I have had Bear River for my home and auto for over a decade. They are one of the best priced services.
Previously I had heard rumors that they would drop you after claims, or that teenagers were undesirable. But I have 2 teenagers on our policy now. And one of the totaled a car that they only owned for 1 week. Bear River handled this very professionally, and with out risk of dropping us.
As good as any insurance company out there.

I wish very much that I could say that I have also had an amazing experience with Bear River.
However, I have had quite the opposite.
Serious lack of compassion, concern, or genuine customer service.
I have been treated condensendingly, rudely, and since I was upset, just another annoyed customer that they can brush off so they can focus on the "happy" ones.
I would rather pay more, and be treated like a human being, than "save money".
I have absolutely zero good to say about this company. I recommend finding somewhere else!
Absolutely believe that if I were to file a complaint, they would gaslight the hell out of me like a professional narcissistic abuser.

Garage and other parts of the house were destroyed...

Garage and other parts of the house were destroyed by the storm. The adjuster took forever to get back to us, and when she did, she stated that all we needed was a new roof for our garage.

Update: now the insurance will no longer be sending us funds. I'm very happy I've been paying home insurance that does not work.

I am a contractor and have worked on a couple Bear River Claims. The first thing that stands out to me is that bear river wont actually take the time to write up and actual claim or scope of work they will literally just calculate the # of squares on a roof & add a random dollar amount per sq so that they don't have to keep up with current market prices or pay for extra labor like step flashing & chimney flashings. All of this is already extremely lazy and unprofessional not write up a legitimate scope of work reflecting current market prices, But lets get into the customer service. I have been working on a claim for the last 2 months, the roof has been completed for close to two months, I sent off all my documentation requesting final payment 2 months ago!!! I have been calling the adjuster since then no response, Finally i got a hold of a new adjuster who was supposed to take over the claim (never heard from him again). Now I am on adjuster #3!!! I have been calling her for the past 2 weeks no response, she then sends me a text saying that she will NOT be calling me back just send documentation to her email (have sent this to bear river already!!) I asked her if she would approve an overage because I have incurred additional cost paying interest on labor and material while they have been experiencing turn over in the office. She said no I asked her if there was a reason and she said that she will no longer be communicating with me via text OUR ONLY FORM OF COMMUNICATION TO THIS POINT!!! And then she said that this isn t even her claim.... I called the main office and all they could say was that stinks. I don t care whose claim it is this has been some of the worst customer service of my life!!! Please get it together!!!

My car was dead but the battery was fine. I called Bear River and they listened sincerely and sympathetically, arranged a tow and were careful to verify it would fall within the free tow guidelines. From first call to car at dealership for repairs was less than 90 minutes. I received a very thoughtful voicemail from the service agent who handled my claim afterwards wanting to make sure everything with my car was okay. I also received a handwritten note from my service agent thanking us and wishing us the best. It was a flawless customer service experience.

I had lost 9 - 50 year old trees from a wind storm that happened at my residence. I called Bear River Mutual to find out whether I had a claim or not. They said that I did have a claim and it was handled very promptly. I received a payment very quickly. Excellent service. Thank you. Norm

Wind damage to 20 year old siding. Bear River sent their own contractor that had the vinyl siding sent to a lab. The vinyl is discontinued and unable to be matched. Bear River is only willing to replace 1 side with a a different texture and color of siding. This is going to devalue the home and isn t uniform! If the point of insurance is to bring your house back to the state it was before it was damaged, they are doing a terrible job!!! buyer beware! Bad product.

Would have been a 5, but your prices have raised significantly in the past 2 years. Used to be a great value, but are now I ve found some companies that area around 25% less expensive for the same coverage.

Customer service has gone downhill as well. Don t even try to contact the company. They ll send you to an agent, and they don t even care if you decide to leave. Been with them for around 20 years, and they didn t seem to care that I was unhappy.

Very good customer service. Friendly and attentive to your needs. I am not insured by them but would consider if the need was there. Very professional and handles claims very well. The whole process was fast and very kind to my family. Thank you bear river for what could have been a terrible experience to a very good experience. Job well done!

I always wanted to be with Bear River Mutual Insurance. I've been a very happy customer since late 2005 - early 2006. Bear River has always handled any claim quickly, easily, professionally, and also kindly with the human touch. I absolutely knew I had the best when a very reputable repair shop asking who my insurance was with was extremely pleased that it was Bear River. They told me they would rather deal with Bear River than any other insurance company because of the ethics and professionalism of the company. Yay, very happy to have had my instincts validated. LOVE Bear River!!!!!!
