Good service provider hospital.But, some members of the Security Department demanded bribe from the patients with the patients.

The only reason for me to come to BIRDEM was to have my parotidectomy performed under the great Dr. Monwar Hossain sir. I stayed here for 3 nights in Cabin-839. The cabin toilet and bed sheet was filthy. Not good value for the money. Behaviour of some cashiers at counter-22 was disgusting. They probably don't like their job. No complaint about the doctors and nurses, they have been cordial, helpful and serious.

It s a full fledged hospital now it was founded by Dr Ibrahim a renounced doctor of Diabetes.

BIRDEM stands for bangladesh institute of research and rehabilitation in diabetes , endocrine and metabolic disorders. It is located in shahbagh. I recommend this hospital for finest ICU and CCU care.But it is pricy because it is not government funded.Prof Ibrahim started BIRDEM.Now it is the largest private hospital in bangladesh. They provide outdoor, indoor and emmergency care. Everything is disciplined and BIRDEM have all the renowned professor under their umbrella to provide quality health care.

Treatment is good. No doubt about that. But there are some flaws that need to be fixed. Lift operators are too much unprofessional and get annoyed by everything. Nurses are helpful but all the other staffs are bit arrogant and don't know how to behave. Patients or the families form outside of Dhaka may find it difficult to deal with the staffs.

BIRDEM is highly specialized and very popular for health care services in Dhaka, specially for diabeties and other complex diseases for elderly people.

I had visited this hospital for 3 times to admit my father and highly impressed on their staff behaviour, treatment approach, cleanliness. Within its ceiling of charge, its the best hospital in Dhaka.

Located at Shahbag, Dhaka Diabetes is good treatment. There is an outdoor system for low income people.
Their new branch is Ibrahim Cardiac. There again, good heart treatment is being given.

The Diabetic Association of Bangladesh, in Bangla Bangladesh Diabetic Somiti (BADAS), was established on 28 February 1956 in Dhaka at the initiative of the late National Professor Dr Mohammad Ibrahim (1911-1989) and a group of social workers, philanthropists, physicians and civil servants. The Association started an out-patient clinic in 1957 in a small semipermanent structure of about 380 sq ft at Segun Bagicha, Dhaka. Over the years, the clinic has turned into a diabetes care and research complex at Shahbag, Dhaka, which, after the demise of Prof (Dr) Md Ibrahim in 1989, has been renamed as the Ibrahim Memorial Diabetes Centre. In addition, BADAS has about 102 health care facilities all over the country.

BADAS is a nonprofit voluntary socio-medical service organization registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare under the Society's Registration Act, 1860. It is run by a 32 member National Council of which 18 members from the life member category and 6 members from the Affiliated Association category are directly elected by the representative life members and Affiliated Association members respectively in the Annual General Meeting (AGM). One-third of the members (ie 6) from the life member category and 2 from the Affiliated Associations retire every year by rotation and election to those one-third posts is held in every Annual General Meeting of the Association. The elected members elect the Office-Bearers of the National Council from the elected members (life member category).

Doctors are good. Services are pretty better. But the place is too much crowded

This is the biggest diabetic hospital in Bangladesh. For diabetic patients any sorts of treatment, operation and all types of problems this hospital is best. Their service is very good. But this hospital jas too much rush of patients. Every single day very early in the morning there is a big queue of diabetic patients for diabetic check up. In Bangladesh every division need this type of hospital.

It's designed only for the doctors of the institution.
The environmental here is favourable for study.
But they should open the opportunity for outsider.
As outsider we are paying 50taka per day.
That is very costly.

The bed is very bad, but, there is no management to lock the door

The very first hospital made for diabetic patients in town. It might have been the best long time back, but now it is very poorly managed. The treatment quality is okay, but the level of hygiene and cleanliness went deep down. People will bound of have food poisoning after eating at the canteen for sure. Some nurses behave really rude with the patients, which is not acceptable at any point.

The Government nominates 3 ex-officio members representing the Ministries of Finance, Health and Family Welfare and Social Welfare. The members nominated by the Government must be in the rank of at least a Joint Secretary.

The National Council meets at least once in a month and reviews the activities of the Association. It takes decisions on policy matters, budget and finance, planning and development. The executive power of the National Council is vested with the Secretary General who runs the different institutions through respective Board of Management with the help of the Treasurer and BADAS Secretariat.

The emergency section (on the right side by the entrance) is an absolute chamber of hell. Not enough staff to handle the critical patients entering the hospital. Think twice before taking anyone in critical condition here, as there is a high chance they'll die right on the spot due to their inadequacy and negligence. Also, you'll be lucky to get admittance to their ICU, since most of the time they'll tell you that they don't have any space available in their ICU and so they'll refer you to go to a private clinic where they receive commission for referral.
