Bad work experience. Extremely pretentious environment. Exhausting rhythms. Physically heavy and psychologically stressful work methodology. I started my experience in Biofarma, in the Mereto di Tomba office, after a long research that lasted months. So a few days after the interview they got me started. The work is spread over three shifts. The timetable is 6-14, 14-22, 22-6 with two breaks (one of 15 and one of 30 minutes) and with weekly alternation: a whole week is worked the morning shift, one in the afternoon and one at night with frequent overtime on Saturdays. From what I had been put through at the interview and even inquiring independently, I thought I would find a much less pretentious environment and a much more enjoyable, less complex and absolutely less stressful type of work. Instead, I immediately realized that I ended up in a context immersed in a police state. At the slightest mistake he recovered and at the slightest lack he was reprimanded by his superiors. Once eg. I happened to check the lot of aloe bottles, leaning with my elbows on the quality control table to cool down my back, while the machine had stopped for a hitch and I was immediately picked up by the supervisor in an authoritative tone, telling me that I had to stand up and lean nowhere. You have to run like crazy at very high rates and not make mistakes or miss even the smallest nonsense. The work, at least in the department where I was employed (liquid supplements) turned out to be much more complicated and complex than I thought. I also took the trouble to retrieve a notepad on the advice of my colleagues in order to remind me of everything there is to know as it takes mechanical, plumbing and even computer skills to master the software that controls the machines, which systematically jam, thus making the work hell instead of simplifying it. It is a mammoth job where there are an infinite amount of things to learn, to understand and to manage including complex packages of cards, graphics and lots to be filled in with the utmost precision. It is not in fact a simple factory, but a middle ground with large retailers. The comparison with Amazon comes spontaneously. In the end, therefore, instead of carrying out a single task, we find ourselves having to keep up with ten other things with the claim that everything is done at high rates and in a precise way. You live under constant pressure and are constantly under observation for everything. Being behind the high rhythms of the machines (which I repeat, they jam continuously) is a nightmare and you have to practically become automatons. It is also physically demanding and heavy due to the considerable loads to be moved: at the end of the day I would return home full of pain everywhere (feet, legs, back) but also in the ears and head due to the PPE to wear (earplugs and headset). In my opinion, they should hire more staff in order to streamline the work and not oblige an employee to carry out the task at this rate that should be managed by at least two / three people. As for me, I do not question that I have had some shortcomings in a month and a half. But one cannot be expected to learn such a complex job or to remember everything there is to remember in such a short time. In the end I was also getting into gear, but despite everything, my contract was not renewed without any warning. At least a minimum of notice would have been appreciated, since the decision not to renew me had already been taken by the superiors for several days who, during the last week, have not even updated the time card for my shift. A little more communication, some feedback or some report on my performance would have been very welcome, in order to make a common decision in the eventuality.
