this place smells. i feel crazy. there were so many people there and none of them seemed phased by the smell. also the creek that runs through it is very polluted. i feel bad for the people that run this place cuz they clearly do their best but the area is just so polluted & smelly. it's also very loud from whatever machinery is in the distance. visually a very beautiful place and lots of wildlife but all going here did was make me realize our city has a pollution problem. depressing. concerning. smelly.
if i were to donate money to y'all i would want it to go to cleaning the water somehow if that's even possible... not bringing more kids/people here. it doesn't even seem that safe to breath idk..
Bluff Lake is a treasure nestled between Denver and Aurora just west of Peoria and off of MLK Jr. Blvd. It's a great place to find nature in the city! The short loop starts on a bluff on the South side and goes down into a cottonwood grove along the lake itself on the North side. There's a variety of animal life to see from deer, to rabbits, to birds of prey, and water fowl. Whether you're here for the birding, running, or just a place to enjoy being outside, you can't go wrong with Bluff Lake. Pets aren't allowed, so leave your furry friends at home, or next time you're in the area take them to the Sand Creek Regional Greenway or Westerly Creek Park nearby!
What a great free and fun place to visit on a Saturday morning! We enjoyed the Family Scavenger hunt! It took us on an easy (baby stroller) walk through the park with great views and fun play areas for the kids. The nature center staff and volunteers were very friendly and helpful. We were able to rent free equipment for the kids to use. Our children received free t-shirts, pencils, stickers and more. The volunteers had an informative display about nature center wildlife with examples of insects, animal tracks and even had an insect craft for the kids to complete.
Educational due to the informational signs about wildlife, plants and ecosystems. Trashy due to all the trashy humans who cannot properly dispose of their trash and tons of plastic bottles.
Beautiful place to take a little walk. Always a good variety of birds and wetland wildlife on the 1 mile trail. A wonderful example of urban wildlife.
A great place to escape into nature on the border of Denver and Aurora. Great place to see some wildlife.
So much fun! Alot to see and explore. The whole fam had a great time!
Great place for a hike or for a run or just a walk with a friend or family. Very beautiful park and many areas to explore. A lot of wildlife to see as well.
Wonderful wildlife sanctuary that is home to several migrating birds. Lovely views of downtown and the rockies. Gravel trails criss-cross the landscape although the sanctuary proper does not allow bikes. Bring a lock. Weekly bird watching meetups and seasonal migration viewing. Connects to the Sand Creek trail.
