Bergman Academy has been a wonderful learning and development experience for my twin daughters. They love school and their teachers! They learn so much and enjoy being able to interact with the older students. They also love playing outside for recess since they have so many different nuts, leaves and sticks to use for their imaginary play and to build forts with- I guess it's a little "old fashioned" these days for school. They also love yoga, spanish, art and music.

Hands down the best school in Des Moines. We've had our daughter enrolled since preschool. She'll be a 6th grader this year and we think the quality of her education is outstanding. Smallest class sizes in Des Moines. The Iowa Assessment scores for the school speak for themselves.

We heard so many good things about Bergman Academy whether it s the principal the secretaries or the teachers they are very qualified teachers they are there to teach our kids and to give them The best education possible plus the coolest thing is class size is small and that s what you need there are a lot of teachers outside of Bergman they have a class size between 25 to 30 kids to One teacher. That s what I like about charter schools now does it cost money oh yeah but it s well worth it.

Bergman is a private school that offers "Common Core at its Best" as stated by their Principal. I am not a huge proponent of CC but would offer that there are several public schools that offer better outcomes for their students and at a smaller price tag. Bergman may have small class sizes but it is not Montessori or a gifted school. It does not offer individualized learning as it states in their marketing materials nor does it offer a fast-track for students who are high achieving. We gave the school a try for pre-school and then a second chance for kindergarten. We were underwhelmed with the experience. Many families have left the school to either attend public school or homeschool. We left the school and our son now happily attends Sayre Montessori. I gave two stars for small class sizes and for the beautiful, natural setting in which it is situated. I would consider the school maybe for pre-school but that's it.

Bergman Academy has been a great fit for our family! The students are celebrated every day for their accomplishments...including community engagement. The culture is robust and the students are challenged to reach their individual full potential every day. The curriculum teaches that progress toward continuous improvement until the desired outcome is obtained is the biggest success of all - the learning journey. We love the classroom ratio and the committment to fairness and thoughtfulness - all while behaviour excellence is of upmost importance.

I was disappointed with the poor quality of instruction and an abusive teacher. My complaints were not listened to (starting last October) and I finally decided to leave Bergman. We are now very happy at Greenwood Elementary and have an excellent teacher - much improved. Interesting fact - my son's teacher at Greenwood tutors Bergman students that are falling behind in her free time! My only regret is that we did not leave Bergman sooner.

We appreciate how Bergman has accepted our two kids into a happy, team centered learning environment. Smaller class sizes means our kids get to know their classmates, their teachers are able to use instruction time to the fullest, and the students get to spend extra time outside.

I think it is great because when our family moved to Iowa we started going to Eason Elementary School but they didn't give my son homework for TWO WEEKS! So then we made a change and found a school named Bergman Academy and I thought it was cool that it was in the Old Science Centre. And right when my son attended they gave my son LOTS of HOMEWORK. In Conclusion, I hope whoever is reading this letter will attend that Wonderful School!

We ve had our son at Bergman Academy for 3 years and couldn t have asked for a better experience. Our son is not only being well-prepared academically, but Bergman focuses so intently on building kids with global awareness and a sense of social responsibility. It s truly a gem in the Des Moines metro.

Bergman is an amazing place to go to school. As a student there, I love it. Faculty is super nice, students are friendly, and it is a wonderful place overall. You know all of your classmates and teachers personally because of the class sizes. The classrooms themselves are really comfortable to be in. The education too is amazing. You are placed in levels appropriate for you. Many people I know are years ahead of themselves in math, vocabulary, and spelling in the lower grades. Also, the location is just perfect. Greenwood park offers so many different activities. In PE, kids go geocaching, sledding, hiking. Even though there is no sports team, there are extracurriculars at school you can sign up for, such as soccer, mountain biking, cross country, karate, and much more. Chess club, art club, science club, drama club, and so much more is offered. There are three different choirs that take place during the day. Kids as young as 4 are taking Spanish classes. One of our Spanish teachers won an award! There are so many fun things we do throughout the school year, such as Spellebration, where kids each are given a 50 word spelling test and gather pledges. Or the Hispanic Festival with a salsa class, paper rocket making, a Middle Scholars soccer match, and a market with churros, flags, and a band playing to end the day. Going to Bergman is so much fun, and a great experience for all kids.

This is our fourth year at Bergman and we have 2 children enrolled. This school is absolutely amazing! We were drawn in by the small class sizes, high academic standards and diversity of the student body. We have been blown away by the Bergman family as a whole. Never have I met a more dedicated, hard working or sincere group of educators, administrators, parents and children. EVERY staff member here, no matter their specific role, has been consistently great. They know our kids. They know us. These teachers are constantly advancing in their fields and finding ways to connect and inspire. Communication is top notch and I am always impressed by the teacher's "fine tuning" of individual children's learning experiences during the year. That can only be accomplished by a teacher who really knows their students, how they learn best and then takes the time to make changes. They do that here.
The community here is extremely diverse in every way and differences are respected, celebrated and expected. Bergman is educating global citizens in a fun, positive and supportive way right in the middle of a beautiful park, in a soon to be even better ( and bigger) building. We drive over 20 minutes to attend Bergman Academy and cannot imagine a better choice for education here in Des Moines.
