Last week was the first time we came to that excellent restaurant. But It is obviously not the last time. We passed a splendid evening with the efficient service, with the fine meal and fine drinks and with the comfortable pay. We will surely go back there in a short time.

A solid restaurant. From design to service to price to food, everything was right where it needed to be. There s also free valet parking so that s pretty sweet. I think the menu is a little too extensive leading to the dishes just not reaching that stellar level. When it s busy, it does get quite loud and the line can also get very daunting. RECOMMENDED

hands down one of the high quality dim sum places

more expensive, yes, but on top of high quality ingredients prepared freshly you get:

- mid-city location
- a large drink selection including cocktails, beer, wine
- modern vibe
- free valet

always satisfied and ready to come back again!

Came here for a late lunch all the way from Irvine. I was excited by the fact that this is one of the few dumpling houses that have so many non-pork choices,

The interior has a California infused Far East Asian decor. The inside did get a bit hot in mid afternoon; but, not uncomfortably. The service was also good.

The food was exceptional. The $3 Hot and Sour Soup was enough to fill you up almost. You can almost share one of the bowls between 2 people. Next we had the Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant. They had 3 pieces per plate. It was delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfect and the eggplant texture was soft but not runny. We then had the juicy spicy chicken dumpling and shumai. Both were ok. Shumai is dumpling with chunks of chicken, not ground. Wasn't the biggest of fans.

I'd definitely come back and try other dishes.

The Pork and Sweet Red Bean buns are as good as you could find in China. I never had Curry Chicken in China but these are easily the best tasting buns they carry. Go early for them though, they run out early!

Idk too many dim sum spots around here, but this is probably the best. It's super clean and delicious.

Definitely recommend. Just a heads up, it is a bit pricer than your regular dim sum spots in Alhambra.

I've been wanting to try this place out for awhile. Free valet parking btw - definitely take it, since parking in the area is extremely difficult. I came here with two other friends for their happy hour, which I believe runs M-Th from 4-7PM. It's a really good deal - you can get most of of their popular dishes for $1 off and as my friend says, 3$ for a beer which is practically unheard of anywhere in LA. The dishes aren't exactly authentic dim sum, as they taste healthier and less oily but still quite delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised and will be making my way here for their happy hour and when I'm too lazy to drive to the SGV for good dim sum :)

It's not traditional dim sum. You have to order the plates individually. The staff are robots who don't do anything above and beyond what their job description is. The chefs are great, the food is good. The rest of the staff, not so much.

Pretty tasty and prices are reasonable (considering the location). Dim sum variety is limited compared to the steamy roaming carts of Chinatown- but all in all it was yummy and I would go back.

We ordered takeout from Bao Dim Sum House and they "delivered!" The dim sum is on par with other quality dim sum houses. The Crystal Shrimp Dumplings (Ha Gow) were good. The Spicy Shrimp Dumplings were better, and the Pork and Shrimp More

Great place for dumplings and auth Asian food, at a great price! Drinks are extremely inexpensive. But beware, extremely strong! Ginger Hainan chicken was amazing, as was the mochi dumplings. Want to come back and try their soups! Great price for what you get here, I can't stress that enough!

I m a fiend for dim sum so when I was in the area I knew I had to stop by, and I was not disappointed! Tons of vegan options, quick and really lovely service, and the place is decorated beautifully. Lunch time was really calm, but I m sure dinner time can get a bit busy! Street parking available.

It wasn't the parking problem (one must valet in this area), it wasn't the wait, it was the food!!! I was dissatisfied with their dim sum but it's difficult to surpass places in San Gabriel so kudos for the effort.

Almost like Hong Kong. Hmm not almost but it's pretty good and better than the cheapy ones with the carts. This place has a very modern Asian feel when you walk in. I mean they even have a full bar to have cocktails while you eat dim sum. I've never tried their dishes here but I love their dim sum here! The portions are larger but the price is a little higher. Plus they have pictures for the dim sum! So you will know exactly what you are ordering. Just try everything here. I love the tripe, shui mai, and sticky rice in lotus leaf the best. Even their har gow is pretty tasty. The soup dumplings were okay. Just a little thick and needed more soup. The service here was a little slow. It was hard to flag down anyone for anything. Even though they weren't busy at all.

Good range of authentic Chinese-American. Some what hard core dimsum can be found (tripe) but don't recall seeing chicken feet on the menu. Selection is good for lighter Chinese food as the name dictate. A few fried rice and fried noodle can be found here. Alcohol swing from hot sake to whisky on the rocks. Parking can be problematic. Went for mostly lunches and no valet was seen.

