June 17, 2021 brought my dad to the emergency room. The room was filthy, blood spots on the floor. The nurse tech, female, who assisted my dad was rude. The pharmacist, female, was very rude. That pharmacist needs a definite attitude adjustment. The time this all happened was between 5pm to 7 pm. The RN who was a gentleman was actually very caring. If you are going to work in the Medical field, you need to be caring and compassionate. So we were here during shift change. The second shift RN was very nice and caring.

On Saturday 6/5/2021 @ 830pm we arrived at the UNMC - Emergency Room in Bellevue, NE. Upon arrival, I checked in and we were told to go wait in the waiting area. There was approximately four people waiting to be seen. After waiting for 2.5 hours (seeing people that arrived after us being seen), as well as two different individuals & their parties leaving due to long wait times, we were called back to room E110.

The room E110 was NOT clean - it was disgusting. My husband said he felt like he was in a third world country facility.

There was blood spots on the floor, by the sink area & by the exam bed.

There was also something splattered on one of the light covers on the ceiling.

The dust build up on the vent/cabinet was very viewable from the bed and up close (pictures available).

Upon using the bathroom in the exam room, there was dried blood or stool on the underside of the toilet rim - which we didn t do, it was there when my husband used the restroom (pictures available).

We did let the nurse know about it when being released (at 1:45am) about the toilet and dust covered vent.

This was our first time at this facility and we were so shocked by the nasty ER Room.

We ve both been to UNMC - Midtown and UNMC - Village Pointe and have always been so pleased with the cleaniness of those locations - but the Bellevue ER needs some deep cleaning!

My husband works in maintenance & said that this would NOT even be acceptable in a non-hospital environment.

Wish I could give zero stars. Garbage hospital, with staff to match. I get the covid issue, but its june, cases are way down, most people are vaccinated, so what's the issue of waiting for a loved one on the cusp of death, due to restrictions being lifted. Follow the science, I'm sure most of you have college educations. Rant complete.

EDIT: I forgot to add that the labor and delivery staff here are the only exceptional staff. They are kind and understanding and treat patients with care. I had my two oldest here and it was a great experience. Otherwise, what I said below still stands correct.

Most of the staff is friendly and attentive. I've been here before several times since it's the closest to my home. My experiences are with the actual hospital/staff as well as the financial department.

The ER staff is generally nice. They always admit me quickly. It has taken a while at times to get me to Triage, however the front desk staff is always timely checking me in.
I've had some bad experiences with a few nurses. One was a male, I forgot his name, he was rude and commented that I never seem to wear anything under my hoodies, like another shirt. Which was degrading. (Last I checked, I can dress how I want.) The second was with a female nurse who apparently told my husband that my seizures weren't real because they aren't epileptic. This is despite her having never seen me before or knowing my medical history. Please teach your staff to not invalidate any persons medical condition. Seizures, epileptic or not are dangerous and scary. The last thing we need is someone belittling us for something we can't control.
The nurses and doctors have always been friendly and easy to talk to. I've only had a couple experiences where I felt they just gave me medicine and told me to be on my way, only for me to go home and feel worse and have to come back.

With the financial department, I had a bill with the hospital, I thought I had put in for financial assistance, (I later found out I didn't). Either way, I stopped getting bills from them, so I thought it had been taken care of. It had been sent to collections, however the billing wasn't clear, I thought it was for something else. I tried giving them a pay off amount of more than half of the bill and they refused. Accredited Collection Services is terrible. In order to not be sued, (apparently they don't care that people are suffering through this pandemic) I paid off the entire amount. Whatever, I owed and I paid. No one would work with me which was sad.

I'm leaving 2 stars because regardless of the friendly staff (at times) most of my experiences with this hospital have been bad if not awful) I would rather go to any other hospital than here again.

Worst experience I've ever had at a hospital, the desk ladies and nurses were extremely rude for no reason and I came in with a high fever and other problems and all they did was swab me for covid and then told me to leave. Didnt test me for anything else. I actually had food poisoning really bad which ended up hospitalizing me later
