Great shows. Extremely talented performers who shine in varying roles from show to show. How someone can go from playing Robert in Bridges of Madison County to playing Donkey in Shrek, and killing it in both roles, is absolutely amazing. Beautiful venues. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. A superb experience in every way. They even "edited" the O in the "Love" sign by the fountain across the street in honor of everyone's favorite Ogre! :-)

Barter is very fun. I have always enjoyed seeing plays and musical groups. The stage is transformed into magical scenes. The Hunch Back of Notre Dame was amazing when I saw it, so was Tarzan. I didn't really enjoy Sherlock Holmes and the American problem, but plays are interpreted different by each person who sees them.

Simply a must see experience! It's so worth the drive. Every performance, be it on the main stage or the 2nd stage, they are phenomenal! Everyone is so polite and gracious from the parking attendant, will call to the ushers. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Always a first class performance and fabulous experience! Several years ago, we started a new tradition of going to the Barter Theatre on Christmas Eve. This is part of my gifts to my family. We ALL look forward to it every year and they NEVER disappoint! Incredible performances, fabulous atmosphere, fun for the entire family. Even my teenagers love it! Thankful to the Barter for always adding to my Christmas festivities!!

I've been attending plays at the Barter for twenty years, literally almost my entire life, and I'll continue to do so as long as it exists. The casts are almost always wonderful, with a wide variety of show types, and the very neat and innovative Stage II, where the plays happen literally feet in front of you. The pricing is reasonable, especially if you purchase a ticket package in advanced for the next season. Definitely get there early for your play, parking is very competitive. I'll always recommend the Barter.

Barter Theatre is a shining gem in our quirky, artsy town. There s a reason that world renowned artists make their home in our Appalachian town-and it started back in 1933 with the founding of Barter Theatre. These are not community plays-we are talking Broadway quality but with accessibility, affordability and a feeling of home and belonging. Whether it s a musical, a drama, or even music in the winter, Barter Theatre is a must experience for anyone visiting Abingdon.

The acting is first rate, and the setting is beautiful. Professional theater for less than half of what you would pay in a big city, and some of the actors from here have gone on to the big time. The world premiere of "Madame Buttermilk" was particularly funny!

Outstanding Theater. Very well maintained and the staff assists keeping it that way. The gift shop is well appointed and well organized. The wine bar has a nice selection of good wine. Soft drinks and bottles of water are also available. The performers are outstanding. Will attend again.
