This is by far the worst customer service ever. My son was suppose to have therapy sessions with them and he only got 4 sessions and the others that were suppose to also show up never did. And I would call and call and the lady that had my sons cause was never there according to them! And they never gave me an explanation to why they stopped going to my house to give my son the therapy he needed. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. And the receptionist gives you the worst attitude and they just give the WORST service ever!

My daughter was referred to ECI by her pediatrician. From the start it was hard to get things settled. The only therapist that really worked with her left. Her appts were so hit and miss. Her case manager went without contact with me for almost 3 months and when her speech therapist left nobody ever came back. Thank goodness I worked with her myself. When she had any other kind of therapy it was more of a talk session. Nobody ever tried working with her. Then she aged out and the school didn t take her because they so no issues yet we are still having problems. My daughter really needed the therapy and got it to a very minimal extent. Then I was told we were owed some speech therapy sessions and make up sessions. Well no surprise. 2 months later and haven t heard anything. Very disappointing especially when all we needed was help for our daughter.
My daughter was referred here for EI for help with motor skills. They initially came out for an evaluation after a few weeks, and after it was confirmed that she needed some more help with motor skills, we made a schedule for a therapist to come to our house to help us. Over the course of 6+ months, someone came to my house twice to help her. We literally received no help, and we really needed it. Thankfully, my daughter caught up on her motor skills, but there was a lot of time where we could've used some help.
Everyone that I've ever encountered from this facility has always been extremely warm and kind, and there's zero problem with the employees themselves, but there is an issue with how the business is run. We definitely should have received more help than we did.
I had been taking my son to therapy prior to starting therapy at this facility and I am a disappointed on how they process information and handle their patients. As any therapy center does they get a background of the patient in order to properly facilitate their patients. Initially there were bumps with evaluations and therapy schedule as one of the intake coordinators tried to put the blame on a new employee (the therapist) about not filling out the correct paper work so my sons schedule would not be interrupted, she stated it may take the insurance 7-10 business days for us to proceed with therapy. She said if you want you call the doctor and see if they will speed up the process. Which in my past experience I have never been asked to do that because the other facility coordinated everything with the Doctor and the insurance. I felt that was very unprofessional to blame a employee who recently got hired and inconvenience your patients. Consistency is key when is comes to therapy having a set schedule gives children like my son stability mentally Other incidents have happened but let us fast forward... we decided to go ahead and start therapy after COVID-19 where we all knew it was going to be issue because of the mask. I am all for wearing mask and if my son was willing to wear one he would. My son is a 6 year old boy who is non verbal and autistic.. when I stated concerns about the mask and maybe for the therapist to just wear the shield instead so my non verbal son could look at her lips to mimic and work on SPEECH. I had mentioned also that the attitude my son had after therapy a session prior reminded me of how he acted when he was being strapped down in the bus by a bus aid on the school bus and that it had concerned me.( I think the fact that the window was covered so you cannot see into the room while the child is doing therapy is not the best idea.) NOW, I was NOT accusing abuse I was stating true concerns I had and the intake coordinator stated she would communicate this to the director and he would contact me. Once Bill (the director) contacted me to discuss the concerns I had I re stated my concerns gave examples of what I have experienced in the past and instead of actually understanding or even taking into consideration what I have said he then stated..." the therapist stated your son is aggressive whats up with that"? MY son was supposed to start behavioral therapy that his doctor recommended prior to quarantine which I been coordinating with Marty (autism intake coordinator for ABA) prior to the events that had occured. After that remark came out of his mouth I no longer had the patience to even conversate with the man. His poor choice of words and lack of knowledge of children with disabilities saddens me. How can you work in a field of disabilities and not be understanding to the fact that every child is different and if it were as simple as tell your son to stop my son would not be doing half the things he does. Here is a definition of what being autistic is and how wide of spectrum there is: Requires a medical diagnosis The range and severity of symptoms can vary widely. Common symptoms include difficulty with communication, difficulty with social interactions, obsessive interests, and repetitive behaviors. People may experience:Behavioral: inappropriate social interaction, poor eye contact, compulsive behavior, impulsivity, repetitive movements, self-harm, or persistent repetition of words or actions Developmental: learning disability or speech delay in a child Cognitive: intense interest in a limited number of things or problem paying attention. Psychological: unaware of others' emotions or depression. Also common: anxiety. I hope your treatment here is better than mine, we live in a small town with limited options and facilities and our families deserve great quality, not insensitive remarks, and lack of communication. I don't want bay area to lose business, I want them to do BETTER for the people who NEED you like my son did. I will be taking him back to the therapy center we started at.
I am prefacing this post with the fact that our speech therapist at Bay Area Rehabilitation was great and my husband and I ALWAYS have worn our masks. And I am sharing for other moms to know their childrens rights if they have difficulty with the masks.
However, Director Mark Alexander was incredibly unhelpful and infringed on my daughter s rights to services. Due to Covid 19, there are many new procedures put in place to protect everyone.
Today, my two year old daughter was told she could not come into the facility unless she wore a mask. My daughter is nonverbal and has major anxiety. The mask make her have anxiety attacks. I was told for her to receive services, I would have to HOLD a mask on her face to walk her into the room where she could take it off. All this despite the fact that Judge Holdago s orders specifically state that if the mask causes emotional stress then one could be exempt. My daughter deserves her services so I was willing to try but it of course caused her to panic meaning her therapy session was over before it began. The director and another employee proceeded to walk around the facility without a mask on while forcing my child to be uncomfortable.
The way I was spoken to while trying to get my daughter help was infuriating.
I will be reporting this facility and specifically Mark Alexander.
5 stars! Bay Area Rehab has a group of Experienced, Knowledgeable and Caring Individuals.I had therapy on both of my knees on two separate occasions in 2017, due to meniscus tears. First of all the therapy is done on a One on One basis, which I love !! I had PT on my right knee for 4 wks and 8 wks later had surgery for my left knee in which I only needed 2 wks of therapy. I was given a Home Exercise Program that helped me tremendously. My Therapist Casey was Awesome <3 !! Thank you Bay Area Staff!
