Beware and get a receipt. On 3/9/2025 in a Estate sale in a residential neighborhood in Miami (Coral gate) I bought and paid for an item labeled "side-table" and tagged for $20.00. When I was carrying it out with the help of one of the employees, the owner of the franchise (located in Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale) stopped me and my wife and told us that he was not going to let us take the item because it was worth more that that price. He used the words "I will not argue with you". Although I had paid for it, as evidenced by the fact that an employee was helping me carry it, I did not have a written receipt on hand. I thought of calling the authorities but I had too much to do that day to wait for hours for the police to come. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I wondered if that person was going to tell the property-owner that he had a valuable item or just cart it off for $20.00.
