Best Western Hotel Pierre Review

I usually stay here when I'm in Wakefield. Although the rooms may be a little in need of an update, they are clean and comfortable, even if the beds are very low. I had dinner here for the first time the other day and I was very impressed. Breakfast is always good and the staff are excellent. They do need to sort out their wifi though, its currently terribly unreliable and I do need to have wifi access to be able to work in my room.

What we really liked was the service.
The hotel / room does its job in terms of cleanliness.
The 2 star rating based on: - Flushing the toilet only worked very poorly.
- only about half of the lights in the room worked.
- Unfortunately something was buzzing in front of our room all night, probably a ventilation or something like that.

Atrended a wedding reception here, staff were polite and courteous at all times and ensured that waits werent too long at the bar.

Simple, clean and warm. The deco could be refreshed

Great rooms, beds a little too low and soft. Breakfast brought to the room which was helpful on an early start. Bar area was nice and pleasant

So unorganized and if there's more than 6 people you'll struggle to get your meal served in a decent time

Very good service, competitive pricing and clean and tidy rooms. The location was very convenient for our short stay and a meeting place for the people coming to see us.

Great friendly staff. Ample free parking. Building/rooms and facilities a little tired. Excellent breakfast. Well located for access and attractions in the local area.

I attended a wedding reception here and had a great time, the place was well presented and the staff were friendly.

Can't recommend this place enough. Excellent value for money. Food is of a very high standard indeed. OK so the rooms and decor is a little outdated and a tad tired but it all works and the place is lovely and warm. The hotel has plenty of character unlike other 'premier'/'lodge' chains which are completely soulless. The staff are fabulous and can't do enough for you. Will be back!!

We booked the valentines offerr, which included evening 3 course meal, overnight stop and breakfast. We enjoyed everything the service you receive from all the staff such a credit to the hotel management. I was married in this hotel 3 years ago and love going back whenever we can

It is a beautiful hotel. Totally wheelchair accessible. Lovely food and drinks which I thought were expensive. Staff where friendly and helpful. The venue room where our friends got married was beautiful.

Well run hotel in attractive location. Easy free car parking. Very helpful and friendly staff. Stayed over on Sunday. Restaurant not open but bar alternative good. Breakfast on Monday cooked to order plus range of cereals, toast, etc

I had my wedding there five years ago and we still go for a meal and a stay over all the staff are excellent wot a credit to mel and her team

Visit here regularly. Lovely location. Looks a little tired & could do with a mini refurbish just to spruce it up a little.

The hotel would get 5 stars but the noise was unbearable... very thin walls and no strippers on doors so they slam everytime someone goes in or out their rooms...

Lift was out of order rooms were scruffy and frackly didn't look like they have been cleaned, staff were absolutely horrible, they had no respect for any one at all, and were really rude. Definitely won't be going back ever again, rather stop on the streets

Nice hotel with ample parking, rooms clean and tidy, bed really comfortable, good quality evening meals and good full English breakfast. Staff all very friendly and helpful, an enjoyable couple of nights away, thank you

Groupon deal evening meal, bed and breakfast. Double bed was more like Queen size! Very clean and lift to floors 1 & 2. Food very very good and parking on site is free.

Went to a Christmas party night 09.12.17 and the food was cold and bland the worst I had ever had at a party night the room was cold with guests wearing coats to eat their food complained on the night emailed the manager and complaints with no response so customer service is rated zero

Wanted to say a big thank you to Melanie and the staff at the St Pierre. We held our annual cycling club dinner on the 15th March. From arranging the date in January Melanie ensured everything was covered, table decorations, DJ, seating plan etc. The food was great and everyone had a fantastic time.

Was thete for Cousins wedding reception. Everything was perfect, cannot fault anything.

Very helpful & friendly staff. Clean rooms and excellent breakfast.

Even after paying up front they demand a deposit on a debit or credit card. Otherwise the hotel was ok.

I stay here whenever I am visiting family in the area.
Always a clean and comfortable room and the staff are extremely helpful , pleasant and friendly.

Friendly staff but beds and pillows were rock solid. Breakfast was good on Saturday morning as it was cooked fresh but Sunday's buffet breakfast was awful. Everything was overcooked.

nice clean spacious rooms reasonably priced drink and food .. my only issue is the breakfast ... always waiting for bacon , sausage and eggs so waiting for a long time .. nothing to do with staffing but completely down to size of room and amount of guests !..

Next to beautiful park and rooms spacious. Dining room could be fully booked with functions but bar food available. Not a fan of all-in-one body shampoo . Staff very obliging and parking easy.

Very comfortable room in a lovely village about 5 miles outside the town centre. There are a couple of pubs in walking distance, a cafe and a restaurant. The area is really nice. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

Although the bedrooms etc are rather tired, all is forgiven when they serve beautiful, juicy, delicious duck and perfectly cooked steaks. The staff are lovely, they put you at your ease and are very efficient. All visitor areas are perfectly clean. We visited for an occasion and all went superbly. Thank you one and all.

