Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County: Creating One-to-One Youth Mentoring Relationships
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community since 1966. The organization's mission is to create and support one-to-one youth mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. By providing children with positive role models, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County aims to help them achieve their full potential.
The organization's programs are designed to match children between the ages of 6 and 18 with adult volunteers who serve as mentors. These mentors provide guidance, support, and friendship to their mentees, helping them develop important life skills such as self-confidence, decision-making, and problem-solving.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County offers several different mentoring programs to meet the needs of its diverse community. The Community-Based Mentoring Program matches children with adult volunteers who spend time together in the community doing activities they both enjoy. The School-Based Mentoring Program pairs children with adult volunteers who visit them at school during lunch or after school hours.
In addition to its mentoring programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County also offers a variety of other services designed to support families in need. These services include parenting classes, counseling services for parents and children, and referrals for other community resources.
