Took a trip out to the Bendigo Tramways depot yesterday. These guys are Austraila' and possibly the world's leaders in tram restoration. Took a self guided tour of the workshop including donning the hard hat for a walk into the pit to see the running gear from below.

Great to see the cross promotion going on between the Tramways and the Bendigo Woolen Mills. You can now access each from the other as they have opened a gate in the fence between the 2. So you can catch a tram to the depot and then spend some time sifting through all that the Mill has to offer. Or you can drive to the Mill and then hop over and visit the Tramways. A great idea which gives the whole family something to see and do.

Rode this to the gold mine and back during a day trip. Loved every second of riding on the heritage tram and listening to the information on the speakers. Watched the driver and conductor swap the trolley wire around and fun to talk to them too. It was definitely worth the travel from Seymour to get here will come back one day!

Bendigo tramway is a wonderful little museum, with the history written on the walls and the drivers, workers and volunteers all being very lovely and welcoming, took a rude on the talking tram number 17 and was not disappointed. Defiently worth it! And not too expensive either!

I took the free self guided tour, not much is free these days, well worth a look if you're interested in the history of Bendigo, or even take a ride on a fully restored piece of history.

Had a ball! We ended up doing the loop twice each day...........would recommend a ride for sure even if your not "into" trains/trams.

The ride is worth it by itself but as a bonus you actully learn something about the area!

Keep up the great work guys!

Drove in after seeing sign on main road. After a quick Look around we are approached by tram driver John. Even tho it was a self guided tour John showed us all the trams explained history of them all and took us around. Was very helpful and informative.

Very friendly and easy to navigate, a short and simple hop on hop off 'bus' substitute with historical accurate finishings. the staff seemed genuinely proud to be there and share their knowledge. More of an experience than viable transport though so probably suggest as one way trip from gold mine end to tram museum

I went on the Talking Tram Tour with my wife and two kids. The experience was amazing, the staff were a delight and also really helpful.
My wife and I found ourselves in a difficult position due to having two young children and a double pram. The tram driver was kind enough to take the pram from me and put it on the tram while my family took our seats.
My 2 year old son had such an amazing time on the tram that we almost ended up riding it 3 times end to end.
I highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for an enjoyable time out with a bit of education thrown in for good measure.

We recently visited the Tramways Depot in Bendigo. The staff on duty were extremely helpful and their customer service skills were exemplary. The volunteers who spend countless hours restoring the trams are to be admired for their skill and dedication. It is reassuring to know that my grandchildren will have the opportunity to enjoy these Trams, well into the future. Thank you to all concerned for a pleasant experience. The mine tour you recommended was fantastic.

Friendly staff and a FANTASTIC attraction for tourists wanting to get a great view of this beautiful city. The tram museum is so fascinating to see the different types of trams from around the world and actually get to go inside them.
If you can get a ticket for the Blues Tram, DO IT! It's so much fun and they always get great acts from local and abroad!

This place is a lovely little gem especially if you are a tram lover. We were visiting the Woolen Mills and while certain members of the family were more interested in that others had a look at the tram depot.

They have a bunch of the trams you can climb on and explore with some history boards you can read.

They also have a nice little gift shop with very friendly staff who make you feel very welcome.
