Great, must see! Great to walk around and see a lot
Only interesting if you take a tour. The explanation via signs is more than insufficient, especially with the aircraft.
Very nice area but unfortunately only very limited access, especially during breeding season.
From mid-March to mid-August ........
I was today for the latest exhibition about WW2. It seems like a trend, but many "new style" exhibitions are characterized by very dark spaces, dim lighting and minimal signs with descriptions, which were also difficult to read by the colors (gray on black), the spot (often low) and the very dim lighting. Photos and cards were actually indistinguishable.
It seems to me that many elderly people come here with this topic. Anyone with poor eyesight would better miss this exhibition. A missed opportunity.
I was stationed there 1882-1985. The place will always b there in my heart
Beautiful museum for young and old, well-organized and regularly with nice extras
Nice museum, also for children, lots to see and learn for the children. Recall some memories of my military service for myself. Museum to visit more often, we cannot make it in a day because of the outdoor activities.
Not much is left of the old base. But it does say the NMM.
A fascinating military museum from the mace to the missile and everything in between to kill each other.
Exhibits and explanations are well done and engaging.
Much interactive and there is even an app with which you can do a scavenger hunt.
Nice museum. Informative. Very friendly staff who are willing to give a lot of information about the museum. Lots of explanation with the museum pieces.
Great well-designed way of defending from antiquity to now beautiful museum for young and old
Ripoff. When they need your money, like at the museum, everything is clear and signposted.
But when you want to walk or cycle around the area, nothing is signposted, roads and cycle paths just stop, entrances and exits are not marked, and half the route is closed for months on end because of breeding season. Mind you, this is a new construction and it would have been easy to make cyclists feel welcome. Now you have to find your way around Soesterberg and Huis ter Heide with never a signposted path to be found. Utter idiots.
Impersonal and chilly museum, hospitality seemed like a company canteen and no idea what was available.
Beautiful museum with international allure. Beautiful real planes and halls with film and models about the Netherlands. Very large site / nature area that radiates a lot of history.

Here is the most beautiful bike path of NL. After years this area has been an airport can now occasionally over old airstrip bike or walking. Unfortunately, though very limited, because after years of helicopter and jet violence seem to have suddenly suffer a few birds of a few cyclists and walkers.
I was stationed there from May 1978 thru October 1980. Love place and people
National aviation days, very well organized, lots to do for children and adults.
Very educational in a relaxing and beautiful environment. Recommended. Free parking. Where do you get that
Very nice museum with a lot of attention for impressive presentations. Gates at the restaurant are disturbing. What was also a shame is that many projectors are not maintained. As a result, you sometimes see double-sided transitions (especially difficult for texts) and the image is sometimes so out of focus that texts are not legible. There is a lot of staff, but apparently nobody is paying attention to such details.
Furthermore, just a lot to do. In one day you do not really get to see the whole museum, so we'll definitely come back again.
Large air force base near Amsterdam, there is also a very good military museum, which is highly recommended. See National Military Museum
We have been able to entertain ourselves here for a considerable time. On the way back from a weekend away we wanted to stretch our legs. The sun had just broken through so it was a shame not to use it. Whoever likes the army, airplanes and everything that has to do with this, can pick up his heart here. Not only is the location beautiful, the museum too.
Fantastic museum very interesting! It's worth taking a look ;-)
nice area for walking or cycling. something that unfortunately a large part of the year cannot do due to a few breeding birds. fighter jets took off here for years and now those birds suddenly suffer from a few cyclists and walkers. In the meantime, there is also a building site next to one, which apparently doesn't bother those birds again
Beautiful spatially decorated museum. For the whole family. Too little time. Not even outside.
NMM a beautiful museum a day is not enough to see everything
Wonderful Air Base. Enjoyed the time there and the beautiful area
I was sent to Camp Amsterdam to teach the U.S. airmen a corrosion control course in 1975. Brought my family with me from RAF Lakenheath UK and tent camped in a local grounds during the two weeks I was teaching. From there we went on leave and tent camped for five weeks all through Europe down to Italy covering most of Europe before heading back to England. We enjoyed Holland and especially remember Maduradam. Beautiful and very clean country.

The National Military Museum is here: http: virtualtours.nl/nmm/
Very nice big open area. Very quiet and you can cycle on the run way!
History of the first airport in the Netherlands and National Military Museum are located here.
Very spacious museum, beautiful area around it and fantastic views. There are many old vehicles of all shapes and sizes as well as airplanes, helicopters you name it. Highly recommended if you are interested in the wars or the vehicles that were used.
Beautiful area for walking / running and cycling. Beautiful routes such as old storage bunkers. Outside the bird breeding season you can enter the runway.
A visit behind the scenes is recommended with a guide of the Utrecht landscape
This was the runway.
nice picture!!
Real stories in a sober Dutch way. A beautiful large and dignified museum that fortunately has not lost the personal touch by the veterans after the new building.
Nice cycling area. Pay attention to whether it is accessible because of nesting birds.
Beautifully varied terrain with something for everyone to see. Also for the little ones.
I live in Soest and regularly walk / walk here for hours through the beautiful nature.
Beautifully reclaimed nature reserve, around an interesting military museum. Upon arrival, parking for free, you will immediately notice a collection of tanks and flyrups. Gliders depart and land in the background. The playground equipment built in style is great fun for the kids. Walking through you enter beautiful forests and heaths where you can sometimes also see a deer or even a fox. Recommended.
Nice informative and interactive museum with enough entertainment for children. Restaurant available for something to eat.
Highly recommended.
Beautiful and educational museum. Spacious setup. Acquisition for the Netherlands
A really nice museum, lots to see and interesting for everyone.
Beautiful military heritage. Area has been redecorated, much has been closed off for birds. Runway closed from 15 March to 15 August.
These are the results of the search for the best army airport
Very nice frame nice collection of military equipment
It is a pity that everything is so full with fences and prohibition signs. Free roaming around in such a beautiful area is not an option.
Love Camp Amsterdam did my second PME there A.K.A. NCO Academy in 1992
Worked as a sergeant 1 nurse at the military airbase until 1996. That was at the WS camp and at building 10 at the airbase itself. It is now a beautiful and special nature reserve.
Beautiful museum. Much more than just planes. The coffee corner is also recommended.
Very enchanting place to be. Now that the planes are gone and the terrain has been "handed back" to nature, all sorts of wildlife are now calling this home. When you go here at dusk or dawn you'll see deer on the ex-runways. And in the spring you will hear the constant twitter of the near extinct field lark. Added to that there is plenty of urban exploring to be done during the times that excursions are organized to visit some of the bunkers, the traffic tower, the ammo storage and of course the hangars. Keep an eye out on the website of Utrechts Landschap for the special events that are organized.
Beautiful aerea for walks and tours past old hangars and bunkers since it's open tot the public. The national military museum on the former airfield is also an interresting place to visit.