They do military discount!!!This is a really busy restaurant. They opened at 5pm and their were people lining up at 4pm!! I would definitely get there one hour before opening. The food was really good and the chicken wings were worth it! It's true what they say

Crab fried rice: 3/5

Crab fried rice: 3/5
Besides the fact that they add crab meat, this dish is nothing special. But then again, most fried rice dishes taste similar. They're fairly generous with their portion sizes, as this dish can definitely be shared between 2-3 people. It's a good filler dish that pairs well with the dim sum. If you tried to get full off of just the dim sum, then the cost would be rather high (in other words, the dim sum are expensive).

Pork & Shrimp shumai: 4/5
1 order comes with 4 pieces. It's your typical dim sum, but certainly one of my faves. The quality is great and the taste is quite savory.

Shrimp hargow: 3/5
Not a huge fan of this one. 1 order also comes with 4 pieces. The texture of the dim sum is slimy (see pictures below). The skin would stick to the other dim sum and it was hard to peel it off from each other. Although it was easy to eat, I didn't like how it would just fall apart.

Ambience: 4/5
It's pretty dimly lit inside, but that is part of the charm of this restaurant. I liked the moody, yet classy vibes of this place.

Overall, with a pretty pricey menu that didn't offer much specialty, along with the difficulty in finding parking, I would probably not be back again. I'll have to stick to my regular place (Din Tai Fung) for my dim sum needs.

Really good Chinese food! First time here, we had Beef w/ Orange Peel, Spicy Chicken Chow Mein, and Pot stickers, everything was delicious! Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had! I highly recommend this place.

This place has a lounge-y, serene Asian feel to it. It's dim sum, which translated from Asian, means tapas-style. It's Americanized dim sum, so many of the pieces are way too big for one bite, which leaves a discombobulated mess of half-bitten wonton wrapper and shrimp on your plate. Not too bad if you're craving dim sum and are too lazy to make a trip down to Chinatown. But definitely far from the real thing.

The restaurant seated us an hour late and didn't bring out some of our dishes. The food was fine, but we missed the movie we'd planned to see.

They comped a round of drinks and one of our dumpling dishes, which was a kind gesture, but only after my friend asked. I would have preferred for them to charge us full price and give us a realistic estimate of when we'd be seated/receive food.

It seems like this is an atypical experience, but every other party seated that night had the same issue.

Menu prices are decent considering the neighborhood this is in. We got the chicken shumai, shrimp, and crab meat fried rice. Everything was surprisingly a pretty decent size - these 3 dishes we ordered were perfect for 2 people. If I'm in the area and am craving dim sum, I'd consider coming back here.

The customer service could be better. Our server was kind but we had to flag him down in the few times we needed something. Then when we were ready to pay, we had to get someone else to get our check and it still took 20+ minutes to finish that up.

This place deserves way more than 4 stars! Authentic and unpretentious Chinese/Szechuan comfort food, fun ambiance, good service, Bao Dim Sum House is a neighborhood staple! Recommend the fried chicken, dumplings, and Zha Jiang noodles.

We spent 500 dollars and had the worst service ever. Order fried rice we where there 2 hours and they still had not brought my food to me. Worst ever drove over 100 miles for crap service. Our server was the worst she never asked to fill drinks or even till us if our order was ready or not. Never go there again For that place.

Steamed Golden Lava Buns: Thankfully, the "lava" was flowing quite freely. I hate when these buns are made too far in advance so the inside is coagulated. The texture was just perfect! It was sweet, but not too sweet. One wish would be if they brought this out the end; they basically take your order card and bring out stuff in whatever order they feel like.

We had a great lunch with good service. It was not the best food but it was good (and that is why I do not give a 5 Stars review) but it was nice. The food was fast and the service kind. Good to go for lunch.

Solid a la carte dim sum restaurant. A few of my favorites are the pork shumai, short ribs in black bean sauce and the shrimp stuffed eggplant. My only complaint is that the clear dumpling wrapper used for the Har Gow and spicy shrimp dumplings always falls apart.

If you're craving dim sum, it's worth trying. Clean and friendly and you can make a reservation through yelp.

Although they're OK at Bao - If you're craving soup dumplings, I suggest trying Northern Cafe on the next block

Dim sum during dinner is just strange for me.

Dim sum during dinner is just strange for me.

The food here is tasty, and the quality is great for the "west side."

The valet is right in front which makes it very convenient off either corner.

We ordered literally half the menu and everything was great. I wish they had chili hot oil though.

I'd be back for lunch probably, not dinner.

Nice interior, but doesn't have the feel of authenticity when you walk in. Regardless, it's all about the food right? I must say, I was actually very impressed with their portion sizes, and the taste was solid! The service is nice, and although the interior is fairly dark, give me a seat next to the window will make your experience that much better. I would have loved to come here during happy hour to totally get my money's worth!
Of course, you can't compare this to an authentic Mom and Pop shop, but it certainly feels it's niche for those less adventurous. I'll see you during happy hour!
