The lodge was imoacted by the recent forest fires in the area. However, the staff have certainly made a strong comeback. They are extremely hard working and friendly. Will return for the staff alone. An extra is the beautiful location and surrounding natural trails and river

On our trip through South Africa on the Garden route wee had a stop over for one bit in this bashful hide away. The room (I think it was number 8) we had was amazing: lots of space, our own indoor fire place, bathroom with a tube and lots of space, absolutely clean and nicely prepared with some sweets and rolled towels, a personal welcome message and (locally produced) mini soaps as a gift. As we arrived late when it was dark already, we just had a nice dinner with a small but good wine selection. The next day we saw the beautiful nature that surrounds this lodge, although this area had suffered from a big wild fire some 3 years ago I think. Nature is recovering and it was very green when we were there.
Of course you can still see some black remains of trees standing out of the green carpet. When we were told the story from locals and how everyone tried to help the fire brigades we could get a rough impression of how setups this was then and many people died as well then and we could hear the shock it caused. Still, the locals are incredibly friendly and helpful. Staff was always happy to help and explain and answer questions in a very friendly way and always smiling :) enjoyed our stay a lot there and always happy to sound or time there again!

Blackwaters is an amazing getaway spot. The staff are incredibly professional and courteous. To all who stay there, I hope that Winnet, Rejoyce and Gerald are present to make your stay a special one! Lovely gardens with what looks like a very well kept mashie course are just two reasons to keep coming back. The food is real quality and the rooms are very well appointed.

To the Blackwaters River Lodge team: Thank you for making our 50th wedding anniversary such a special occasion. The home cooked lunch was delicious, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the setting was ideal for a big family gathering. If one is looking for a venue for a relaxed, informal function, this is the place to choose. P.S. Their tea and scones are delicious. We often go there for tea.

We where so dissapointed when arriving, only to find that the resturant was not working, only catering for golfers. The setting is wonderfull and recovery from the fire two years ago seems complete and would willingly go back. My advice to mnagement is to update their web site in terms of services offered.

A quiet beautifully situated restaurant surrounded by a small mashie golf course. The food is excellent and although not cheap is very good value for money. A good selection of wines and alcoholic drinks. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL CORNER OF AFRICA

A BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL CORNER OF AFRICA
Blackwaters River Lodge is a leading 3 star country guest lodge on the banks of the Goukamma River with 8 acres of pristine gardens surrounded by indigenous forest. It offers peace, quiet and relaxation. It is 10km from Knysna, 12km from Sedgefield and only 8km from beautiful Buffels Bay Beach and Goukamma Marine Nature Reserve.

It is the only guest lodge in the southern cape with its own mashie golf course. They offer canoeing, swimming pool, bird watching. A rustic eatery, the Earth and Fire Restaurant, serves delicious meals and is open from 9 in the morning to 10 in the evening. It is a fabulous base from which to explore the Garden Route Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay, Plettenberg Bay or Tsitsikamma.

This was our best decision to spend 3 nights out of our SA tour of 10 days. We had booked 4 rooms. The place is by far the best one. The hospitality, the rooms, the services, the welcome we received and the way rooms were decorated. In the backyard, they have a golf course too. This is situated on the bank of a river. The only downside is the water which flows from the tap water is brownish, may be because of water crisis in SA.
We were being told about a major fire somewhere in 2016-17 in which even this lodge was affected. But now, they have revamped the entire thing and had great stay here. Manager did take all the necessary things to ensure our stay remains pleasant and memorable. Special Thanks to the Manager, Winet. Further, they provide a sip of local famous "Sherry" in all the rooms.
There is also a swimming pool.
Must visit and thanks to the supporting staff

During our trip along the south coast of South-Africa we stayed at this lodge for a few days. The location is great! It's by some water. Near a road, but you will never notice anything from the road. It's quite and peacefull. At night it's completely dark because you stay in the middle of nature. We got a torch when we arrived. The rooms are beautifull. There is enough space and the view is breathtaking. It is clean, which is the most important for a place to sleep. The staff is helpful and kind. Especially Gerald has a special place in our hearts. He made our stay unforgettable. In the evening there is a bonfire which will last as long as there are guests enjoying it. Conclusion: great place!

I had the honor to stay for a night with my girlfriend and we were blown away. Zandrea felt like an old friend we met again. Patience and Gerald assisted with the biggest smiles. Noel made the best Kingklip I ever had and the housekeeping of Rejoyce and Sharon was outstanding. Highly recommend. 10 star place.
