Went to the tour and ended at the tavern and wow. This is an amazing place local business for the win. Their alcohol is amazing my favorite is the honey vodka and their piccaron dark rum, amazing flavors and smooth as anything. Highly suggest this place for a date as they often have food trucks and games to play while you drink!

Hands down one of the best distilleries in Maryland. Their products are top notch but more importantly they take their time and do it right. Nothing is rushed. I also love the Maryland history they infuse into all their products. Go in, take a tour, you won't regret it.
Manny gave an informative and enthusiastic tour of the small distillery (Maryland's oldest, established in 2008). We saw their single copper still where they make vodka, rum and whisky with top quality ingredients. The vodka was extremely smooth and the whiskies aged in wine, sherry and port casks were delightful. But our favorites are their rums from cane sugar aged in wine and bourbon barrels. Tasty!
The current facility is at one end of a simple industrial building. They are moving in a coupe of months to a new place where they will have their distillery and dedicated tasting room and outdoor area. We're looking forward to seeing the new place.
Spontaneous weekend trip to Kent Island led to a stop at Blackwater. Got there just as the previous tour was wrapping up and Rocky took great care of us. Excellent tour and you can't beat a $5 tasting! Left with the dark rum, solera rum, and coffee liqueur. Will definitely be back and can't wait to check out the tavern!
Excellent place to grab a beer or mixed drink. They have a fantastic selection of local beers, some hard to find like rare RAR and Burley Oak. Their mixed drinks are also very good. Only negative was the price of their liquor bottles to go. It just seemed a little pricey, but then again, they re small batch locally produced spirits... so you get what you pay for.
It was wonderful,talked to a new couple and developed a new relationship.
Ran into this distillery at a farmers market, nicest wrap I ve ever met! Bought a bottle of the Picaroon and am hooked. Awesome company with great taste!
I took the tour over the Labor Day weekend and it was truly educational and fun especially considering my tour was led by the CEO of the company. Their product was flavorful and well crafted. I purchased the Sloop Betty Honey vodka and using the cocktail recipe given by Chris our tour guide and CEO that was the cocktail of choice for our family cookout that evening. I will be buying more vodka from them in the future. Thanks for an awesome tour and even better vodka. Cheers to Blackwater Distillery!

I"m hesitant to review this tavern because I selfishly don't want it to attract more attention. Blackwater is a real local hidden gem. Just big enough, just friendly enough, just different enough and extremely tasty all for a descent price. The local beer selections are on point and the mixed drinks are top notch (I'd recommend the Chesapeake Mule, Manhattan or Old Fashioned). The food selections are a bit limited but all small establishments face that conundrum and for me it's not enough to stay away.
The grand opening and Chesapeake Bay Education Center fundraiser was a blast! Great drinks, food, music. Lots of fun with a great purpose! Clarified Rum Punch is one amazing cocktail. See picture.
I tried this spot already with my friend and I am hooked ever since. I love the fantastic vibes and delightful dishes and beverages. They never disappoint.
Interesting tour with a tour guide who cracks bad jokes. Good quality spirits. Not much else to do there yet though. Late this year that will change.
Great spot. Plenty of beer on tap and good cocktails. Food vendors are in and out, so check their schedule. They do have some really good salsa and queso at the bar if no one is serving food. We bring the kids all the time and always feel welcome with them.
Honey Crush was really good! They have really good spirits, pretty cool layout with bar and outdoor patio, and the distillery tour is really cool! There is no kitchen there but you can order food from a nearby pizza shop, D'Alessio's, which is okay. Sort of hard to find/get to but definitely worth a visit.

We always pass this place but never stopped. This time we made a concerted effort to stop and check it out. We thought the boat dealer just advertised it but it's actually part of the complex. The place is new and trendy-ish but nothing to write home about. The tasting flight is cheap and they give generous pours, but the rums and vodkas all taste identical to the cheap versions sold anywhere and the whiskey tasted like it wasn't aged at all. The only decent one was the coffee rum which had a smoother flavor. I saw other patrons with food orders and to-go containers but no menu was offered to us. The bartender, though nice and knowledgeable about the liquors distilled there, was more concerned with chatting up the regulars and locals than checking on us. We left after only taking a sip or two of the liquors in front of us and polishing off 2 Cokes to help wash down the liquor we drank even though the aftertaste lingered for the rest of the afternoon. It's obviously a hit with the locals and we wish them great success, but we won't be returning.
Had a great time here. Doesn't look like much from the outside (moving soon to a new location), but the tour was fun and informative, and the tasting was tasty.
I love this place- the drinks, the atmosphere, the outdoor seating, all of it. When the rest of the crowd goes to a dock bar, go here instead!!
Local distillery with several variations of craft whiskeys, rums and vodkas. Finishing Barrel Series of whiskeys are aged in port and sherry casks. Flavored vodkas and runs, even a port barrel aged vodka. Also serves local craft microbrew beers. Food delivery is available. Bottles are available for purchase on site or in local liquor stores.
We had a great visit to this little distillery. It's in a nondescript location but the experience was enjoyable. They have a nice selection of products and the host had a great personality. Schedule a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Finally open! Beautiful space with lots of Md beers, and a full range of cocktails made with Blackwater spirits, of course. BBQ food truck outside. Check it out!

We did a tour and tasting here this afternoon. The tour was very informative. We were able to taste four vodkas, whiskey, and about five different rums. Highly recommend. Blackwater has brought the distillery back to life in Maryland. Looking forward to visiting their new tavern location soon.
