Open from sunrise to sunset this place is staright out of the past. A piece of history well preserved. No matter what your opinions are on Mahatma Gandhi, this place has seen so much of the freedom struggle that you will be humbled. Serene and absolutely well maintained. The mechanical Charaka unit and handloom rooms must not be missed. Mr. Prasanth took time to explain the working of the handlooms and made us appreciate just why Khadi is 'expensive'. It's well worth the money. You can either buy the cloth as is or stitched. The teakwood charka models are amazing. If you visit late, make sure you stay for the evening prayers/bhajan. It's surreal. Just as the sun starts to go down, birds chirping to return, evening breeze and the twangs of the tampura. It's a wholesome experience. Do visit!

It is a place where we get inspiring memories of those fighters of pre-independence era when thousands of Indians awakened millons of Indians to get independence from the British and from inequality existing in India on the basis of cast, creed and religion...

Amazing and surreal place. Gandhi built the place ...

Amazing and surreal place. Gandhi built the place himself using local artisans, sustainable building materials and at a cost of Rs.100 in 1936. The place is well marked, and clear boards to describe each and every area. The first meeting gor Quit India movement was initiated in 1942 right here. There is also an on-site spinning and weaving area where one can buy handloom fabrics made right here(which was also a big point emphasised by Gandhiji to end reliance on imported garments). A book store and a school being run on Gandhian principles (Nai Talim) completes the campus. Nearest railway station is Sevagram. A must visit for all !

This is not just an historic place but a place of peace. It feels that the Great freedom fighters where stayed there at some time.
You can see the house built by Gandhiji which costs only Rs. 100 and this is well designed in such a manner that it recevivec fresh air and sunlight in all the rooms.
Apart from this there are many different homes called' kuti 'in which many great leaders like SV patel, Pt. Jawarlal Neheru, vinoba bhave, kumari Amrit Kaur and many.EQUIPMENTS, tools and objects of daily usages of them is also kept by which one can understand the chronology of things.
Gandhiji started school for 6-10th, today also school is under service.
In this same Ashram there is a Cowshed is also.
At the main entrance of Ashram there are shops where you can buy Khadi clothes and many items of daily usages which is produced in Ashram.
There are many things to see and understand here at this.
