i practiced for the first time last february and i was frustrated at first because the changing rooms are small, and the practice was difficult. The passion the teachers have an undeniable passion for what they do and help you work up from where you are, not the entire class. Coming here has actually changed my lifestyle for the better. I love it

The instructors at Bikram Yoga Grand Central are incredible; however, the one star is because of owner Denise Nann, whose lack of professionalism and overt breach of contract have earned her 3 Better Business Bureau complaints just in the first 6 months of 2013 (the organization, with which, she is not accredited) and now, a 4th.

I was a devoted member of Bikram Yoga Grand Central, having started attending in Spring 2012. I wanted to increase my devotion to the practice and to the business in January 2013. So, I signed an agreement with Bikram Yoga Grand Central on January 15, 2013, authorizing six automatic debits from my checking account in the amount of $140 for monthly membership at the studio. The first authorization commenced on that day.

Per our contract, six automatic debits in the amount of $140 is to be in effect for the following months:

1. January
2. February
3. March
4. April
5. May
6. June

On June 15, I let Jeanine (no longer with Bikram Yoga Grand Central) that I will be moving to Germany on June 30th. Since the agreement covered the aforementioned months, Jeanine advised me that this automatic debit will automatically cease.

On July 15, 2013, I noticed a seventh debit of $140 from my account. I called Bikram Yoga Grand Central from Berlin, Germany, in order to advise the business a second time that this automatic debit is to cease per our contractual agreement. At this point, Bikram Yoga is in arrears $140 payable to me. I was advised that this problem would be sorted and the $140 refunded to the authorized account.

Today, August 15, 2013, I notice a second $140 charge to my checking account that constitutes a second violation of our contract. Instead of apologizing and helping me solve this problem as is customary in business (myself a lawyer and banker), Denise hung up on me and made a threat to not solve my problem if my tone did not meet her standards.

I feel disrespected by Denise's disregard for my business and loyalty to her. As such, the only course of action has been to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, advise my bank that Bikram Yoga Grand Central disregards consumer contracts, and file legal proceedings if Denise continues to deny my right to be heard as a once loyal customer of her business.

All very sad, in my opinion, as the instructors are truly worth it. It's MUCH better to just buy class packages (10 at a time) so you do not have to learn the hard way that Denise is no businesswoman.

I started coming to BYGC using a Gilt City deal. Because of the deal the traffic has been extremely heavy at the 6/6:30 classes. If you don't like getting up close and personal with your yogi neighbors - this place isn't for you.

A lot of variety among the instructors but all of them have been good. They open the door to let cool air in periodically during the class which is something my old studio didn't do - and while you're in there it's much appreciated it does sort of take away from the HOT part of bikram.

I've been to yoga classes all over New York and Chicago. This one was one of my least favorites. The instructor went through the standard Bikram poses. She seemed to like calling people out in the class which I find off-putting.

I started my first month over at the Bikram Yoga Grand Central and my second time doing the class I had to leave early. The instructor gave me a hard time, and said it is mandatory to stay the entire class but he will allow it the one time. He was rude and had an attitude. After I called the studio to talk about this issue, the studio owner Denise, was very unpleasant also, she told me to come prepared for 90 minutes or not to come at all. Overall, very poor customer service. After this month I am not going to return there. I am paying for the class and I will not be told when I can or cannot leave. Absolutely redic. Also, the locker rooms are tiny, the studio smells bad, it's way too crowded and staff has a bad attitude. I give it an F !!

Crowded classes are because the instructors are great. Studio is very clean and to be honest, kind of defeats the purpose of yoga if you are concentrated on someone being too close to you. I've had some of my best classes when its super crowded because of the great energy in the room. Everyone is super nice here.

I am writing a review as the first one that pops up on my screen is so negative and I have to counterattack! Bikram Grand Central has a very friendly staff and the attendees are very supportive of the practice. The instructors are all A quality, and my favorite instructor Joseph Encinia teaches here. Night time classes are packed, but so is every other yoga and fitness facility at that time in the UES. The flooring is my only complaint - I find it slippery in triangle pose, but accept it as part of the challenge of the practice. The locker rooms are small and I prefer to shower at home when possible because of this. Namaste, KristinG
