My experience has not been great so far and i always felt service technician was more interested on how much it can be charged than service.
Here is quick summary what i had gone through.
I have 04 745I. I was using gear switch wrongly and used both parking and drive mode same time couple of times. It resulted to get 'transmission fault' message. However, it was coming only when I start the vehicle and then goes out in 2 secs.
Stage 1:
it was taken to dealer and eventually i paid close to $700 with battery replacement and reprogramming of the vehicle. I was told reprogramming helped to resolved the issue and since battery was anyway due to replacement [not sure though] , they changed it.
NOTE: i paid $700.
Stage 2:
after getting the vehicle within 3 weeks, i did same mistake and got same message. I took the vehicle to showroom and here are my surprises:
A. I was told to pay $150 for another diagnostics test. Remember i went there less than a month.
B. I did it and then i was told it did not come anything and i need to pay $600 for additional test. YES, $600 just for additional diagnostics test, NOT repair. They told me repair cost would be different once its diagnosed. I did not do additional test that day.
This was absolutely crazy. Under no circumstances any one should pay $750 just to diagnose the issue.
I was sure it should be simple thing and i was able to connect dots what i was doing and how i got same message. Once i called them and requested for if I can do only 'reprograming', i was told it would cost another $200 and if the issue is not resolved, they can t be accountable for same.
Guess what, I did some research and took my vehicle to another repair store in Nashville who are famous for servicing European car, they have great reviews. They have got all equipment for diagnostic and reprograming any European cars. they are in business for more than 40 years.
Not only they listened me carefully as i explained everything, they reset it and as i expected, they charged me around $90 to reprogram it and everything got resolved. YES, NO FURTHER MESSAGE ON SCREEN AND ISSUE GOT RESOLVED for $90!!!
my entire experience with BMW showroom has been extremely bad, may be its one of that case, however, i felt i was treated more like money machine than BMW user who is looking for great service with reasonable price.
I will probably never go back to BMW of Nashville for any work unless it s the last option.
As of now, I became permanent customer of that shop in Nashville. They are in broadway, downtown.
