Formidable collection center for books and consultation, enhancement and study. An incredible number of incunables, five hundred, printed books from 1461 enrich the Milan and national library heritage. Private funds donated and acquired make the library even more unique, expanding its shelves of manuscripts and parchments. Silent halls with precious chandeliers and shelving in sight full of texts from every where they inspire reverence and arouse joy in the eyes. A courteous employee provided brief and comprehensive historical information on the library and its funds. Thank you

I have lived near Milan for many years and I had never been to Braidense ... When I entered I said to myself: "Now I will stop here! I sleep there ... I will never go out!" Just a pity the terrible heat .... but otherwise .... A wonderful experience!

We only found this beautiful library thanks to our With Locals guide. It is well worth looking out. The courtyard to the building is stunning and walking through the corridors of classrooms full of students is an experience. Up the stairs we found the library, a peaceful and calm place full of old books and often a temporary exhibition.

An ancient library, sumptuous and of great charm. Being a national library, it has lots of books that you would hardly find anywhere else. Entering, one relives the magic of past times, and breathes the culture that emanates from the enormous walls of books of every era.

It is the oldest library in Milan. One just comes in is amazed. It is located near the Brera metro. It is easy to reach. To get books on loan, you need to make the card with the passport photo. Ample space to study and consult.

Very old library, a bit like the feeling in Harry Potter movies, it is estimated that some books are more than 100 years old. Keep your backpack with you, and enter the reading room to register at the door. I don't know if there is a problem with WIFI today, I can't register, I can't get online.

This library is a very fascinating place, it almost seems to be in an Oxford (miniature) library. There is the possibility to register and to borrow books for 30 days. The choice is very wide and I also managed to find university texts, as well as recently published novels. The portal on which to make reservations is rather uncomfortable and out of date, you have to struggle a bit. If you book from home the day before, going the next day, the desired book is ready. If, on the other hand, you book from the PCs in the library, you have to happen in the right time slot: there is an employee who goes to get the books you book every 30 minutes or so, so there is the risk of having to wait a bit. To access the library you must first go to the lockers, where you have to leave the bag or backpack you have with you, and this is a big drawback: if you go there to study and you have many books, notebooks and maybe even a pc, you have to carry them in your arms up to the table. In addition, there are not many seats, so if you want to be sure of finding a place, you need to arrive around the opening hours.

One of the most beautiful libraries in existence. It looks a lot like the Hogwarts library from the Harry Potter series. You get there after having made a flight of very uncomfortable steps. But to enter you need to leave your bag or backpack in a locker. The library is super equipped. The only flaw is that only two books can be borrowed at a time. This could be changed !!! Many times they host very interesting temporary exhibitions. Highly recommended.

well-stocked library with books in perfect condition and rarely available in other libraries,
the staff, with the exception of rare exceptions on the part of young zealous operators, is a shameful boor
especially the mature female staff over the years who still speak with a southern dialect
it stinks of ancient recommendations, doesn't it?
another detail that infuriates me is seeing the staff behind the loan desk tinkering with personal tablets and iPhones during working hours

Well stocked library, you can find practically every book. The only drawback is represented by the bureaucracy: to access the book loan you need a specific card with photos, you need to deposit the backpacks in lockers that close only with one euro coins.

The place is beautiful, but the chairs are not comfortable. It's good for those looking for a silent library of their own and without people talking to each other. A very rare thing in Milan at least.

Hidden gem of Brera Academy. Can be visited only in specific days when is open to the public and not only to students. The four centuries old library has an interesting history. The manuscripts and the old books are visible on the shelves, during exhibits part of them are exposed to the public.
Highly recommended to book lovers and librarians.

A dream location where you can read or study in perfect peace. The wifi works well so that even with the computer there are no problems. A little inconvenient is the fact that you have to leave the bags in the lockers.

You have to leave the backpacks outside and carry the stuff by hand. The tables are high, there are few sockets, the chairs are uncomfortable, and the wifi doesn't work well. Also, in summer there is a crazy heat, there is no air conditioning and I have never seen fans. The context of the Pinacoteca di Brera is very fascinating. Not recommended, better looking for somewhere else to study.

I went to study at the library. I couldn't get wifi access, this was a little set back. However, I still thought the library was magnifico! I was able to study well without distractions and in complete silence. I will definitely return again.
I did not have time to have a look at the books.
PS: Bring any ID card with you,it will be needed. I had my passport.
