets from someone who was just selling the tickets to for this show with an official card and everything. He assured that the show is 13+ and it will be ok for a teen to attend. We bought two tickets and we couldn't sit more than 5 minutes to watch the show. I was shocked with the amount of profanity and sexual content of the show from the get go. Even I was uncomfortable and did find the amount of profanity unbearable and in no way funny. We left and I expressed my disappointment to the lady at the front who said that she can not refund the tickets because we bought it from a 'third party'. She claimed none of that money gets to them and they only make money off of the mandatory drinks that you have to buy a minimum of 2 per person. No apologies or any form of feeling responsible for the tickets that wede sold on their behalf. She told me to go back to the spot that I bought the tickets and get my refund from the person that I bought the tickets from . By the way the guys who sold us the tickets showed texts with the comedy club and said he work for them.
This is Perfect scam. We love supporting artists apecially theater and stand up artists but what we experienced tonight was really terrible. Avoid this place.
Very funny comedians. The Organization of the establishments was terrible.
Kindaaa felt sketchy but then actually had a pretty good time! I feel like it could be a hit or miss depending on the crowd and the comedians on that particular night.
DO NOT BUY TICKETS IN TIMES SQUARE. Bought tickets in Times Square to what what supposed to be a show with a star from SNL and Comedy Central. Can t even count the number of lies we were told on one hand. Two drink minimum and 10 performers we have never heard of. Some of them were funny but it was extremely raunchy and we were disappointed that we were told so many lies leading us to a suspicious building.
Small venue but the comedy was great, the staff was nice and it was worth the money.
