I ve been in and out of recording studio environments since I was a teenager and at 34 years old I can say hands down, Mike at Behind The Curtains media is the best engineer/producer I ve ever worked with. Not only is the studio comfortable and accommodating and full of amazing gear including tons of guitars, amps and a number of bass guitars, freakin toys galore, Mike makes you feel like a friend from the second you step in to his space. I would highly recommend working on your music here. He has an ear for all types of tunes and makes sure things sound sonically correct but also you feel good about the entire process. I ve always struggled to feel comfortable in a studio and get the sound I hear in my head on record and Mike did just that. 10 out 10 experience. I will be back!
Absolutely fantastic experience recording here. First off, the studio itself has a very warm and inspirational vibe to it, which is incredibly important for any musician. Mike (the owner and producer) truly goes above and beyond for the song. It never once felt like he was just doing "his job", but rather it felt like a collaboration in trying to make the song as great as possible. He's an incredible arranger as well and is full of creative ideas. As a singer I usually don't feel comfortable singing for the first time in front of a producer I just met, but with Mike I felt like I was at home. Great guy. Great place. Great sounding records.
After 'trying out' different studios to possibly work with, we knew that working with Mike Abusio at Behind the Curtains Media was our new home for music making. He provides amazing personal attention to every project and listens to the artist in order to provide customized feedback and results. His ability to make suggestions in instrumentation and production are so fast, so on point, and so stress free. We highly recommend this studio.
I had a really positive experience working with Behind the Curtains Media. From the beginning, they were very professional, organized and enthusiastic about my music and helping to pitch my new single. I could tell they genuinely cared about me and were generous with their personal attention. The results were very very solid, considering I had received very little press to that point. They helped land a premiere at a very reputable blog, numerous other press outlets and also landed my song on some really solid Spotify playlists. All in all, they achieved results I would never have been able to on my own. I have always had a harder time on the business end of things, and working with Behind the Curtains was great to take that stress off and put in the hands of passionate folks who really know what they re doing. I definitely recommend them!
I was disappointed in the negative feedback I received around most of the outfits my friends and colleagues had used (common complaints were lack of personal attention and minimal follow-through). Behind the Curtains Media over-provided on both of those fronts. They approached my project from a very unique and specialized angle, and the results provided us with press attention from different outlets that might have gone otherwise unconsidered. Hanna even continued to follow up on several leads after the contracted campaign was over.

I've recorded a total of 6 songs with Mike at Behind the Curtains, and I'm so happy with each one!
When I came into the sessions, I only had lyrics, melodies, and chord progressions, and Mike was willing to creatively work with me as we put together the rest of the songs. He put time and energy into assuring that my artistic visions were being translated in a way that satisfied me. Whether we were making percussive sounds with staplers or he was pulling out the ole trumpet for me, he always brought crazy cool ideas to the table. Mike is clearly very experienced at his craft and is able to play nearly any instrument you need. Definitely take advantage of his guitar playing abilities if you record with him.
Recording with Mike was always fun and we've shared a lot of laughs! His studio is amazing and really inspires creativity. I love the location too, and I miss all of my studio time in Brooklyn. I always feel inspired when I come visit Behind the Curtains Media.

What is unique about their process is an honest attention to detail and comfortability in a variety of genres. As well as an innate understanding of the process from the other side, as the owner brings in many years working as a touring original artist himself.
