Very interesting place. Specific from bio-zoo point of a view. Guides are very friendly and knowledgeable .This facility at the time was researching whole planet/human kind level field and was secret. Kids friendly, wheelchair/disabled access to majority of buildings.Souvenier shop with friendly prices. When my other little one will get a bit older, will visit this place again. Plan on spending 3-6 hours at least, very interesting for kids and any adult.

Was an interesting tour. Started out as an interesting project for the center, but recent events and renovations to the facility were disappointing. Great environment to bring children to learn about environmental science.

Amazing and informative. Encouraging to see serious science focused on preserving our planet and making other worlds habitable. Would have never thought that eating just a little less beef and pork could significantly help reduce CO2 emissions.

We had a Groupon for a visit here and it was definitely well worth it. The guide was very knowledgeable and both the past history and the current research usage of the facility are very interesting. The walking tour takes a little over an hour. If you have any mobility issues, be prepared that there is a lot of walking and quite a few stairs.

Great tourist attraction year round. The tours unfortunately dismiss much of the original work that the biosphere was built for, and many of the guides seem poorly educated about the facility, but still a fascinating place to visit.

What a fantastic experience. Everyone should take the drive to southern Arizona to visit the Biosphere 2. Parts of the tour is not wheel chair accessible, so sorry. You also need to be comfortable and able to walk for about 1-2 miles. Not certain of the distance but we did alot of walking. It was worth it. There is an entrance fee and a small discount for students, with ID.

So disappointing that this amazing facility is not being utilized for what it could do (grow food and be an active, productive, interactive facility) and is visibly unkempt and in a state of needed repairs and upkeep. I found it to be a project that COULD be but isnt. Has so much potential, but falls short to barely hanging in there. Used for private research only. Tours are to generate enough funds to barely keep it going. Once was enough.

Was awesome! Due to covid alot of the normal exhibits were closed down, but they are working on opening them up, the staff was super friendly and helpful. There are a handful of the exhibits still open, and definitely worth it!

Honestly it is pretty cool here. One of the few places in the Tucson area you see flowing water and green grass. There is a lot of standing so if your are older you may tire easy but they do have benches throughout the tour. It is also a nice escape during the summer from all of the heat. Apparently though it's fairly dead at the moment (though I couldn't tell) from experiments seeing how they could destroy the climate. Still super cool though. A must see in Tucson.

Very interesting experiments they had going, history and future of the biosphere are worth knowing about when it comes to learning about its impacts. Some facilities were out of order or inaccessible, but its staff were helpful.

Very cool place. I expected a tour of an outdated facility from when the experiment ended on 1994 but its still a very active research facility. The tours are a bit pricey so look for discount coupons. Still the funds are for a good cause. The guides we had were informative and interesting. Expect to be here 3+ hours.

I will start this review by listing what people said in negative reviews and give my humble opinion why they are idiots.

1) "tour guide spoke to us like 10 year olds, yea we know plants give off carbon dioxide" - well miss phD in biology, plants give off oxygen when they absorb carbon dioxide. So maybe the "dumbing down" of the tour was meant for people like you who missed fifth grade biology. The tour was meant for the general public and therefore catered to all ages and educational levels sorry if that bugged you.

2) "the tour was hot, and there were stairs" - oh you mean a giant glass building in the middle of the desert with a rainforest and desert ecosystem was hot? That sounds horrible I hope you never go anywhere outside again because God forbid you might encounter stairs or a temperature change.

3) "the tour guide kept spouting their beliefs about climate change" - you mean the facts about climate change? I know the person who wrote that won't get this far into the review because they obviously cannot read. scientific evidence and facts from thousands of scientists that's have been published over years of climate research is negligible to you because some racist politician told you that it doesn't exist.

The tour was fun, painless, saw awesome plants and engineering technology, and if you are smart enough to use modern technology such as groupon can get tix for 14 bucks instead of 20.

On a final note if you really drive 4 hours to the desert to see something, you better make sure it's Jurassic Park crazy good, or accept that a simple day trip to a cool facility might fall short of your dramatic expectations.

Interesting site to see. Our guide was very good, was pleased to answer questions that came up. This place is the only one of its kind in the world! Also, Groupon often has a deal on admissions here. Plenty of parking with shade from trees.

The tour was incredibly interesting! I would definitely recommend you go on the tour so you can hear some of the "insider" information. This is a must see if you are passing through the area! There is also a student discount.

Tour time, tour time, tour time. Lots of people drive a long way to see this place only to find out tour times are limited. On their website is says top of the hour every hour except when it is busy. Well we don t know when that would be. We are from Idaho and went a long ways down there and upon arrival they said the next tour wasn t for an hour and a half. You can buy tickets online before but not for a specific time slot, I wish that could change so you didn t have to roll the dice. Aside from that hiccup the tour was great. Our tour guide was great, Funny and informative. The tour was just over an hour but they say you can leave at anytime if needs be. Truly an amazing building with incredible history. Any horticulturist, or engineer would love this place. Bring your walking shoes.

Pretty boring and not worth the drive. We had a robotic tour guide with no personality and our head phones were picking up employee conversations from what I assume to be them on break, talking bad about previous groups. Eaves dropping on their complaining was the most interesting part if the day! Because of their chatter in our ears my husband missed our guides warning of a low door frame ahead and cracked his head on the door jam!

A true wonder of the world! I fell in love with this gem. It was such a cool learning experience and sight to see. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone who is close enough to make the drive. Go early to fight the crowds and beat the heat. No need to worry about Parking though, there is a very large lot.

Only none five star review I have. Mostly because it is so filled with lies and mystery. Tour was weak, bc the founder has forbidden the real stories from coming out. Pod cast "nice try" was awesome. Had a great time, would I drive to AZ to see it.... No way..... I would definitely attend another wedding there.

The concept and history are exciting as is some of the current soil research that's just beginning. The tour seemed relatively superficial and we were glad to have gotten it off Groupon at a discount. The facilities are in a state of semi-disrepair and appear underutilized. It was very serene and the surrounding views are beautiful. Feels like the money spent on the tour is going to a good cause. The ocean and rainforest appear to be in need of new research projects.

First time visiting the bioshpehre it was an excellent birthday gift. The tour was informative and entertaining. It's truly amazing what science and inquisitive minds can put together. I will surely be back soon.

Wonderful insight into a human experiment! Interesting experimentation on such a large scale that replicates the changes that are currently occurring and can occur within our environment in the coming years! Amazing! Looking forward to the research outcomes!

Very interesting place. But the upsetting part is how they have let it go down hill over the last several years. The ocean display has been neglected for to long. The biosphere was much more impressive years ago.

Fascinating! I always wondered what had happened with the info they got from the experiment of people living there for 2 yrs in the 80's. Understand the info can be used for developing habitation in space.. . . maybe Mars? Also did not know a university had taken it over and is now studying global warming.

It's a decent experience for kids and families. Would strongly NOT recommend for anyone with disabilities (even the modified tour) lots of walking, steep and narrow paths, some areas required ducking. Very warm and humid inside. Got stuck in the elevator.
