This place needs someone on the phone and I am sure more funding. I called repeatedly to no reply. The fax team I know give their best. The state of Florida are the ones that need to give them more support!

I was blessed in 2005 to become a resident i one Boley's residential communities. I came out of a transitional housing community. I lived in my apartment with Boley for 5 years. I'm a Veteran, so I was receiving therapy and treatment via Bay Pines. If and when I had any concerns with my residence, I contacted Boley, whether it was a request to change my locks, maintenance issues, unruly neighbors, or the dumpster being full. Boley representatives immediately responded to my needs. The other residents in my complex had a case manager, who frequently visited them (since my services were provided by Bay Pines, I wasn't assigned a Boley caseworker). There was at least one bad apple in our 8 apartment community, at any given time, but I minded my business, and didn't allow pettiness to steal my joy. I can honestly say, the services that I received from Boley were a blessing. Rent was income based, which made it affordable for me. I was not stressed about trying to make ends meet as I walked my journey of recovery, learning how to live and manage my life in a healthy way. So, I say, Thank You Boley for doing what you do! I pray others are being Blessed by your offerings! To all those who haven't experienced the goodness of their services., may the God of your understanding bless you via other avenues!
horrible service. I had been trying to apply for rent assistance. I am an immigrant. I faced A LOT OF discrimination. Nevena Foote unprofessional worker. she does not know how much was first stimulus check for single person... basically she accused me of lying. I INDICATED IN MY APPLICATION THAT I GET $1200 STIMULUS CHECK AS A SINGLE PERSON.. She told me THAT A SINGLE PERSON HAVE TO GET $600...SHE MESSED UP that $600 it is was for people who apply for unemployment benefits!!!! YES I AM FREAKING IMMIGRANT AND YOU CAN PICK ON ME OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!! I guess they approve only them relatives... GOD BLESS!!!!
Do not attempt to live at a Boley Centers property and keep your sanity. The properties are not managed in any sense of the word other than maintenance. Drugs are not uncommon at many properties, tenants partying and their friends over all night, loud music at all hours, fights, bullying tenants filing false police reports and being called out constantly. No amount of trying to get mgmt. to assist with things works as they really don't want to hear it. Most of the staff is not qualified to counsel in behavioral health but are simply social workers, if even that. Huge turn over in staff. It was the worst experience of my entire life, hands down. It took me two years of good therapy somewhere else to overcome the trauma and psychological damage I experienced while living there for five years. I would rate 0 if it was an option.
I wanted to say that all the staff at Jerry Howe are amazing!
Dawn- Dawn is incredibly personable, a person with whom you can develop a genuine rapport, and a leader who goes the extra mile to make sure everyone has what they need to thrive in this program. Dawn is great helping veterans with interpersonal relationship issues, as well as helping specific veterans in develop those crucial skills.
Bernie- Personally, I think Bernie is hilarious with his dry wit. He always checks on each consumer every morning, and he greets each consumer with a smile and a joke. He even greets my service dog in the morning with kindness.
Donnie- I think Donnie is superb, and him being a career Navy service-member and now veteran, makes him incredibly relatable for me as a Marine veteran. He still has the leadership style of a Navy Chief Petty Officer, and I often go to him for advice as a former junior Marine to a senior Navy staff-NCO. I feel like we have that military kind of relationship which is helpful when my issues are military related. Donnie is really dedicated to veteran troop-welfare.
Sheryl- I can t say enough positive things about Sheryl. She is a true friend many consumers have long talks with on the patio, and she gives useful pragmatic advice (which isn t surprising since she is a former New York police officer). Sheryl also goes the extra mile for each consumer, cooking a homemade meal for everyone each Sunday afternoon. She s also a hilarious and an incredible person. Sheryl is great with problem-solving skills.
Like I said, all the staff are great here to every veteran. They are doing a wonderful job with helping each veteran come up with an action plan on how we can figure out a plan or attack for the next step, and how we can better enrich our lives and become better people.
They are also genuinely patient and loving to my service dog-in-training which is my lovely energetic Belgian Malinois.
I was given this facilities phone number and location for mental health situation s. Couldn t even get through to a real person. I actually had to leave a voicemail message. This is a place for mental health. Now I am a patient that needs assistance and they re not even having anybody answering their phones. I just got a call at 10:30 today of my return message. Which was two days ago. They never announced them self, The lady said to me how can I help you. I asked her who am I speaking with. This is how they called me back. Do not go to this facility do not.
Does a poor job at vetting who receives money. If they did a better job, they wouldn't fund people who clearly have more means (large houses with income units) than those of us who work full-time and long, hard hours.

been here, I've seen a lot of crazy, funny and serious situations at this place. I was once a consumer here at Boley for seven long years. the people i met were pretty okay i still keep in contact with not even a handful of people I've seen people come and go from Boley the years I was there I've seen people at their day program who were sleeping and some of them had slurred speech and some were just wild and out and just basically out to lunch and some who were cool as a fan and became really good friends of mine, some were rivals in the art world and were fierce competitors, but i came out on top (not trying to brag) . a lot of people here along the way. I've seen people come and go out of here so many times. there is and old saying, " The higher up the mountain you go, you find out who your friends really are..." that is true in every scenario.in any place you are in the world...."you are the TRUE master of your destiny" i drew pictures for them and these people loved my artwork. some of my comrades died and some of us left Boley to go to other cities across Florida and some of them left the state altogether. I still keep in contact with only a small percentage of those that still know me and keep the ones who still inquire about me from finding out where i am, lest that info falls into the wrong hands! BUT i want to give a shout out to the ones who looked after me during my darkest hours: Kelvin Stuart, Gerard Joseph, Beverly Kirkland and Noel Butler. thanks a lot!!! .And To possible future Boley consumers: RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE IF YOU DO THE LEG WORK...
