Food was very good and staff amazingly friendly and helpful.
Would recommend even if you don't manage to get a reservation to see Woody Allen and the Eddy Davis band.

Stopped in for a post New year's Eve drink with some friends, friendly bartender Pedero.
Chic, elegant, classic, just "La Belle Epoc" de New York
Nice place to dine, the service as well as the food are excellent
Nice restaurant, live music, very nice and professional staff. It is worth making a stop.
Snobby bartenders. Cool venue full of history. Classy but there is a distinct difference between class and snobbishly rude service.
Food, ambiance, service, value, elegance, convenience, just breathtaking if you like to dine out.
Great singer, restaurant and food , service was good
If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in New York City, look no further than The Carlyle, a Rosewood Hotel in the heart of the city. As a travel destination and entertainment critic as well as a wedding / event organiser this sophisticated hotel with top-notch music events at the Cafe Carlyle and the Behelmans Bar are our No. 1 recommendation. Just dined at the Cafe Carlyle while being entertained by Cheyenne Jackson. A spectacular event and an entertainer of extraordinary talent. Now that's put New York City top of our list of destinations!
There's nothing quite like The Carlyle. It's a unique experience steeped in tradition. If you're lucky enough to catch Earl Rose on the piano, you're in for a treat.
Old school traditional conservative atmosphere. Great three piece Jazz band was a treat.
Famous place for his drawings on the walls. It is usually full and is a bit crowded. You can only order drink and stay for a while. You have to have some luck to reach somewhere.
Always a great meal no matter what you order... Pricey but you get what you pay for..
Lapin and I came here to celebrate a milestone. We made reservations almost a month ahead but when we arrived the place was empty. We were seated right near the entrance way but was okay because it gave us the prime spot to people watch. While I was dressed nicely, Lapin just wore a button down and fancy pants/shoes. We read that he needed a jacket but didn t remember the day of. However, the host just waved us in and said it was okay and not to worry. Perhaps, they assumed the worst of us that day but Lapin was just happy he didn t have to wear a jacket in the heat. Although, there was a private party in one of the adjacent room and there were teenagers wearing hoodies, sneakers and clearly clothes meant for the club/streetwear along with men who just wore polo t-shirts. To be honest, we felt a bit out of place it was mostly older couples, people who look loaded (anyone single? :P), and some of the people gave a pretentious air about them.
They charged us an automatic 20% ( 15% for the wait staff and 5% for the service captain -- I didn t see a captain?!). The service was absolutely impeccable. They checked in every couple of minutes, refill our glasses without asking, and also let us sit back and talk after the meal without rushing us (most of the tables were empty, but still nice not to be rushed). While the service is impeccable, I just wished the food was more on point especially for the price.
My wife and I snatched up the Travel Zoo deal for our visit to NYC from Charleston, SC. We love to eat out and the food at home is always incredible so we were looking forward to some high end NYC Restaurants. We had the Travel Zoo prefix menu which had pretty much everything on it that we wanted. We ordered the Muscles & Shrimp Cocktail as an app. They were both just OK. Shortly after finishing our Appetizers we had both polished off our first round of drinks and were looking for more. One of the SA's came by and took our empty glasses but did not offer another round and walked away before we could ask... Then our entrees came out. For our entrees we chose Lobster & Steak. The lobster was drowned in a rich buttery sauce & cheese. It was extremely hard to eat given all of the butter.. The steak I got was burnt on the outside and med-rare in the middle. It was also hard to eat given the nasty charred taste. I eventually started cutting the outside off to eat the middle. By the time we picked at our entrees till we didn't want anymore we still hadn't seen our captain or waiter. No drinks. No one even came by to ask how our food was. We then sat at our table for another fifteen minutes in disbelief as our captain repeatedly looked at us and kept walking. It was blatantly obvious that we were done with our meals & had absolutely nothing to drink. He even made eye contact with me a couple of times. Finally after awhile I was able to lock eyes with the manager who immediately came over. I told him that we had been forgotten about and he apologized. A few minutes later our captain came over and offered coffee with our deserts, totally ignoring the fact that we had just had an awful experience. The deserts were good. The captain offered us 4 chocolate chip cookies for our troubles. Haha.
Awful experience.
Classy and cool takes you back to a more elegant time
The drinks were delicious and pricey. But the space/ambiance felt very stuffy.
Went here with my wife for Valentines Day. We had the Travelzoo/Google deal for two which included a select 3 courses and champagne. Usually restaurants narrow down the options for coupons, they did but there were still some great options like lobster and Kobe steak. The food was spectacular, I had beef tare tare (amazing) and lobster (not bad but didn't blow me away). For dessert we had creme brulee, great but forgettable. My only complaint was that the waiter wasn't too attentive when we wanted to pay our bill...but I would imagine it is one of those upscale restaurants that just lets you hang out and dine and chat for as long as you wish.
It was chosen as the location in the beautiful movie "Little Manhattan" of 2005 (in Italy "Falling in love in Manhattan") with the then 11 years old actors starring Charlie Ray (New York doc) and Josh Hutcherson at their first romantic dinner
Bartender poured my cocktail from a pre mixed container! A four ingredient cocktail, pre mixed, just add ice and pour. All for the low price of $24.
The food was impeccable as one can imagine. The service here is beyond the bar I felt like we were the only ones in the place Eventbrite was packed. So good.
If you dont wear PRADA and Hermes bag, they dont treat you like human
Expensive but good shows. Older New York style club.
Servers are helpful, friendly. Great place to talk, have business meetings. Early afternoon calm.
Great french restaurant, the food was yummy full of flavor, seasoned well and was balanced. They have to work on their plating almost all the dishes I got didn't look good. Staffs are friendly and professional. Overall good restaurant but way too overpriced for ok food.
Pretty charming place, but I consider the prices too much higher compared with similar places in Downtown
There's nothing quite like The Carlyle. It's a unique experience steeped in tradition. If you're lucky enough to catch Earl Rose on the piano, you're in for a treat.
This hotel has a unique feel to it ... the friday night jazz was beautiful mature crowd excellent waiters.... we had a ball and i will go back when am in new york again....
Always packed, but we managed to get two seats at the (Bemelmans) bar. Delicious drinks (we recommend the Fleur de Paradis), fresh bar snacks (we also ordered from the bar menu), AND there was a terrific piano-sax duo (cover required but worth it). Lovely spontaneous NYC experience.
Great place for dinner for two. The atmosphere is very romantic and relaxing. Dined at this restaurant several times, and always had the best experience. Service is great. Food and drinks are delicious. Definitely recommend to have a nice romantic dinner in here.
Afternoon tea time. Perfect for a nice getaway with beautiful interior design, surrounded by historic Carlyle hotel features, luxurious table seating, cozy and comfortable stay. Wait staff were friendly and helpful. Quality quiet tea time with delicious tea sandwiches and English scones. Perfect for ladies and dates!
Brunch at the Carlyle is so fabulously luxurious. You are greeted, seated at perfectly appointed tables with gorgeous linens and then offered big fat menus. We came on a day that was simply horrid with rain so sitting and chilling was just right and a slow relaxed brunch was heaven. No one was rushing and in NYC that is something of a miracle!
Brunch is 3 courses and so large and so delicious. They always have a glorious hunk of meat in the trolley and it is not to be missed. We were stuffed but dessert was awesome. After the longest brunch we headed to the iconic Bemelman s bar for a cocktail. Now this is what Sunday is all about.