Stayed 1 night over Xmas period didn't look after the staying guests

We held our Wedding at the hotel..ceremony ,reception & evening party in October .
From the first time of enquiring within the hotel ..right through to the big day ..the service was fantastic. Mel the wedding co-ordinator was first class giving us a vast array of options & ideas...& always available by phone for questions & alterations along the planning process.
Mel & all the hotel staff were so attentive throughout the whole day..making us & our guests feel relaxed & just enjoy the day.
The food was spot on ..with guests making comments on the standard of it.
The room turn around was seemless & what a transformation !!..The evening was fantasic with Richard the resident D.J one of the best i have encountered!!
All in all we had a very special day without a single problem..all thanks to the team at St Pierre.
Many thanks to you guys...you did us proud.

Lovely hotel.
Good atmosphere.
Only downside was lack of a/c in the bedroom

Fair size car park. Large Room with card upgrade. Both breakfast and evening meal offered a reasonable number of choices and was of good quality

Was at the hotel for a wedding. The food for the wedding was ok and the service at the bar was as you would expect.

Came here for a xmas party.

Staff - The duty mangeress (KIM) was unhelpful and rude. When it was explained that there was no sauce for the seafood starter. She stated that she had asked everyone if their meal was ok. It was explained to her that she did not. She disputed this despite our entire table stating differently. Several guests commented on her personality and her general aggressive manner. She is not a good ambassador for the hotel unless of course they want to alienate customers..

Food - The food served during the Christmas meal was average. The seafood starter did not have any dressing and was dry to taste. I ordered the cheesecake was easy to see that it had been made by the Hotel and was smothered in artificial cream.

Bar - We arrived in the bar area at 7.30pm and were informed that they had no Gin glasses and no straws. Considering there were 200 plus visitors to the hotel for various xmas parties, you would have expected the hotel to be more prepared. especially so early in the evening.

Rooms - The appeared clean. I shared the room with my wife but there was only 1 large towel and 1 hand towel and no flanel. The shower gel holder did not allow you to depress successfully the shower gel, which meant you had to somehow pull it out from its holder to get sufficient gel to wash yourself.

I emailed the CEO my review and I am still awaiting a response???

Attended a works Christmas meal here so only experienced the drinks and food. Bar had a reasonable selection of drinks but was quite expensive, food was disappointing.

Quite adequate, however certain staff members left something to be desired

Decor looks like it belongs in the 70s, creaky bed and no internet

A lovely hotel, lovely helpful staff, ideal location plenty of parking. The room was spacious but we did have to manage a few stairs and the shower was over the bath. The food was lovely and breakfast was cooked fresh to order.

I had stayed in the twin bedroom with my work colleague and we checked in at 6am after a long shift at work. I went to use the bathroom and quickly learned that the bathroom door was not locking despite several various attempts by me and my colleague at trying to lock the door. Due to this I reported the problem to the receptionist at 6:30 AM and I requested that the maintenance staff come to inspect the door close to check out time (1PM) due to a small amount of time to sleep. This seemed like the best option as hotels are used to sleep in however the mainenence staff arrived at 7 AM when I was already asleep. My colleague then woke me up and I told the staff to come back later as my time to sleep was suffering (as I previously requested over the phone). My human rights and privacy has held no value to this hotel and my colleague also almost walked in on me whilst I was showering. I had to use a bath mat and towel to keep the door shut and I hope no one has the same treatment as I have received from this poor quality hotel as I am reluctant to stay here, ever again. If I could give a 0 stars instead of 1staf I believe it would be more suitable.
The staff member then said that the lock is working and it s abit of a dodgey lock. Despite this even she was unable to lock the door when she attempted this in front of me.

The location of the hotel is lovely , surrounded by woodland. Although it is on a main road you forget this as soon as you walk through the door. The staff are very polite and welcoming. The conference rooms are well set out. The food is very nice and always served hot. I do a lot of business events where food is served and I have to say the food at hotel St Pierre is second to none

Just had our fantastic wedding here!!! From the very first time we met with Melanie to discuss our requirements right through to end of stay as the new Mr & Mrs, we couldn't fault the service or the staff.
Melanie was always there for us to help us throughout, leading us up to our big day. She along with Ben & all the other staff at the hotel were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
Our stay started on the evening before the big day and they made us feel very special from moment we stepped into the hotel. A 5* experience and would definitely recommend a wedding at this hotel!!!

Does everything u need for a couple of nights stay.

Good value, excellent service and good quality food. I wouldn't book a suite, it's basically additional cost for a sofa so will book a standard room next time. We will come back but maybe not on a weekend, as it was noisy because there was a function on.
