To see, real human bodies treated with formaldehyde and silicon, it would seem a horror show if it weren't for the fact that they treat everything scientifically and therefore accessible even to small and to the weak of stomach. Beautiful and interesting, it should be expanded and this is why the 4 stars

A must see! Keep in mind that this is nothing for people with sensitive stomachs!
Also, the tour is a bit long if you want to see everything but it's definitely worth the time!
Warning: do not come with bags as they rip you off! They ask for you to keep your bag in a locker (after you have purchased your ticket...) and it costs 2 non-refundable Euros! They do not let you enter the exhibition with a bag...

A weird and wonderful museum, with an in built message of happiness. The museum is well worth the money, but I warn those of the faint heart, that the models are almost all from donors, so you are seeing the real thing.

It was very interesting, obviously you have to be okay with seeing lots of dismembered bodies though. Very informative exhibit explanations and old interactive stuff. Worth a visit if you don't mind dead people and organs.

Quite disturbing for smart people who remember it is an open cemetery but you have to go see it when you go to Amsterdam. We start on the 6th floor to see an open head like a camembert and a dismembered body where we kept only the nervous system, including the brain, to finish in the basement -18 years where corpses slip on. Doctors who have tinkered and charcutered all this must be a tad psychopaths. You have to make your own opinion, but you have to consider it as plastic art or work in the medical field to avoid having your head spinning.

Stunning exhibition, wanted to see several years and finally made it, worth every cent. Gives you really good insight how our bodies work and general idea how we look layer after layer. So many interesting details as well as diet comparison of several different cultures with included price of their week worth of shopping. Recommend.

A very strong experience ... Well thought out ... It is useless to describe it. Words would not be enough to convey the emotions experienced. Death kept alive by "once living" sculptures. Beauty, charm, fear, experience of lives already lived.

This museum is terrible. I literally don t understand why it has so many good reviews. The happiness science is nonsense, at times borderline offensive! The models are bizarre and look fake. Don t go! And it s 20!!!

We really enjoyed learning about the body from the inside out. The exhibits were extremely informative and strangely beautiful. While the entrance fee is a little expensive, this is a one-in-a-lifetime experience and we thought it was worth the price. Two tips: We bought online and didn't know until we were inside that there was an audio guide available, as the front desk staff didn't offer it. Also, we went on a weekday in the morning, and there was a large, noisy school group there, but they moved through fairly quickly. So, we went to the floor below until they arrived there, and then went back up and resumed where we had been.

The exhibition made a rather creepy and at the same time useful impression on me. Looking at plasticized bodies, it is rather terrible to realize that one day you yourself will become a corpse, plasticized or not, it does not matter. At the same time, besides the demonstration of human anatomy, the exhibition provides introductory information on some serious diseases, showing that many of them can be avoided by leading a healthy lifestyle and giving up bad habits. For me, the main idea when visiting was that we all die, but at the same time in our power to make our lives longer and qualitatively better. You must take an audio guide if, of course, you know one of the languages it supports (unfortunately there is no Russian on this list).

Interesting and perhaps somewhat lurid for some people. If you have any interest in or interface with the medical world, this is something you shouldn't miss.
The museum is housed in a traditional Amsterdam multi-storey building. Each floor focuses on a different part of the human body, which is demonstrated with real human bodies or parts thereof.
Hence, this can be a bit creepy for some people.
Because only a limited number of visitors can enter at the same time, you sometimes have to wait until you can enter, or reserve a time (recommended).

A very neat and a very informative tour for all ages. A very interesting experience to really see the inside of our bodies and mechanics involved, it's a kind of beauty in its own right. I would surely recommend it for anyone interested.

+ English / Dutch

+ English / Dutch
+ Airconditioning
+ Enough toilets
+ Good display
+ Audio guide
+ Elevator

- no guide
- no sunlight
- no cafe in the building
- no rest places like chair's
- something double told

Time spend 1+/- hours
Price 20 online with audio guide
Online the price is way better
But still I think it's kinda expensive for what you will see in there
There something not done right
Like some dutch texst missing while in English it is just fine
I got the feeling I was back in school biology class for me it was a refresher for what I have learned ad school with better displays
So if you like biology and chemistry of happiness you have to see it
It's all about how you feel

About BODY WORLDS / Amsterdam EXPO

BODY WORLDS / Amsterdam EXPO: Discover the Secrets of the Human Body

BODY WORLDS / Amsterdam EXPO is a unique exhibition that offers visitors an opportunity to explore the human body in a way that has never been seen before. The exhibition features real anatomical models that have been preserved through a process called plastination, which allows visitors to see the inner workings of the human body up close and personal.

The exhibition was created by Dr. Gunther von Hagens, who developed plastination in 1977 while studying anatomy at Heidelberg University. Since then, he has used this technique to create more than 20 exhibitions around the world, attracting millions of visitors.

At BODY WORLDS / Amsterdam EXPO, visitors can expect to see more than 200 real anatomical specimens on display. These include full-body plastinates as well as individual organs and organ systems such as the nervous system and circulatory system.

One of the highlights of this exhibition is its focus on health education. Visitors can learn about various health issues such as obesity, smoking, and heart disease through interactive displays and multimedia presentations. The aim is to educate people about how their bodies work and how they can take care of themselves better.

Another unique aspect of BODY WORLDS / Amsterdam EXPO is its emphasis on ethics. All specimens used in this exhibition are from donors who have given their consent for their bodies to be used for educational purposes after death. This ensures that all exhibits are respectful towards human life and dignity.

The exhibition also offers guided tours led by experienced guides who provide detailed explanations about each exhibit's significance and relevance to human anatomy.

In addition to its educational value, BODY WORLDS / Amsterdam EXPO also provides an unforgettable experience for visitors looking for something different from traditional museums or galleries. The exhibits are visually stunning with intricate details that showcase just how amazing our bodies truly are.

Overall, BODY WORLDS / Amsterdam EXPO is a must-see attraction for anyone interested in science or health education or simply looking for an exciting day out with family or friends!