the setting is elegant and impressive. the food was good but not outstanding, especially given the price. the service was an absolute clunker. the waiter seemed to continually forget our table, never checked in on us; i even had to chase him down to get the bill. i would not recommend the carlyle ... it clearly believes its own press, and feels it can rest on that.
I went for my daughter's birthday. We arrived around 9:30, the restaurant was not full, but the atmosphere was unique! We loved the upscale decor, the waiters were perfect and the food delicious, especially the Lobster! Nice hotel and people, we will return, thats for sure!
Iconic landmark in NYC. It was at its best when Chris Gillespie performed at Bemelmans Bar. We miss him!
If Google had 7 stars it would make all 7. As classy yet unpretentious as you can get.
This spot is good! Convenient pricing, considerable dishes and the staff members are constantly very friendly.
have a facelift, bring your walker and you'll be right at home here.
Fantastic service, food, and ambiance. An NYC must.
I had a great dining experience here. The service was good and the staffs are very cool and attentive. The food was delicious, well-cooked and healthy. The restaurant itself was beautiful, very charming and well-decorated.
The paintings on the wall are pretty nifty, and they have a live pianist while you enjoy your dinner and drinks.
Quirky, great bar, atmosphere, service... I lovvvvved!
Very upscale dining with fabulous music.
Saw Woody Allen play jazz whilst enjoying fabulous foods.
Excellent food, service and decor. Prices are quite steep and you will usually only find the very upper east siders dining here because no one else can afford it. Great for special occasions. Very romantic. Extensive wine list. Everything I have had here is great.
Great awesome restaurant and bar. My favorite in the upper East side
Unbelievable, indescribable, cozy & warm.
Out of my top 3 hotels in N.Y. It s #1.
Love you, don t go changing.
It ll break my heart.

Great for brunch - and the bar is great for late-night cocktails.
Had many lovely dinners with my Father, it was one of his special places. Food, wine, cocktails and the service are fabulous. I met many interesting people always having great tales of their lives. I return a few times a year. Still see some unique people. The Carlyle is more than dinner, cocktails, comfortable rooms. It's an experience to be savored and cherished. Like my Father, it too is my happy places. Thank you
Loved tha banquette seating, hand painted wallpaper, and fabulous Kennedy photos!
i love to come here during restaurant week and enjoy the salmon without paying a fortune. The round tables are the best, to enjoy the classy decoration in a 360 perspective.
Went for an afternoon High Tea on a beautiful Sunday. This is served in the Gallery. Fortunately for us the lower part of the Gallery was exclusively ours. Servers were very courteous but not always remember to check on us. Food is not awe-inspiring though pleasant. An excellent setting for a relaxed un-hurried conversation or a quite intimate solitary laptop.
