We had the pleasure of watching Amelie (also 5 stars!) preformed here. What a great theatre. The staff greeted us with a smile and helped us to our seats. There is also plenty of food and drinks to be had before the show starts if you wanted to come a little early. We really enjoyed the outside seating area.

PERICLES, PRINCE OF TYRE

We came to Berk. Rep. for a Yelp Event and so happy that we were able to experience the world-famous theater. The play itself was great. I'd never seen this Shakespeare number before but I imagine the director took some slight liberties in production since the pirates held AK-47s and Batman & Robin made an appearance.

We were excited for the show and left relatively early. We used Google maps and both of our phones directed us to a location that was NOT the theater. We were on the same street, but several blocks away. As we walked around the residential neighborhood we asked people if they knew where it was. Nobody did! We tried calling the theater and got no answer. It was very close to showtime. Finally, we found someone that knew. We were not close at all but we drove to the garage the gentleman suggested (not the Allston one, the one we picked was across the street from the box office) and it was an odd garage, but we found parking and that was all that mattered.

Our tickets awaited us at the box office and the theater employee was quick to hand them to us. We perused the snack area as fast as possible and then took our seats empty handed, but already thinking about what we wanted on break. As we sat, a performer started off the audience with a group song. It was fun and lively and educational (it instructed the room to turn off phones and pointed out the emergency exits).

The set up of the theater is awesome. It's all high seating that looks down on a center stage. The coolest thing I've ever seen in a theater took place this night. They used a large hose (like a fireman's hose) and sprayed the stage! Yes, with real water. it was so cool. Well-planned stage - they had a drain on it!! Other props, like a staircase that tucks away from first to second floor of the stage were really neat also.

All-in-all this was amazing! We had a great time. Enjoyed the fun performnace. Loved the venue. Even met a couple of yelp friends in person for the first time!! We will definitely be back.

Great venue, sat in front row of mezzanine, while watching, listening to "Paradise Square" -- musical, historical play depicting an unplanned and diversified neighborhood around the early 1800s whose quasi-success eventually falls victim to the usual challenges of ethnicity, race , class, greed, and "divide and conquer" politics. Enjoyable and also hard to watch. Comfortable seats, kind helpful ushers and welcoming. Oh, did I say it was cold outside but incredibly warm inside? Thanks Berkeley Rep, you got all of it right!

Office Hour at Berkeley Rep Theater was outstanding! It was a moving thought-provoking look into all the possible factors driving school shootings.
I was afraid it would be depressing and gory but it wasn t. Instead it made you look at many truths and societal dynamics we are afraid to look squarely at. It also helps you realize there are many different factors driving misdirected motivation to shoot and encourages you to look at many perspectives.

I love this Theater. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I came here twice to see Ain't too Proud and every seat is a good seat. I love that they offer a discount to folks under a certain age (MAJOR SCORE).

So hard to purchase tickets on their website. Spoke to the person on the sales window, and she gave me a very vague and dismissive answer - What she doesn't know is I've asked this questions lots of times before in the past year and I know they keep saying they will work on it, but no clear sign they are. Very frustrating.

The art direction for this theater is incredible! I was lucky enough to score tickets to see "No Man's Land" during it's run with the famous Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan; however, I've already bought tickets for the next production! The sound, light, and entire aesthetic of the theatre is incredibly impressive. Your dollars would be wisely spent at Berkeley Rep.

A number of years ago I was invited to attend a performance of Passing Strange at Berkeley Rep. They gave our group a nice little wine reception beforehand and spoke to us about how they were interested in getting younger people excited about and attending theater. Their demographic skewed pretty old. I moved to Europe and back before attending my second show there. It was American Idiot, the Green Day musical... and the theater was buzzing with younger attendees. I was so happy for them! They had done just what they set out to do. I started attending more and more and now I am a season ticket holder. I live most of forty miles away, on the peninsula, and I almost always get caught in awful traffic on my way there but I don't care. It's my favorite theater in the Bay Area. The parking garage right across the street is only $5 if you arrive after 5pm (pro tip: insert a credit card on your way in instead of taking a ticket and then use the same card to get out, skip the pay machine!). Dining options nearby are plentiful and wonderful. I like Comal, Revival and Build best so far.

Great venue for a show. I took my fiance here to see Amelie and we were blown away with how good the cast was. Also, the stage is very alive active. Cant wait to see our next show. If you're under 30, you can get discount tickets.

Every time, they nail it in terms of visitor experience. Regardless of whether or not I care for the production, I am always impressed by how well BR curates its shows. Currently playing Monsoon Wedding and the coordinating concessions delighted me. It feels like you're being transported when you step into the lobby.

Mi Tierra is a great grocery store known well by the community. Although it is mostly frequented by Latinos, it is open to everyone. This store holds fresh products, ranging from fruits and vegetables to meat and fresh baked break. It also contains house hold products at a cheap price. Not only that but it has overall good employees that are friendly. There are some inconveniences, but it will have most of what you need.

I saw Angels in America with a group, both parts of the play. While the play, direction, stage/set & props were awesome (truly awesome), the seats are small, rows are narrow, and there's only one bathroom to handle the entire theater. Couldn't get in at the intermission because the line was so long. And they don't allow you back in after the show starts.
